The world can be a scary place at times, not due to monsters but due to the people that inhabit it. Some of the worst types you could ever come across are locked away and forgotten in long lost dungeons where they were left to rot. One individual had a different idea though. He felt that for some, they were too dangerous to be allowed to exist on the same plane as the rest of us. He set forth to make a deal. A sword that could lock away the worst the world had to offer in exchange for a lifetime of service locking away enemies of the being he made the deal with. Little did he realize he too would pay the price.

I’ve asked this question elsewhere, but lets get y’all involved too! Looking to run a desert themed exploration of a forgotten city and I’m not sure which TTRPG system to use. It’s going to be super combat light (possibly zero combat), and I’d like a system that allows people to jump in without a ton of homework to do (rule-learning, character building, etc). If y’all have suggestions, I’d love to hear them! I’m already looking into Wander Squares and Old-School Essentials!

That square dragon is shaped like a FRIEND, I’ll accept no criticism.

so in D&D the gelatinous cube is an explicit in-setting ecological representation of the fact that "dungeons with ten-foot-wide corridors" are a common enough feature that there are creatures adapted or designed specifically for them. but dragons aren't adapted for that design at all, nor are a lot of the other big guys; they either need separate exits or to use magic or shapeshift into a human form to go throguh the tunnels

but this is a problem that has been solved in real-life! the problem of "large animal that needs to get into a fairly consistently-sized tunnel that's significantly smaller" is solved by snakes, and, crucially, by mustelids, animals that are very long relative to their size. so I think D&D needs more of that. there should be giant ten-foot-wide dungeon weasels and stuff.
