fandom tumblr was another casualty of streaming services. we used to be on here posting about the episodes that were coming out weekly and posting gifs and writing insane shit about the tv shows we liked. now a new season of a show will drop and we’ll talk about it for a week. two weeks tops. and then that show will leave collectively conscious for 1+ year till the next season drops. there’s a reason succession sundays was a blast on here

#fave part of shadowhunters writing mightve been the coda fics? #like seeing the preview for next week's episode and in those 7 days youd have a dozen writers post a fic #on what they thought could or wanted to happen #now theres no opportunity to do that #a couple of my most popular fics literally dont make sense or veer wildly into canon divergence now #but at the moment i posted them they were (even if optimistically) plausible lol #and then that created more excitement and meta and discourse around the show #its so cool having time to see what people want to see happen #instead of not having the opportunity to use our imaginations or not being given #the time to ruminate with where these characters are going #having everything spoonfed immediately does hurt fandom and creativity
