Benefits of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning has proven to be one of the most promising and demanding domains. It all started with a question: “Can a machine think?” Asked by the English mathematician Alan Turing in 1950. After that, there was the continuous revolution that the world has witnessed.
In this age of technological dependency, the importance of artificial intelligence and machine learning is undeniable. From financial services to healthcare, from the media to retail, AI and ML are so widely used. Artificial intelligence and machine learning are helping people and businesses achieve key goals, gain actionable insights, drive critical decisions, and create exciting, new, and innovative products and services. Alexa, Siri and Cortana, which answer our queries, are the best example of AI.
Let’s take a look at the reasons why one can should look for AI and ML
Artificial intelligence is one of the emerging technologies that leaves its mark on every industry, from fashion to finance. In fact, AI jobs account for an average of 18% of jobs in most companies. It is often heard that AI is ready to replace many jobs that humans do. Certain! But it’s also creating more than 130 million roles across all major industries. To be a part of this transformation, you must have the right skills and training.
The automotive industry, music recommendations, smart home devices, online customer support, security surveillance, retail and healthcare, artificial intelligence is EVERYWHERE.
Since there is endless data, it is consumed every day. We feed the collected data to machine learning algorithms to retrieve a pattern of behavior, also known as some kind of information about consumers. Information that could be transformed into knowledge. Therefore, companies are literally running towards AI in hopes of making more sales and ultimately winning the race.

COVID-19 Vaccines: Safety and Side Effects
Article by Brainware University - Kolkata , India
https://www.brainwareuniversity.ac.in/university/management.php
Covid-19, the pandemic has already created an everlasting effect in everyone’s life from almost every aspect. The world is still going through a very tough time to overcome the ongoing situation. The outbreak of the virus in 2019 was first identified in Wuhan, China and very soon World Health Organization declared this as one of the deadliest pandemics the world has ever witnessed. The virus spread became uncontrollable and the citizens of every country were gearing up to face a situation that the world has not experienced in last 100 years. ‘Quarantine’, ‘lockdown’, ‘social distancing’ were few of the new words, those were making places in every household and on the other hand the Doctors, nurses and healthcare workers were working relentlessly to fight the situation. Millions of people have lost their lives, sadly this is still continuing in some parts of the world while the disease is still spreading. The global pandemic started as a life threatening illness and people started to be more cautious, taking all the preventive measures from wearing masks to using hand sanitizer and maintaining social distancing. Initially the struggle was tremendous to fight the spread of a completely unknown virus. The urgency of a virus was felt from the early days as people were unable to control it somehow. The countries worked persistently to invent the vaccine. After several unsuccessful attempts and clinical trials, the UK turned out to be the first country to approve the Pfizer vaccine and start the vaccination programme. Later, India also started the immunization process on 16th January, 2021 after the immunization week campaign. The vaccination process is unceasing and it is giving priorities to health care workers. Talking about the safety of the virus, it does have and can cause mild side effects which may vary from person to person. It does not give any disease to anyone. As vaccination is the best defence against serious infections as well as viruses like Covid 19, the government is also being very strict about proper distribution of the vaccines. For safety purpose the vaccines have gone through multiple steps and trials in cells and animals. After getting several authorization vaccines like CoVaxin, ZyCov-D, Astra-zeneca Vaccine dubbed as Covishield etc. are being applied. These vaccines have gone for trials for analyzing the safety and immunogenicity. But even after the invention and application of the vaccines, the preventive measures should be taken mandatorily and people should continue to wear masks, wash hands, use sanitizer and maintain social distancing. The Government is also continuing the campaign about Covid-19 safety after vaccination drive. The fight again this deadly virus is still continuing and will continue in future but it shall be overcome very soon, hopefully.

Healing the needy
A workshop on Addressing Poorest of the Poor: Schemes for the Weaker Section of the Society was organized by the Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) of Brainware University (BWU) on November 26, 2020. To conduct the session, Ms. Indrani Sengupta, Deputy Director of Employment, WBCS Group A, Government of West Bengal, was invited as the guest speaker.
Focusing on the different government policies, employment opportunities and schemes on education and entrepreneurship development for people belonging to the lower rung of the society, the session was very informative and enriching. One of the primary objectives of the EOC of BWU behind conducting this workshop was to provide guidance and counseling to the disadvantaged groups with respect to academic, financial, social and other matters and to enhance the diversity on the campus.
In this regard, the speaker said, “The aim of all our policies is rapid and balanced economic development with equality and social justice. So poverty alleviation has always been accepted as one of India’s main challenges by the policy makers.” Introduced by the coordinator Dr. Kaushik Banerjee, Associate Professor and HOD, Department of Law, the guest took over the session and discussed the three-dimensional approach of the government to eradicate poverty. She stated, “First, the growth-oriented approach is based on the expectation that the effects of economic growth would spread to all sections of the society. Second, income and employment for the poor could be raised through the creation of additional assets. And the third is to address poverty by providing the basic amenities to the poor people.”
Thereafter she highlighted various social security schemes of the government to help the needy. The speech of the guest was followed by a lively discussion whereby the participants came up with their queries and interacted with the invitee. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Uttiya Basu, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce.

Our Country, Our Constitution
To go forward we must know where we come from. Constitution Day, celebrated on November 26 every year, is a solemn reminder to us of our responsibilities as citizens of this great country. This year, Brainware University celebrated Constitution Day by organizing a workshop aimed at informing the students of the history of our country and making them aware of their rights and duties.
This year, the Hon’ble Prime Minister led the reading of the Preamble at 11:00 AM on November 26, 2020, during the conference of the All India Presiding Officers at Kevadia, Gujarat. We joined the online broadcast of the event to be a part of our Hon’ble Prime Minister reading the Preamble.
Mr. Amrita Das Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Law, chaired the event and discussed at length the salient features of our Constitution. Our constitution, a brainchild of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, has been a beacon in our lives as citizens of this country even after 71 years of its adoption. Mr. Das Gupta told the attending young faces that it is their moral and ethical right to understand and follow it. “It is the backbone of our country”, he said. Mr. Das Gupta’s pride as a citizen of India shone through his exuberance.
The factual excellence of the framing of the Constitution was demonstrated by Mr. Das Gupta through his explanation of its features. The Indian Constitution happens to be the lengthiest in the world and it provides for a separation of powers along with all Fundamental Rights of citizenship. The students responded with enthusiastic questions, especially about the Preamble to our Constitution, and Mr. Das Gupta was more than happy to oblige.
Besides becoming good students, these young minds must first understand the steps of becoming a responsible citizen and human being. Constitution Day gave them vital know-how on the birth of our nation and taught them how to protect it.
