i know people have a lot of criticisms of the show but honestly i thought the narrative arc worked well for tv and most of the changes really intrigue me and im excited to see what they mean for the plot of the rest of the series. however i am deeply in mourning of these two scenes specifically 💔

#the book’s ending of the tunnel of love is something i thought i couldn’t live without #but that episode was so perfect i have literally zero complaints #mine #pjo tv

okay i’m finally catching up on the finale and im sooooo pleased with the flashback they added!! wasn’t exactly the same but it served a similar enough purpose that will make for some excellent parallels in future seasons

please don’t take this as complaining because i think the show is absolutely excellent and i’ve been waiting for something like this for about a decade now since i first read the books and i think they made up for it in other ways by having luke try to help percy figure out who his dad is and show him the ropes and all that which will still have a really great and fulfilling payoff by the end of this season BUUUUUT…..

i really wish they hadn’t cut one of my all time favorite luke and percy scenes which is when luke is helping out the hermes cabin with sword training and pairs up with percy since he’s a beginner and then asks percy to help demonstrate a complicated move for everyone else. after luke does it slow to disarm percy they have a proper duel to try and use the maneuver in real time and everyone obviously assumes that luke will use it on percy, but percy finds an opening and the opposite happens, which luke tries to brush off but is clearly bothered by. this has some of the biggest payoff of the series because it leads into the plot of percy being “the best swordsman of his generation” / “the best since luke” and it serves as a point of tension for them both to want to prove themselves each time they cross paths and has a final culmination when percy ends up using it to disarm luke in one of their final battles
