Wow did I forget how awful human beings are and when you post your art completely ignore it just to tell you that Shar/Selune is the prevailing theory and is obvious and already been talked about blah blah blah. Pet peeve

Artist calls a 8 hour painting a “warm up” that ain’t…

That ain’t a warm up. That’s art. You spent a significant amount of time on it. It’s not a warm up. It’s not a sketch or a doodle. It’s ART. That’s what most of your day has gone into, that’s not minimal effort artwork there.

I know some people are self depreciative and some people want to humble brag but I think it warps peoples perception of what sketches and warm ups actually are.

I know it’s nitpicky but man does it bug me

Artists and creators who voice their concerns about lack of interaction and reblogs are not being selfish or whining for no reason. 

I know many people who are so discouraged by the lack of appreciation they get for stuff that they spend hours on, things they pour their heart and soul into. Even a reblog from Sean does not fix this anymore, it just makes the ratio even more dramatic. 

I’ve seen people voice this before and get told “you’re meant to create for the love of it”, “you just want attention from Sean”, “stop whining and go away”, and that’s not fair. Anyone who puts themselves out there and creates something for others wants and deserves appreciation from the people who claim to enjoy it. You can create what you love and simultaneously value feedback and interaction, they are not mutually exclusive. 

Creators are what made this community so special. Joining and seeing the septicart videos, the wealth of art and edits in the tag from so many insanely talented creators was awe-inspiring. And having that many artists in the tag, seeing them spread around your dashboard, inspired others to do the same and keep the ecosystem alive (for lack of a better metaphor).

What I’m saying is, please appreciate the creators in this community. They’re the ones who take the videos and ideas we get from Sean and elevate it even more, making the gorgeous content which helped make this community so special. So reblog art, leave comments in the tags, make someone smile, give them the validation they need to feel like its worth it and don’t shoot them down when they try to talk about the problem.

#interaction has gone way down over the past couple of years #people who used to write nice stuff in the tags just don’t anymore #it’s rare I get tags now that arnt just art #of course I draw for me #but there’s a bygone era on tumblr now #it’s becoming so absent of interaction #even Reddit beats tumblr for art interaction #dunno wtf is going on with tumblr every just… likes or ignores it mostly #it’s like posting into a void at times

Had anyone else noticed during the Pandemic like… not just reblog but engagement is just DOWN across the board on tumblr? From comments to even messages in the tags… I miss it

#I do appreciate every single like and reblog #but I miss the days where people told you their thoughts in the tags #it just seems… gone now #over the last couple years comments are rare and tags either not there altogether or just organisational #and I know I do it too! I’m tired! #but damn… I miss scrolling through the tags on art #cuz mostly… they aren’t there now
