Just remembered an encounter I had during Halloween as I was trying to sleep.

I was trick or treating with the niblings and was dressed as a banana with a skull mask covering my face. My three-year-old nephew found it scary.

As I was walking down the sidewalk, a child coming from the opposite direction steps in front of me. Oh, a simple mistake, so I sidestep to get out of his way, but he steps in front of me. After another attempt failed, I look at him and this boy, no older than five, wearing a full-body Hulk costume, loudly roars at me while flexing his arms.

Here I am, a total stranger, a couple inches from six feet trapped by a child loudly growling at me and seeking the attention from the bustling sidewalks during Halloween.

His mom is talking to another woman and hasn’t noticed her child stopping to size up a grown adult and was quite far away. I try to sidestep again, anxious to get out of there without conflict but the Incredible Hulk kept trapping me in.

What the hell am I supposed to do in this situation?

As he growled at me again, I could not help but to repeat the action. I flexed my arms wildly and roared in defiance at this small child. The Scary Banana versus the Incredible Hulk, a stand-off for the ages.

This was going on far longer than it should have and my mom, who just happened to be standing behind me, that damn bitch witnessed it all and left me flailing. Only after we had our verbal battle did she step in and proclaimed him the winner, shooing him off to his mother who had only just noticed his disappearance. I don’t know if she caught the epic finale, but he triumphantly scuttled off and my mother walked by laughing at my expense.

I was bewildered by the entire event and the guts it took for that kid to pick a fight with a total stranger, an adult to boot. I would say his survival instinct is terrible, but I’m pretty sure that was actually the real Hulk.

We found a bat in our house and we decided to remove it ourselves. It was trapped in a secluded room, but as we are decked out in thick clothing, gloves, and I personally was wearing a Master Chief helmet so it wouldn’t get stuck in my hair, all in the dead of summer. But we couldn’t find it.

We take a seat until we catch sight of it or hear the mfer.

As we talk, my wife’s words trail off and in a low voice, she insists I don’t move and I back away quickly and quietly. The bat is inches away from my foot. I am wearing sandals like a fool and the critter is walking toward me.

I roll my chair back as calmly as I can but this bitch is coming at me. It is walking quickly at me just like the clip above and I am terrified of this fucker! I backed against the wall and this guy is standing between me and the exit.

I scream at my wife to do something but she doesn’t know what to do! I am stuck and he is less than a foot from me before she gets an empty storage bin and boxes him in.

It’s such a funny visual and so silly to be afraid of, but it was scary!
