In the games, Maya would sometimes say, “We’re lawyers” and I always would go “no one in this game should be able to call themself a lawyer, especially you Maya.” Anyone who sees these videos probably thinks I don’t like Nick because I only exist to bully him. I love Nick. He’s great. He’s just so easy to bully.
Thank you to @themornal and @8edhead for doing the voice work again!
“Trans women have so much media representation!” Ah yes, who can forget all our magnificent representation like the antagonist of Sleep Away Camp, the antagonist of Dressed to Kill, the antagonist of Soapdish, the antagonist of Ace Ventura, or our representation of how disturbing srs is in The Assignment, or our representation in Naked Gun 33 1/3 when Tanya is revealed to have a penis and Frank is horrified and runs away, or our representation in Family Guy how sex with a trans woman is responded to with vomiting, or our representation in South Park from “Janet” Garrison.
one of the biggest things I can advocate for (in academia, but also just in life) is to build credibility with yourself. It’s easy to fall into the habit of thinking of yourself as someone who does things last minute or who struggles to start tasks. people will tell you that you just need to build different habits, but I know for me at least the idea of ‘habit’ is sort of abstract and dehumanizing. Credibility is more like ‘I’ve done this before, so I know I can do it, and more importantly I trust myself to do it’. you set an assignment goal for the day and you meet it, and then you feel stronger setting one the next day. You establish a relationship with yourself that’s built on confidence and trust. That in turn starts to erode the barrier of insecurity and perfectionism and makes it easier to start and finish tasks. reframing the narrative as a process of building credibility makes it easier to celebrate each step and recognize how strong your relationship with yourself can become
A well-deserved update to my original painting of Saint Pearl! 🌻 Seeing my painting recreated in Minecraft by my favourite creators is extremely cool! I’ve also immensely enjoyed my game of telephone with Pixlriffs. Here are the events that led to this gif being created in something of a frenzy:
I paint this painting -> Pixlriffs builds a statue of my painting -> I make a painting of the statue of my painting -> Pixlriffs “paints” my painting in the statue that I painted based off the painting I painted -> I paint the painting that Pixlriffs “painted” in the statue that I painted based off the painting I painted
