AU where the new gods: nezha reborn (2021) is the sequel to nezha animated movie (2019)

immortal boyfriends were roaming the world, killing demons together when the power struggle between humans and gods happened. they stayed out of it. in the second war, they wanted to stay out of it but ao bing's dad and his dragon uncles kidnapped him coz ao bing had always been one of their major trump cards and this time their freedom was within reach and all they needed was to bring ao bing back into their folds by hook or crook.

so they capture ao bing, use questionable magic to chain down his memories and unleash him onto the world.

nezha comes in search of his (literal) other half, tries to subdue him, ends up having to kill him because this amnesiac ao bing had zero qualms in razing the world to the ground and nezha knew that his ao bing would hate himself for eternity if that ended up happening.

dragon fam is pissed at nezha and kills him too.

we'll find each other in our next life, ao bing

yes... in all our next lives... nezha...

in their next lives, they do find each other but reincarnation is a tricky thing and neither of them remember even though they're drawn to each other almost viscerally.

in one life, the dragons instigate trouble and pit nezha and ao bing against each other again. neither of them walk away from that fight.

in another life, the dragons kill nezha before he even realises who he is.

in another, they make ao bing kill him and ao bing drifts the rest of his life like a living ghost

even the fates can't figure out if it's better if they never met or if they end up meeting and losing either of them.

years passed, the dragons slyly established their strongholds amidst the mortals.

li yunxiang, a racer and a smuggler, comes across ao bing, the heir to the de clan, and it's hate (or is it?) at first sight.

both are taken aback at the flames shooting up their spines at just one look at the other. they take it for hate.

they couldn't be more wrong.

Wei Wuxian wakes up to fur in his face. His eyes open, squinting in the light and the terror that overtakes him is almost paralysing.

A strangled yell escapes him and as he stumbles away from the monster in front of him, his mind is gibbering mess of only one thought and that is, dog!

The white fur twitches and the dog opens its eyes, staring straight at Wei Wuxian.

His husband's name is wrenched out, a half-gasp, half-plea. Then, a full-out scream.

LAN ZHAN, SAVE ME!!!

But his husband doesn't come to his rescue. Wei Wuxian shakes violently, unable to think past the fear that floods him. The dog whines and moves towards him but stops when he flinches, hard. He throws himself backward, desperate to put space between the beast and him.

The dog backs away too, its golden eyes wide and helpless, anxious whines continuously falling from its throat.

Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan, Wei Wuxian continues to whisper, mindlessly.

When the dog hides in one corner of the room, Wei Wuxian takes a chance and leaps for the door.

Lan Xichen figures out the curse cast on Lan Wangji.

Wei Wuxian tries to force himself to go to his husband even if his limbs tremble. For every shaky step he takes, Lan Wangji takes two steps back, whining low and miserable.

Lan Sizhui catches Wei Wuxian as he almost falls, pale faced. Lan Wangji involuntarily steps forward to catch him but Wei Wuxian flinches without meaning to.

Wei Wuxian apologises, says sorry, Lan Zhan, I know you won't hurt me, but I can't— I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry—

His voice breaks and Lan Wangji shakes his head vigorously, denying the guilt, wishing he could hold his husband and comfort him.

The curse is easy enough to reverse.

Wei Wuxian throws himself at the human Lan Wangji as soon as he catches sight of him, and this time, Lan Wangji catches him, easily and effortlessly, and holds him close, whispering apologies in Wei Wuxian's hair because he promised never to hurt his husband and yet, he had, without meaning to. And it tears him apart.

When Wei Wuxian catches sight of the customary white robes, from the corner of his eye, he jolts, mind flashing back to the last time—white fur, deadly teeth—and when Lan Wangji reaches for him—white, white, white—Wei Wuxian leans back, closing his eyes. A distressed sound escapes him.

Lan Wangji stops wearing white from that day forth.

After watching Fatal Journey, I want to know the moment nhs decided not to trust lxc with this information about jgy being a grade A asshole.

Like, did nhs suspect lxc too? I mean, as far as nhs knew, it was lxc who gave that music notes to jgy. Was lxc on jgy's side? Did he plot his brother's murder too?

Ofc when nhs properly observed everything, he could see that lxc was genuinely devastated by nmj's death. So, lxc couldn't have done such a despicable thing.

But at what point did nhs decide to do everything alone?

Did he see how close lxc was to jgy? Is that why he chose not to inform lxc? Or was he being kind? Letting lxc live in ignorance while plotting how best to bring down jgy?
