okay, so, i just read/finished my favorite book ever. that feels weird to type but- wow. i want so badly to read this again for the first time and it feels ridiculous to live in this world where everything and nothing has changed. ive texted like everyone about this book and now im going to tumblr to talk about it because nothing will ever fill the void of this book’s magic and i need to reccomend it everywhere i can. so it’s a new release called Such Big Teeth by Rose Szabo and it’s a weird mystery/fantasy/mild horror type thing that probably isn’t for everyone but it’s SO GOOD. i dont know how to describe it without spoiling everything, but there are werewolves (kinda not really) and witches (kinda, more than the werewolves but not entirely) and creepy mysteries and it’s also gay, but gay in a very subtle way??? like the gays are there but it barely even registered for me under all of the ✨ wow ✨. this rant is so disorganized lol but just- creepy mystery!!!! with weird family dynamics and a grandma from france!!! what more could you want???

Headcanon where Harry and Hermione are actual siblings. The Grangers "adopted" Harry at some point, not legally though. Like each summer he stays with them instead of with the Dursleys's. So, while at Granger's, they'll help each other to sneak out of a window at high night hours to meet their boyfriend/girlfriend who are waiting in a Ford Anglia parked at the end of the street. And is like ... Hermione: "Harry, hush, if Mom finds out she'll kill us" Harry: "They're well asleep sis, relax"

Ahhhh thank you thank you thank you. I’m autistic and watching the way that the princesses (and just,,, pretty much everyone except like, maybe Hordak) treated Entrapta was incredibly frustrating to me. I’ve been looking for other people who agree with me that that was ableist as hell and it was so hard to find them that I was starting to think I was just overreacting. (I have plans to rewatch the show and write down every occasion where someone babies Entrapta or treats her as lesser than because she exhibits neurodivergent traits, and it’s going to be simultaneously very cathartic and so, so upsetting.)

I use posts from twitter for this because it is even more wide spread there and also because this decreases the risk that I get harassed for saying this, but this is definitely a problem here on tumblr too. And I am already working on documenting ableist takes here too.

What is especially frustrating and scary about this is how so many people do this that ableists face absolutely no consequences at all. I wish I had a solution but all I can do is document it so that people can block these ableists and maybe, if they have the spoons, try to reason with them (though, from experience, in most cases this is futile)

People infantalizing Entrapta and wanting that her and people like her are never allowed to make their own choices, just because they don’t fit into their arbitrairy idea of how a adult has to behave. Also, see the victim blaming? The princesses (people like this person) are mistreating Entrapta, how is she to blame for that?!

Neurotypicals really do love to protect other ableists, rationalize why it was necessary to abuse and humiliate Entrapta and do victim blame, huh? Even a nice font wont help there.

What is also specifically frustrating is when neurodiverse people themselves are ableist. With neurotypicals I sadly almost expect it by now, but from neurodiverse people… I am torn between wondering what the hell happened with them that they hate themselves so much and being disappointed.

Right, so you suddenly care about PoC but totally forget that Entrapta is a WoC too? Also, what the hell is ableism when not mistreating and humiliating someone because of her autistic behavior. But what to expect from someone with a name like that…

Forcing Entrapta into your idea of the naive uwo soft child is still ableist even if you claim to be autistic.

By the way, this is what happens if you explain to these people why their behavior is harmful:

And lets not forget how the voice actor of the main character openly enabled these ableist ideas, not caring how much she would harm disabled fans. Yes, she apologized, but only after multiple disabled fans reached out to her (and they were harassed for that), and the bad influence of this is still to feel.

Mind you, I started screencapping this only recently, and all these screencaps I came across in about a span of a week. Can you imagine how incredible draining it is if you have to see just how many people see you as lesser than human and that you should not be allowed to make own decisions, have a sexuality and that abusing you is justified (and yeah, disabled people are not alone in this, btw, this fandom is also racist, aphobic, biphobic and transphobic)?

Surely this is dangerous and reckless to post this, but at this point I fucking snapped, I am so tired of this. Something has to happen. And I am tired of fighting alone. Neurotypicals, if you are really an ally, now is your time to speak out against this kind of behavior.

Well, I’ve had a theory for a long time that what matters isn’t what quality you most exhibit, but what quality you value the most. For instance, Hermione may be smarter than she is brave, but she values bravery OVER smarts, thus, Gryffindor.

i admit when i first read her book i panicked and got angry, because the idea of getting rid of all of my books and weird possessions was so anxiety-inducing to me. Now that I’m getting to understand her process better, i find it pretty cool! i just wanted to chime in and say that sometimes people’s reactions of anger are simply their way of expressing their fear of getting rid of the things that are precious to them. idk, i just felt like it was important to mention, although i’m not entirely sure nobody mentioned it above (not very good at interpreting tone from writing). :)

Marie Kondo is full of anecdotes about the weird ass shit that she not only lets people keep but encourages them to elevate in their lives. She says one of her clients ended the process with a bedroom full of vintage pinball machines because what sparks joy in that particular woman was basically sleeping in the middle of an arcade.

Marie Kondo would never make you throw away your weird shit! She wants you to pare down to just your weird shit.

well… i just played my first dnd session. it was, idk, four or five hours? someone fell off a cliff, we joined the rebellion, and my character got a date. All in all, a success.

can someone please explain where the name bumbleby comes from? i can’t figure it out and it’s bugging me. 

i feel like it might be something obvious like the ship name snaibsel being lesbians backwards because one of the characters casts spells by saying words backwards and they’re lesbians but i DO NOT KNOW WHAT IT IS

this is what’s always made me hesitate about people calling sensory overloads ‘meltdowns’ or ‘tantrums’. like yes, i know it’s the language most people feel comfortable using and i accept that but also those words have such negative connotations and it feels weird to use them in a mental health context.

- a subplot in which two undeniably similar characters dislike each other and are constantly trading barbs but are later shown to care about each other (Enemies to Lovers)

- a subplot in which two people are close friends driven apart by their crush on another character whose friendship may never recover but who still undeniably have feelings for each other (Friends to Rivals to Lovers)

- a subplot in which two characters have directly opposing motifs and personalities but are still close friends and train together (Friends to Lovers, with extra symbolism thrown in)

- a subplot in which one character has a crush on another character’s brother, and person B hates person A at first, but they grow to have a friendship that is much more interesting and stable than A and A’s crush (Enemies to Friends to Lovers, but make it wlw)
