Reflection: The Lord's Victories
On an ordinary day, no different from others, God sent me a reminder of His love.
I had a bad day at work. And, if you're like me, I tend to let my issues accumulate in my head. So today, I retreated to my room, fell flat on my bed, shut my eyes, and began to count the ways that I have failed. I numbered every thing fight that I lost. My list continued to grow  and I was almost consumed by the idea of being insufficient for the world. Then, as if on it's own, my mouth whispered, "I have a loving family."
So I continued out loud.
"I have loyal friends. I have a supportive community. I have a job. I have a house. I have food. I have opportunities."
Then I realized I was praying.
"I have my breath. I have time. I had a yesterday. I have right now. And God if you let me, I'll have tomorrow. I might not have everything I want, but God you gave me everything I need. Lord, I know I have lost many battles but you have conquered everything for me."
My life, with each struggle and triumph, is the Lord's victory.
1 Corinthians 15:57 "But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

Reflection: Your Defining Moment
On an ordinary day, no different from the others, God sent me a reminder of His love.
Some time ago, I was sitting in a car talking to my friend when the topic of overcoming negativity came into the conversation. Another friend came to mind who, at the time, was running into a lot of difficulty. I explained the situation to my friend who was driving, hoping to get some advice as to how I could approach it. And he replied, "...This is HER struggle. This is HER defining moment."
We all carry our own crosses that will weigh our knees to the ground. Our crosses are our struggle. But sometimes the weight seems to be unbearable and we lose hope. And in those moments where you feel the weakest, where you feel you are suffocated by the weight of your crosses, that is your defining moment. In these moments, choose to be triumphant. Be triumphant with Jesus. For who is better to help you with your cross than the one who bore it himself? Who could carry that cross the best except the one who saved you with it. With Jesus our crosses are not our failures, they are our strengths. So when you find your struggle be resilient, and find your defining moment in God.
Luke 9:23  "Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me."

Reflection: Appreciation
On an ordinary day, no different from the others, God sent me a reminder of His love.
Being able be a part of an empowering group is such a blessing. I am blessed to have such a loving, funny, and supportive group of friends who genuinely care about my well being. And everyone has their own, whether it be your family, your friends, or your ministry.
Go out and tell those people of your appreciation. Today, may you express your profound gratitude for the late nights, the long drives, the tears, and the laughs, to those who love you and to our Lord.
Romans 12:20 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Submission Reflection: Just a simple reminder.
I was once ashamed to show my faith in my high school because I was afraid of people judging me. I kept my "sign of the cross" to myself and whispered my prayers so that none could hear me right before I eat lunch or as I enter the school in the morning. As I grew in faith through CFC-Youth and life experiences, I asked myself, "Why was I ashamed of my own faith? in my own CATHOLIC High school?"
I'm now a post-secondary student and what's funny is that I have more courage than ever to show everyone that I am proud of my faith in a secular space. I don't hesitate to do the sign of the cross and pray in front of my friends (secular or not). They respect me and even ask me to sit beside them before an exam to do a prayer, I know right? It's crazy!
So, for a lot of the CFC-Youths out there who are in a Catholic High School (or not), don't hesitate to stretch those forearms and perform the holy symbol of our faith and pray so that those who are near can hear you. If they do ask why you're doing it, you can either tell them straight up that you're a Catholic student in a Catholic School or ask them instead (If they are Catholic themselves) as to why they're not doing it themselves.
For sure, I get criticized, but I know God up there is jumping and cheering for me!
Be courageous, be proud yet be humble of our faith.
"Whoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." - Matthew 10:32-33
"What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31
TL;DR: Didn't do the sign of the cross or pray in front of friends in High school, After growing in faith through CFC-Youth, I have the courage to do it in front of my friends.

Reflection: God Must Love Me
On an ordinary day, no different from the others, God sent me a reminder of His love.
At work I began to scan a customer's clothing repeating each price as they appeared on the screen. One item in particular scanned as a sale item despite the regular price on the tag. The customer beamed with excitement as I explained the situation. Every scan after, had the same result. As I announced her total she said something that caught me off guard, "Wow, God must love me today!". I stood there, paralyzed as she took her bag and walked away.
I began to think. God loves us everyday, every minute, every moment, in every way, in every place. But why is it that we don't realize it until something good happens? When we are at our lowest do we still take the time to remind ourselves to say, "Wow, God must love me today!"
Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

DTS Reflection: Marie Balagot
If I could sum my experience in CFC Youth with one word, it would be ‘blessed’. The community was where I became aware of God’s love for me. It is where I built a relationship with Jesus. In this community, I have met countless of beautiful people with passionate hearts; each with a story to tell. The community is where I was able to grow in my faith and into the person I am now. But more than anything, it is where I learned – and continue to learn – how to love like Jesus. I am grateful for all the moments I spent in this community with my fellow brothers and sisters. It is truly a blessing to be able to experience God’s love through CFC Youth.
