Hi hi!
How are you doing? hope your well!
I saw that you took english as your major and I just wanted to ask how it is? I love literature and I wanted to know how it was...since I may take english as my major so I wanted a small glimpse into it ,if you don't mind ofc ^^
xoxo anon <3
Dear anon,
thank you for your question!
First of all, if I should directly answer your question (how is it?) I would say: wearily wonderful. Believe me when I say that I would NEVER ever change my major, even if with all the struggles that come with it.
If you really like literature I would suggest you to go with it, but be prepared: at some time you will hate anything and you will feel tired. However, any big project requires effort and effort will come tiredness, so it's only a natural process in life that you need to cope with by understanding when it is the time to do your best and when to relax and recharge. After all this effort you will feel grateful for all you've learned. Literature really changed my life to a point that now I see every small thing from a different perspective and enlarged my critical thinking.
One thing I can state for sure is that you are going to read A LOT. And by a lot, I mean even one or two book a week. For example, for my English Literature course, I had to read 9 classics, i.e. 1 a week (+ all critical papers). And then, after reading it we had to write a response paper and discuss it in class.
There are a lot of pros and cons, but if you truly passionate about it, don't be afraid. Please consider however that I studies English and Anglo-American Studies in Italy, so maybe the uni system is a bit different from your country (if you are native english). Still, the core of the study remains the same.
If you have any specific question about my major, subjects, uni etc, please feel free to ask anytime.
If you're curious of some glimpse of my life as a student you will find some vlogs here (but please consider that they are a personal memory and not meant to gain views, so they are not best quality)
