Some places don’t even name the charity like you’re just donating to the corporation’s tax writeoff. You’re better off giving that money to a homeless person on the street who needs it more..

I hope when the world comes to an end, I can breathe a sigh of relief, because there will be so much to look forward to.

how many people could be working on actual problems in the world instead of being forced to do jobs that they are over-qualified for just because they dont want to go homeless and starve?

Your professor will not be happy with you if he says the Stanford Prison Experiment shows human nature and you say it shows the nature of white middle class college-aged boys.
Like he will not be happy at all.

Watching my toddler figure out how to language is fascinating. Yesterday we were stumped when he kept insisting there was a “Lego winner” behind his bookshelf - it turned out to be a little Lego trophy cup. Not knowing the word for “trophy”, he’d extrapolated a word for “thing you can win”. And then, just now, he held up his empty milk container and said, “Mummy? It’s not rubbish. It’s allowed to be a bottle.” - meaning, effectively, “I want this. Don’t throw it away.” But to an adult ear, there’s something quite lovely about “it’s allowed to be a bottle,” as if we’re acknowledging that the object is entitled to keep its title even in the absence of the original function.

it seems like a lot of modern trendy homeopathic/bullshit “natural” medicine comes from heavy misunderstanding or oversimplification of specific chemical reactions found in naturally-occurring substances and stuff
like, tea tree oil is mildly antifungal and antibacterial, which is why there’s lot of foot and acne creams that contain it - but dabbing it on your wrists isn’t gonna prevent you from catching a cold. and don’t just put it on your skin undiluted, it could leave a rash.
vitamin d supplements can help treat a vitamin d deficiency, a deficiency which aggravates symptoms of depression. this does not make multivitamins the same thing as antidepressants.
activated charcoal tablets have been used to treat stomachaches and certain types of poison because of their massively absorbent properties - the “activated” part means it’s porous, like a sponge. it’ll absorb whatever substance is responsible for the ache out of your stomach lining. the recent trend of just…. putting it in everything? absolutely no medicinal value. eating too much charcoal pointlessly will just make you constipated at best, and will absorb any meds you take at worst.
this is poorly written because it’s 4am but basically, if you’re skeptical of the effect of a popular natural remedy, look up its actual chemical properties to see what it actually does (if anything at all)
