there is a huge difference between criticizing an institution and criticizing individual behavior. i can criticize the makeup industry without criticizing the 14 year old girl who uses concealer because she’s self-conscious about her acne; i can criticize the plastic surgery industry without vilifying the woman who decided to get a nose job after two decades of pointed comments and bullying. it is intellectually dishonest to respond to an institutional criticism as if it were a personal attack; on the flip side, it is cruel and unnecessary to leverage personal attacks in the name of institutional criticism

if i see one (1) more person respond to a perfectly reasonable beauty-industry-critical sentiment with “but i personally enjoy eyeshadow. why are you attacking people who like eyeshadow :(” or “exactly, all women who wear makeup are miserable and brainwashed” i am going to climb a tree and bite the top of it

#two! quite a few years ago now I went with a friend to Iceland and England to see a play #flew in through Iceland since I’d always wanted to go and they have a cool layover deal for tourists #very very cool trip prob the only I’ll ever get to take #what play you ask? I’m embarrassed to say now haha cuz this was before The Reveal #but it was Cursed Child #I’d stayed up and gotten tickets like literally a year or two in advance and was like #idk how but I’m goin to Europe to see this haha #literally had seats second from the back row haha #wouldn’t trade the experience for the world #so so so cool #dirt broke and toured a lot of free churches haha #and the museums were free!! which was SO cool!!

I always thought it was like an exaggeration when horse people would talk about how silly it was for anyone to think that riding a horse does not require any particular level of skill or balance or anything, or even that they "drive themselves" (???) but just the tags on the reblogs of that "can you ride a bike and/or horse" post from me alone are demonstrating how overconfident some people are in their (often entirely theoretical!) ability to stay on an alive and moving animal with a will of its own.

#I had to read this three times until I could figure out where OP was being sarcastic and where they weren't haha #idk why ?? it's clear now I was just confused cuz I was like wait why does the tone change drastically in the second half #anyways fun facts I took horse lessons when I was a small kid and loved it #idk if I could ride a horse now it's hard haha it takes a lot of core strength and leg strength and I think I'd just get tired and sore now #my teacher HATED me and idk why to this day I couldn't have been older than 12 #she took me from Madison a sweet old horse who you had to really be animated to get her going #straight to a young thoroughbred horse named Sam who would slip into a canter unexpectedly and it was hard to get him to stop #and the lowest part of his back was a full six inches over my head and i was TERRIFIED to fall off of him #not even be thrown just like #slipping off the side of him #I'm really scared of heights and I didn't know how to verbalize that as a kid #so I'd cry and cry and beg not to be on Sam but she said I couldn't be afraid to fall and I had to just get it over with #and unfortunately i just stopped going to lessons cuz i was just too scared #rude of her tbh i adored those lessons I loved the work of it all #the routine and the wind down after care of the horse #LOVED brushing them lol and just hanging out #I've ridden a few times since then but just a few lol it doesn't like come up often you know? #if you're not in the horse world how often do you realistically interact with horses

Also, I remember writing this whole thing about Molly and the paper flower he gave Yasha the episode before The Incident. Going on and on about the symbology of it and how we never know when our final acts are upon us, etc.

Like, for me the thing about “oh who is sam gonna play next” that’s so cool to speculate about is Sam is a fantastic story teller. He’s got a rly good head for big story arcs and what is needed for the next beats etc etc.

The last time a PC went down the actor went home and was able to think “okay what does the party need”. No blind choices, no creating in a bubble that all comes with new campaign character choices. What does This group of people need, narratively speaking.

And HOOO boy am I excited to see what Sam Riegel, king of story beats and plot hooks and drama and final acts, what he comes up with.

I really really feel that FCG is staying... the way he is. Heartbreaking, amazing amazing story moment. Assuming this is correct... what is sam doing next? I really doubt he will sit out, he's not the sort.

I think the party still really needs a healer and he knows that, low key. So I bet it'll be some sort of something with healing ability. And I think he's been showing he's SUPER interested in #moonlore so I would BET that it's some member of the rebels who desperately wants to go to exandria like right now and wants to join with them and fight. Maybe another druid, but like moon druid haha. Idk. I like seeing sam as a spellcaster, I'd like to see him as one without one hand tied behind his back (with him limiting his spell kit so much as fcg).

I'll miss the little healbot. So much. I've been so distressed. I'm not looking forward to doing my monday rewatch. But wow, I do kind of miss new character speculation haha. It's fun to just throw out guesses.

Like I was being a little goofy to process my feelings but the Iron Giants story really does resonate so well here.

Robot amnesia, for one. Built to be a weapon, for another. This sense of learning what humanity is, from thinking you get it to realizing it's way more complicated than you first assumed. The human relationships we form that MAKE us human, that make us care.

Something so beautiful about something that was designed to hurt, designed to be hurt, turning that around in an act of love.

Seeing so many ppl complain about Otohan seeming too OP or being irritated by her mechanics. I don’t get that haha. Like. Bosses should be hard. Should feel unwinable. Should take sacrifices. There’s been so many battles that have been hyped up that the cast just smoked, of COURSE Matt’s been building the perfect 1V7 baddy. One versus SEVEN!! That’s bonkers! So badass. Of course she’d be carrying around healing options. Of course she has a second form. Of course she regens abilities.

On a conceptual level I don’t understand ppl who complain about things being hard or unfair in a story. It’s a story. It’s allowed to be unfair. It makes it more interesting.

And so much boils down to that. It was so so interesting. Way more interesting than if they’d just killed her in two rounds boom done. SO much more interesting
