Hayley had always been told how to be careful, how not everyone understood what they were, and how some people out there would try to hurt them. While she took those words to heart, she never thought that her world would literally go up in flames. It was a night like any other until it ended in screams and death. Hayley wasn’t too sure on how she got outside. Maybe one of her family members managed to get her outside before getting trapped inside or maybe she just ran. All Hayley knew was that the house was on fire and no one else was in sight. Hayley did the only thing she could do: she ran. She ran until she couldn’t run anymore. While Hayley was eventually taken in by a family, she never truly learned how to trust anyone and when she eventually triggered her curse, she left. Hayley bounced from pack to pack and staying on her own until rumors reached her about a pack in Beacon Hills who had an Alpha that happened to be a Hale. Hayley didn’t believe it was true but that didn’t stop her from dropping everything she did in order to return to the home she never thought she’d see again. Hayley got more than what she had bargained for. She came back to a broken pack, a psychotic uncle, and her brother didn’t appear to be the alpha that she believed he could be. While things may have gotten better, maybe the fact that her family didn’t live up to the expectations she made up in her head spooked her and without notice, she left.

KLAUS, ELIJAH, REBEKAH, KOL, and FREYA MIKAELSON : Despite her moment with Klaus, Hayley never wanted to get involved with the Mikaelsons and never expected to run into them again in New Orleans of all places. Hayley probably made herself more of an enemy than anything else when she joined forces with the Crescent Wolf pack but over time, she began to understand how the Mikaelsons worked. She didn’t always agree with their decisions but a part of her had come to care about them and their well being.
DEREK, PETER HALE, MALIA TATE and JACKSON WHITTEMORE: Hayley doesn’t expect to be welcomed back with open arms especially after she initially left but it seemed as if she had left without knowing the full story especially where Malia and Jackson are concerned. While Malia seems to be well aware that she’s a Hale, Jackson doesn’t, and there’s a part of her that might jump at the opportunity to be the first one to tell him.
CAROLINE FORBES: Hayley and Caroline haven’t always seen eye to eye especially with Hayley’s relationship with Tyler and the lengths she was willing to go to get what she wanted especially when it came to her family even if she did leave in the end. Hayley doesn’t owe anything to Caroline and she’s hoping the blonde doesn’t act as if she does.
