jesse is left speechless for a moment. there's an odd feeling bubbling inside of his chest : one of comfort mixed with the lingering dread. the butterflies fought with the dragons in his stomach, flipping and turning, but the hand at his cheek grounds him. it makes him aware of where he is, and who he's with.

❝ i could'a been shakin' hands with good ol' grim, ❞ he mumbles softly, that blank stare still resting in his features. it could have been the end for him if he didn't have a team ... but he's here now. his hand raises to the other's cupping his cheek, closing his eyes as he leans closer into his touch.

❝ fuck, i dunno if i can handle all the bullshit anymore. we're losin' the fights we don't pick as well as the fights we do. ❞
