“Beauty. There was still beauty in this world. Stars could still glow, still burn bright, even buried under the earth.” – Sarah J. Maas (Kingdom of Ash)

„I gave up practically the whole world for you,“ I tell him, walking through the front door of my own love story. „The sun, stars, ocean, trees, everything, I gave it all up for you.“

“No one is too old for faerie stories,” her aunt said, faint smile growing. “And as you are part faerie yourself, I would think you’d have some interest in them.”

Sometimes I find a lot of wisdom in the acknowledgments and author notes. This one is from Marie Lu on Kingdom of Back. Nannerl is the protagonist of the book, and she’s an incredibly talented girl who was not allowed to follow her dreams because she was a woman and her place belonged elsewhere.
I think it is beautiful, honest and hopeful.

Want to know something interesting about Mozart?
He had a sister, Marianne ”Nannerl” who was just as talented as he was. They were incredibly close, he looked up to her and learned from her. They composed together, played together and even created their own world, The Kingdom of Back.
But history was not kind to Nannerl. Hell, the world was not kind to her because back then, being a woman made her invisible. And even though she possessed a talent worthy of performing for kings and queens, she was mostly erased from history. Marie Lu was the person who heard her name, became interested and rescued her.
The Kingdom of Back is a historical fantasy that tells the story of young Nannerl and Woferl, two brothers which talent created a world that was upside down and, who have to pass many tests before they reach their dreams, but not everything is what it looks like, not everyone is who they say they are.
A very important story told by a great writer. The Kingdom of Back reminded me of all the magical stories they told us before bed.
