Sebastian opened his door, and almost closed it again. He had been making efforts to get through to Hunter for a while now. Hunter had come out to him as pan, and they'd kissed a few times, but every time Sebastian tried to get him to open up even a little bit, it ended up in disaster. The prosecutor, crossed his arms, as the other began to speak, and raised both his eyebrows, as he went on, "are you ACTUALLY apologizing to me?" He asked, "the great Hunter Clarington himself??" He couldn't help but poke at him a little, considering Hunter had been a dick to him. Again.

He sighed then, "alright, come in," he told him, getting out of the way and pushing the door to close behind him. He walked over to the kitchen then, and grabbed a beer and a bottle of wine. He pushed the beer towards Hunter and pulled the cork to fill a glass for himself. He took a sip, and leaned over the counter, staring at the other. "Listen, Hunter. The thing is, saying sorry is great and all, but it's not gonna work if we keep doing this," he pointed between them. "If I can't even get you to admit you're interested in even banging me, how do you think this is gonna go? We're clearly not exactly friends as far as I understand the term, we have to keep working together as long as I'm with the prosecution, and we clearly both want something here, but every time I get close to you, you jump ten feet backwards like a scaredy cat. And then when I pull back myself, you decide you actually do want to kiss me. And it's frankly getting a little maddening at this point."

He paused to take another sip, licking his lips, "you gotta make up your mind. And once you do, no more of this back and forth, hot and cold, bullshit, got it? If you all you really want is a queer friend, fine, we can work on that, I've never really had one either, but if not then- You can't keep relapsing into homophobia 101 or whatever it is that has you crawling out of your skin when I flirt with you."

Hunter wasn't really sure what more he was supposed to say, or even really do. Sebastian always managed to do that to him, managed to get under his skin and actually make him question what he was doing. For so long Hunter was fine with snapping at people, pushing them away and not caring if they hated him for it. Maybe it was the fact that they were both older now, in New York, and he actually felt that he had someone in his life who cared about him.

He knew he was wrong, that he shouldn't have snapped and he certainly shouldn't have walked away. Which is how he found himself standing on the other side of the door, watching as it swung open. "Look, before you start laying into me which I fully deserve-" He couldn't remember the last time that he had actually apologized, just another thing that Sebastian had managed to change in him. "It's taken a lot for me to swallow my pride and get here, so just let me say I'm sorry before I lose the momentum."

༶⛧┈♛ jace scurried across the roof of the library. he had chased a demon there the other night, and he wanted to have a proper look, afterhours, to see why by Raziel, the demon had tried to run into the old public library, instead of anywhere else. it had felt like it had a purpose there, and he could just feel it. so he'd brought weapons and gadgets to take a look, alone, to see if it was worth raising an alarm about it with any of the others at the institute.

༶⛧┈♛ he didn't have his invisibility rune on, but he wasn't too worried. most mundanes were blind to anything happening around them, glamour or no glamour, and specially at this late hour. most showed some rare common sense of just wanting to be home. which was useful for once. he broke the latch of the rooftop door easily, and snuck his way in.

✧༺ . ༻∞ stefan walked around the small town's main street, taking it in. he had hopes that this could be a new start for him. he was always searching for the normal life he yearned to have and he hoped this could be it. he thought he had hidden his tracks well this time, and hopefully his past would stay away for long enough for him to set down roots. he had bought a mechanic shop, and he was now walking around town in search of whatever materials he could find to fix it up and open it. he knew how to order everything he needed online, but he much preferred this, the way it had been done in the past, and to do something for the people in the town he'd be settling in, like giving them money. and it never hurt to introduce himself to the locals.

✧༺ . ༻∞ he knew he couldn't stay for too long, frozen in time as he'd always be, but he was hoping for at least a decade before he had to move. a decade and a half if he was lucky. he already had a collection of bags in his hand, and he entered a bookshop, always curious to know what was being written about these days, what "classics" humans still held on to. he'd browse for a while and perhaps grab a coffee before heading back. he had lots to do at his new shop.

Tumblr and the No Good, Very Bad Idea

So. You might have heard the news that, as of July 12, Tumblr is testing out converting GIFs into looping MP4 videos to help pages load faster:

This is bad. Tumblr is the only mainstream site left where you can post GIFs and they’ll continue to be GIFs - well, sort of, as Tumblr previously tested and implemented turning GIF into GIFV with the same purpose, and it decreases the quality of the original GIF file. Turning them into MP4 videos is even worse.

GIFs are GIFs. They’re not videos. Creators spend hours making a GIF that will look good as a GIF, not as a video.

I hope I don’t need to explain to anyone why continuing to screw over creators is bad for a site like Tumblr, whose continued existence depends on creators not giving up on it, and why gif-making is important to fandom existence.

I for one will not continue to make any more gifsets if I know they’ll just be turned into MP4 files. It’s disappointing to spend my time making something and watch it become ugly once it’s uploaded - and that’s what is already happening without the MP4 conversion.

WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT?

Don’t bother sending a support ticket! They will tell you to do what I’m about to tell you:

Send an ask or submission to @wip​ - the official “work in progress” blog of Tumblr where people can send in suggestions.

Their ask box is open every Monday from 6AM to 6PM EST.

The conversation isn’t over, guys, but it’s important to be a part of it. If you’re a creator or support creators (and you should), then set an alarm on Monday and go send them a message.
