Same person as the last ask. Sorry to bother you again. So I can take amv commissions and not have to worry about legal repercussions? As long as I'm not charging an insane amount I won't get in trouble? Just wanna be sure I understand.

it's extreeeeeeemely unlikely you'd deal with legal repercussions. if your amvs are acceptable by youtube's fair use laws then theres no reason people cant give you money and request a specific video at the same time

Hey, just kind of here to ask for advice. Sorry if that's weird. I'm an amv editor. I was thinking about taking commissions but when I started doing research on the subject I found a lot of people saying that taking amv commissions is illegal. It's kind of gotten me scared to go through with it. As someone who's been taking amv commissions for a long time what's your take on the subject?

no problem! the amount of money i make off of vid commissions means no legal action will ever be brought against me. no one would ever care enough

the way i see it, no one is paying to own any copyrighted material. amv commissions are the same amount of "illegal" as amvs in general. i'm being paid to provide a service of making an amv for someone, just like paying for fanart of a character is paying for the service of having the character drawn for you

thats how i look at it anyway
