Justice pulling a classic bird/cat scenario where he doesn't approve of the new bf/gf would be hilarious. It's already bad enough when you can feel the pet in question staring at you in distrust, but can you imagine if they could voice their displeasure?

Hilarious.

I'd wager it'd also put a different spin on rivalmance with Anders for sure XD

Imagine the "GO! Anders had no need of you!" but yelled by a pissed-off undead griffon, with decaying feathers all puffed out. Also I bet Anders would mount up and fly off whenever Hawke upset him lol. Somehow I see Anders taking less crap from a rival Hawke if he had backing of big bird-cat friend.

Friendmance Hawke would be that meme of them both sleeping in bed and 'ah yes my boyfriend and his 100 pound undead spirit possessed griffon'.

Griffon Justice would also bring back "gifts" for Hawke. There would 100% be 'Justice makes weird noises cause he's hacking out something gross' moments.

Yep?

Mostly because in canon, Leandra outright tells us that an Amell Warden is their relative. And Anders does mention he served under that same warden. I also kinda remember there's another moment in MotA DLC where Hawke mentions being related to an Amell warden.

But yeah, canon doesn't seem to highlight it much (understandably since it's just one of multiple possible wardens storylines).

But fanfic wise? Omg I have SO MANY ideas playing with the "Amell and Hawke are cousins" scenario!

Anders 100% had a "Oh Maker, there's TWO of them" hot panic moment.

One idea touches on DA2 Legacy DLC storyline: wherein Marzel Amell, upon taking over as Warden Commander, learns that one of the many secret tasks of the Fereldan wardens was to always have a grey warden guarding Malcolm Hawke's bloodline. After a series of shenanigans, Amell discovers Malcolm is dead (oh no!), the remaining Hawke family fled across the sea to Kirkwall (oh no! x2) and that he might actually be related to them (oh... what..??). He then sends Anders (and Justice) to make contact with the Hawke children and 'do whatever it takes' to stay close to and protect them.

Thus, Anders goes to Kirkwall, makes up a story about leaving the wardens and joins Hawke's little friend group. Also, he very quickly realizes the Hawke children are not... children. They are grown-ass adults. And the eldest is Very Attractive. Oh no!

Most of the story is Anders (and Justice) attempting to just survive Kirkwall, while secretly working with the Mage Underground which is actually a cover for his Actual Secret Grey Warden Mission of secretly protecting Hawke. That mini-quest where Nathaniel just randomly 'got lost' in the Deep Roads only to be found standing literally at the entrance? Yeah, a blatant cover to check in on Anders and possibly swap out if need be.

Of course the whole truth comes out during the Legacy DLC.

Lmao, Griffon Justice feeding on Templars a la they Anders-Justice fusion short story is great.

I still maintain that Spirits like the taste of Lyrium because it "sings to them."

Actually, it's rather poetic that a griffon is eagle/lion because eagles pecked out Prometheus' liver, and where do Templar store the Lyrium they consume? Their livers. Not joking about that it's canon

Honestly, griffon Justice makes that short story moment flow a lot better for me:

Anders!Justice eating Templars (derogatory): Weird. Confusing. Gross. Why would you write that?? Never shown in canon.

Griffon!Justice eating Templars (affectionate): YASSS. SLAY. .. and consume. Good bird. Lion bird. Totally normal. "Or I'll feed you to my griffon" is now legitimate threat from Anders.

You mentioned your Hawke has one of those faces that people like after they've stared at it for long enough and that Anders is the same way. I agree, so I gotta ask what part of your Hawkes face finally make their appearance "click" for you? As well as Anders.

Me? I accidently gave my Hawke a nice smile that I only noticed after 80+ hours. And for Anders, I really started appreciating how his smile reached his eyes and made them crinkle after 70+ hours.

Omg I honestly don't know if there was any 'clicking' moment for me. It was all very gradual, slow burn to the max lol. (*￣3￣)╭

Hmm, but I guess if I had to choose, for my Hawke it was when I had finally finished the last DLC (Legacy) just before the Last Straw in Act 3. I took a screenshot of my Hawke in her Grey Warden armor (love me any Grey Warden crumbs at this point) and was like "Hmm, she's not that bad looking" and realized that thought contrasted with my very first one when I created the character which was "Hmm yes, my Hawke is def the plain older sister that looks perpetually confused". 😅

(In my Hawke's defense I did intentionally give her less flattering features like thicker brows and an oddly long yet narrow nose)

As for Anders? Idk, slow burn too. Got very used to his face 😂 I guess I liked when he became all blue crackling lmao. Also that DA2 updated the spellcasting animation for mages. Holy crap, if there's one thing DA2 did superior to DAO it would be mages actually looking badass while casting! 🤩

More Griffon!Justice and Grey Warden Anders (bonus Pounce) XD

AU where after the... "Unexpected Incident", Anders ends up with undead griffon in tow.

Justice is mostly the same. Sorta. Inhabiting an animal is a little bit different experience. Memories and emotions are less complicated. But griffons were still highly intelligent creatures. He learns his host died gloriously in battle during a Blight (unsure when). Thus he still carries an intense fury towards darkspawn. But he's also... weirdly protective of His Grey War-- I mean, Rider, I mean Anders.

And he demands neck scratches now.

Also also Hawke now has to make a good impression on both of Anders' two... c-cats (?) before any ahem, electricity tricks, can happen.
