i used romeo & juliet as a joke comparison for valgrace but like its funnier the more I think about it... okay so like what the comparison was, was that romeo (jason?) was in love with rosaline (piper???), and he swore SOOOO much he loved her lol, and then he meets juliet (leo lol). anyway this means little except that they're always running to each other's side through the play (hoo?) despite being on opposite sides of a conflict between families: aka montague and capulet... (let's say, roman and greek 🤔)

anyway r&j is a tragedy 💀 you're actually told that they die in the beginning of the play (like, the prophecy warns of death too?). here's how this plays out:

so juliet fakes death (leo does this 😑)

romeo sees this and thinks she's dead because he was not told of the plan (leo did not tell jason 😑)

but then he ACTUALLY dies (jason does this 💀)

and then juliet comes to and cries as she finds her love dead (this literally happens in tbm)

somewhere in the mix, there is a vial of poison and dagger used in r&j, similar to the cure and spear in hoo/toa!!!

here is one of the last few times r&j talk to each other in the play (i used no fear shakespeare for ease of mind):

JULIET: Oh, do you think we’ll ever meet again?

ROMEO: I have no doubts. All these troubles will give us stories to tell each other later in life.

JULIET: Oh God, I have a soul that predicts evil things! Now that you are down there, you look like someone dead in the bottom of a tomb. Either my eyesight is failing me, or you look pale.

ROMEO: And trust me, love, you look pale to me too. Sadness takes away our color. Goodbye, Goodbye!

anyway, while the roles are flipped from originally proposed this is fairly similar to this:

there's this theme in the play about fate and how their misfortune was kinda inevitable... kinda like hoo. regardless, the whole play isn't a complete parallel of course but, ah it is fun to consider, no?

valgrace is literally “i'll take care of you” “it's rotten work” “not to me. not if it's you” they are friends that come to know eachother through circumstances outside of their control but somehow and still trust the other completely and “leo wasn't exactly the trusting type but he trusted jason with his life” is a literal quote from the book. leo sacrifices himself again and again to save jason from death until he literally gives his life for him while jason wildly looks for ways to protect leo and put himself between the danger and him. leo doesn't think he can connect with other people and jason is the same, and their relationship is about how they overcome their insecurities and figure out that the place they belong, the place they've been looking for, is right next to the other — together. leo learns to stop running away and jason learns to fight for what he wants instead of doing it in the name of duty. jason finally gets to breathe and live his life while leo stops believing he's unlovable and just in the way. jason loves leo's brilliance that makes him so unique and leo can't help but love how jason's touch is gentle despite growing up as a military leader and with animals. valgrace is about not knowing much how love is supposed to feel like due to their upbringing but knowing too that if this isn't it, if this tenderness they've discovered in eachothers' arms isn't it, if what they have between them isnt love, then they dont want it — and they should have had that i think they deserved their happiness peppered with kisses with the promise of home

Ok but when u think about it, valgrace being friends to lovers is so awesome so neat, because they never really disagree. They INSTANTLY acknowledge that they weren't actually best friends so they became that. Telling each other their worries and deepest secrets when they barely know each other. Leo's stupid line of "Leo wasn't exactly the trusting type but he trusted Jason with his life" THEY BARELY KNOW EACH OTHER BUT THEY KNOW EVERYTHING!!!! Jason knows about his mom and his hate for his fire, Leo's watched him struggle over his memories and his sister and Piper. They tease each other and get exasperated, but they do not fight and they're always agreeing with each other. Jason always defends Leo, always asks if he has a plan and does it regardless how stupid it is. Leo's just ridiculous when it comes to his thoughts on Jason, his big old "I wish I was him, I wish I could do what he could" while Jason admires Leo's skills. The ONE time they have a fight is being manipulated by charm speak and they immediately apologize over it. Just knowing throughout the series they do so much stuff together that's not seen. They defeat some evil statues or something in BoO because they play videogames together. It's a stupid plan too but they go with it because they trust each other. LEO DYING AND JASON SEARCHING FOR HIM FOR MONTHS NOT GIVING UP HOPE?!!!! LEO COMING BACK AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICING JASON'S MISSING?!!!!! even like, not in a best friends to lovers way, just in a best friends way, they are literally so tied to each other despite the fact that never had to be, they CHOSE this

wow guys 😆!!!! i just finished episode 6 of that lightning theif show on disney (i become supreme lord of the bathroom) and we just met luke and he's SOOOOO coool!!! 😚 i just really like him so much already LOL even though he was only there a few minutes. i feel like he can be SUCH a great big brother to percy 🥰 that would be so nice, luke seems like such a cool brother... but he's also so cute omg 😳 dont tell anyone but i think i might have a little crush on luke already 😳 hehe!!! maybe his last name should be hubby 😆😆😆 anyway this was such a good episode, i cant wait to learn more about lukey 🥺 he seems like such a good guy
