i was reading a book about space to my baby sister and it mentioned how yellow stars are hotter than red stars and it had me thinking about the impact that has on kryptonians

earth in general is so much warmer than krypton, yes the yellow sun gives them powers and makes them almost invulnerable but it's so hot and they're so sweaty all the time

maybe someone like clark who has lived his whole life here has acclimated to the weather, but as much as he can do that the heat still doesn't feel natural to him which is why his fortress is in the coldest climate you can get on this planet, where he feels most physically comfortable

for someone like kara though, who grew up on krypton, the earth's heat would be absolutely unbearable, and would it increasingly more difficult for her to adapt to earth life, an unfamiliar culture, new unfamiliar powers she has to control and the heat just makes matters entirely worse. heat is uncomfortable, it's a stressor, it can lead to irritability and anger and aggression. all of that to deal with on top of the death of her family and her home

DC Super Hero Girls has given me many things. But by far my favorite thing is they have the best incarnation of Bruce Wayne. And I say that not as like oh this is 10000% who Batman is.

No. I mean they have the best version of billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne. Better than even the movies have gotten for one sole reason;

I want you to take one look at this bougie himbo, one fucking look,

And tell me who in their right mind would believe this man is the goddamned Batman.

He is too pretty. Too well put together. Too big a himbo. Too covered in fucking camera crews and groupies to ever pull it off. No one would ever even fucking consider this gem of a man could do it!

But he does and it works so fucking well.

And, oh my God, it's my new favorite thing.

Something that MAWS does that I haven't seen any other American cartoon do is how much it messes with the color grading. It's subtle, but once you notice it, you can't un-notice it. When things are dour, the colors get washed out. When things are romantic, it gets the soft filter. Action scenes get colors so bright it almost hurts.

You can even see mixes of this sometimes. Like when Clark first comes up on the roof after the fight, it's both washed out and has a touch of the soft filter. But after he lies to Lois, the soft filter disappears and it gets even greyer.

Stuff like this is a lot more common in anime, but even most anime don't use it to the extent that MAWS does. It's a really nice touch.
