Thinking about Verlaine training the Black Lizards. We know canonically he trains Gin but imagine if he trained them all.
He'd notice everything off with Tachihara. How it's his first day and yet he weilds his weapons like he was born with them.
His footsteps are heavy, but in a way that's deliberate. His smile is a little too sharp. His mannerisms a little bit too practiced.
It's not something anything one else would pick up on. But as a former spy, Verlaine can easily spot another.
And maybe Tachihara gets a bit too close to his monthly maintenance. And Verlaine is reminded of his brother, the day he met him.
Verlaine realising the governments experiments continued. That another poor child was forced to undergo such things, all in the name of survival.
Rage doesn't even begin to describe how he feels.
Verlaine's an executive, he's a teacher now, he's a person now. And he swears that no one will hurt this child again.
Perhaps it's time for the King of Assassins to rise again.

I think that we, as a fandom, moved on too quickly from this. Nevermind the fact that they came up with the idea to have Chuuya fake shoot Dazai with a gun (unsurprising), what kind of situations were they getting into for them to need Chuuya to fake shoot Dazai enough times for it to be "a thing"??
Did Chuuya have to pretend to accidentally shoot Dazai in the middle of a face-off? Or to purposefully shoot Dazai who was taken prisoner "so he wouldn't talk" and get everyone's eyes off him with a fight so Dazai could snoop around? Were they playing the betrayal/switching sides card regurlarly? Was Chuuya likely to be planted in the crowd as some enemy? Or perhaps the opposite, with Dazai infiltrated in order to intimidate their oponent? Did they run scams with it somehow?????
