randomly remembering the time in 2012 when everyone kept saying the world was going to end at midday that day and like, i didnt really believe it, but i didnt want to be a complete fool if i was wrong, so i excused myself from class to go sit the field and perfectly timed the beat drop to a skrillex song just in case something happened. and im just. retroactively amused by the idea of ushering in the appocalypse with skrillex. most 2012 thing you could possibly do.

What’s the consensus on what Hua Cheng did with the statues?

It may be controversial, but I suspect it was hornier than whatever Luo Binghe was doing with Shen Qingqiu’s corpse…dressing it every morning, making it breakfast, and sobbing.

Like, I don’t think Hua Cheng actually did anything untoward with the statues, but he probably had thoughts about maybe, just maybe, kissing a hand, or a cheek, or — Anyway, he would feel very guilty about having such thoughts and atone for a long time...until the thoughts inevitably sprung up again, leading to more atonement. Basically, just an endless cycle of horny atonement.

Livestock drama

   “Let’s put pool noodles on the goat’s horns!” says a teenager.

“Why would you,   ” I begin, but they have already stampeded out of the house. I shrug.

   It turns out that when someone puts pool noodles on a goat’s horns, the goat doesn’t really care. They’re very light, after all, and she can’t see them. You know who cares? Who cares a LOT?

   the HORSE. Hero took one look at Nutmeg wearing pool noodles and ran away. You know who doesn’t want to be left alone, ever? Nutmeg. Who went trotting after Hero because he was leaving her.

   Hero, seeing that the eldritch abomination was after him, picked up speed. Nutmeg went into a full run. My kids started chasing Nutmeg to get the pool noodles off her, but could not catch her, because she’s surprisingly fast. The dogs were bringing up the rear, just happy to be going for a pleasant run. Hero was in a panic, leading a parade that he did not want.

   This all resolved. One noodle feel off; the kids eventually cornered Nutmeg and removed the other one. Just - a day at a farm, I guess.

My favorite thing about dungeon meshi fans is that they share just enough to make it incomprehensible. Does Falin being resurrected with a blood sacrifice have any moral or ethical implications? Fuck if I know. How and why does she become a chimera? Fuck if I know, I only recently found out that the chimeraification happens AFTER the resurrection, so I guess that girl is having A Week.

Where the fuck did Chilchuck and Senshi come from? No idea, Laios just hired them I'm assuming? When how and why does the cat girl show up? No idea. Why do there seem to be like 70 characters when 99% of the screenshots are just the same four dudes? I dunno.

Game of Thrones and Supernatural fans forced me to know more about that show than I ever wanted so in a way I appreciate the Dungeon Meshi fandom for being completely incomprehensible. God speed you crazy bastards.

If people were too mean to you when you were growing up, a newborn animal will materialize inside your brain and it’s so so scared and shivering and it will stay there for years. Decades, even. And whenever you say something kind of weird but true to your heart the animal will tell you “Noo! You can’t say that! If you say that, everyone will hate you!”. The animal means well. It’s so so small and everything is so scary for them and it’s just trying to protect you. But listen to me. Listen to me. Whenever this happens, you can’t do what the animal says. You can’t. If you do, you’ll become as scared as the animal. You have to keep saying weird shit. You have to keep doing things the animal wouldn’t approve of. If you do enough things that scare the animal, maybe one day it’ll go to sleep.
