If you can see this, I nominate you to head over to the tag nomination form for Fisstech & Succubi 2022 and nominate some characters, relationships, and tags for this year’s exchange!  It would also be fun if you want to sign up to create and receive a work (signups open on March 1) but even if you’re not sure yet if you want to, it would be great if you want to add some tags to the tagset - this will give everybody who does participate lots of great tropes from fluffy to angsty and from family-friendly to decidedly NSFW to use as inspiration.  Don’t leave everybody stuck with nothing to work with beyond “a cat bit my finger,” Aiden and Kiyan and Gaetan only have so many teeth.  Tag nominations are open until Monday February 28.

In order to put a ghost to rest, one must find out who they were and where they’re buried. While sometimes the Winchester brothers do this through research of murders in that location, on occasion they use the image of the ghost to find their identity. A key part of identifying the ghost is figuring out the time they lived in, best identified on by the fashions worn by the ghost.  From quick glimpses (often while under stress) Sam and Dean are still able to tell the decade and class of the ghost they see for researching them later. Therefore, the only conclusion that can be drawn is that they are experts on fashion history. In this essay I will-

thinking about claire and maybe in the course of a hunt she encounters herself from a timeline over where castiel never possessed jimmy, but like his brother or something, and maybe she even has a few siblings here because claire wasn’t that old when everything fell apart so there was time for the family to expand a little

and so she grew up a nice devout christian midwest girl who got married to her high school boyfriend at twenty. and claire is stunned but thinks, “okay i guess i’m straight in this universe but at least my parents are alive” and it’s great! it’s a little strange because it’s a house full of ghosts and strangers but it’s nice, and comforting, the family dinners and board game nights. she even sneaks a beer with her dad on the porch one night after dessert and it’s so good even as she’s hit with a wave of how much she missed him

except when claire comes out to her other self, mostly on accident really  because she’s just used to being surrounded by ppl who already know and accept her, or other hunters who have more pressing concerns than who she sleeps with (and so what if she throws around her association with the Winchesters and a literal angel when some dickhead in flannel and canvas wants to give her a hard time, she’s not stupid and knows to use an advantage when she has one)⏤

and the fear she sees in her other self’s eyes and claire understands and feels so fucking sick with it. maybe she confronts her other self, brash and a little unkind, suddenly half-angry at the cowardice of this girl who wears soft pastel sundresses and a tiny golden crucifix around her neck (not even silver, not something that could be useful) and holds the hand of this man at dinners like she wants to, this girl who doesn’t know the pit of grief and rage and loneliness like claire has. heaven and hell stormed through claire’s life, tearing it all up, but dear god at least she wasn’t lying about who she was

but her other self just sort of looks at her all big sad blue eyes and tells her that she doesn’t want to go to hell, gives a speech worthy any sunday fire-and-brimstone sermon, and that her husband isn’t bad that he’s kind and sweet and a little dumb but buys her favorite flowers on his way home from work and it’s nice. it’s as much as a girl like her could get. and again claire feels sick with how much her other self has bought into this, this half-lived life that she thinks is all she deserves because, what, some hypocritical preacher who cheats on his wife told her loving women was going to send her to hell? 

at dinner that night when her other self announces she’s pregnant and while everyone celebrates, claire slips outside and up until now she had been only semi-earnestly trying to get home because some part of her didn’t want to give up her parents a second time, but she thinks of the complicated mess of people in her own universe, of the tangled web of loyalty and love and disappointment and resentment they all share, and

she thinks of castiel. the angel who wears her father as much as he wears that trenchcoat and sometimes she thinks she could stick an angel blade through the his throat and feel glad for it, paying back all the way she and the whole goddamn divine order fucked her life to hell. but then she sees the tenderness he shows dean, the friendship he shares with sam, and the unconditional love he has for jack⏤and cas might never be her dad but she knows to him that she is his kid, too. thinks of the family he gave her in jody and donna and the other girls

and it becomes a little trickier to hold onto the rage (it doesn’t disappear, claire doesn’t know who she’d be without her anger), but it seems less important in the face of these other things. and she doesn’t want to be grateful to him for ruining her life, for getting her father killed, and she’s not,

though when she sees the alternative, the life happening to her other self in that little pale blue house that gets smaller and smaller the further she walks away from it, it feels more like salvation than anything she could imagine feeling in a church.

We were robbed of a scene Eileen meeting Mary and also a scene of Mary awkwardly giving Sam VERY outdated dating advice while he gets ready to go on a date. She’s like “make sure you open the door for her and front the bill and bring flowers :)” and Sam’s like “I mean this in the nicest way possible, if i imply she can’t open her own car door or afford Chipotle she will dump me on the spot”

controversial post. cas/dean/crowley love triangle better than cas/dean/benny love triangle. this is because

cas and crowley are ACTIVELY competing for dean’s affection. benny gets firmly relegated to side piece as soon as cas shows up and he’s like, fairly chill about it. sure he’s petty to cas but he’s mostly entertained that he’s been embroiled in a very complicated breakup that’s not a breakup. cas and crowley on the other hand are fighting over who gets to open the door for dean. we just didn’t see it because it wasn’t relevant to the story. 

cas + crowley is mutual antagonism that turns into one sided antagonism. also there’s hashtag #history to them hating each other. the development from a whore is a whore is a whore to the smug shotgun scene to cas calling dean to be like “dean can you please show up i dont want to hang out and get margaritas with him anymore please”. benny quite literally never. 

i love vampires but angel and demon both getting excommunicated from heaven AND hell because they love a human is just better than a vampire making a fun human friend. sorry benny
