I still need a little bit more time for this year's redraw, and seeing how busy I'm going to be over the coming days, there's no way I'll manage to finish it on time. So, enjoy the sketch of a new character :DD

Since I've been reading Curse of Strahd a lot lately, I decided to put that module into my homebrew setting, mainly because the amount of information redditers provided with their own ideas and opinions. It's inspiring and helps a lot with establishing things for me, creating potential plot threads and NPC connections - it's so much fun. I literally became a theory man, I have that many notes on places and characters now, haha.

So, uh, here is one of the main characters from CoS - Ireena Kolyana, a heavily changed one at that. (Pls don't hurt me) I've seen her as the damsel in distress, as a paladin and as a fighter too, and I almost chose her to be a paladin as well. Fitted pretty well into the whole picture, but I was toying with the idea of making her into a sorcerer instead, her fire spells being sacred flames or something. In the end I decided against it, and created a bit different backstory for her, choosing the ranger class with rogue multiclass.

I wanted to draw something fun for the holidays, but I'm still stuck with this year's redraw + working on worldbuilding a lot lately + had some new ideas that required my attention + I'm forcing myself to get some rest too. But this year's redraw is almost done (at least I hope so), probably share it during this week :D

Putting this aside, I'm still proud how this version of Lash turned out. I really enjoyed the rendering process, finally got some ideas how to implement her in a storyline and I also converted her into the 5e system, making her a Circle of Witherbloom druid because of her arm.

Speaking of which, the full storyline isn't clear yet though, I only know that she touched a cursed item somewhere at some point, and that deadly curse spread rapidly from her fingers, blackening her hand, later on her entire arm, stealing her lifeforce in the meantime. She was able to travel back home just in time, where her mother, a powerful druid, helped her immediately, though her arm was in such an extremely bad shape, that it had to be removed. They couldn't lift this nasty curse fully either, so her mother replaced the arm with the branches of a magical tree, that now slows down the effects, giving Lash another century or so to live. Thanks to these, now she is able to wield necromantic powers, though every time she does so, it'll take away months, or even years from her lifespan, blackening her new arm just a bit more.

Here's a bit of a simple and casual outfit for Siegmund, my earth genasi/tiefling wizard/artificer! Their main outfit is a bit too complicated and I'm gonna need a variety of easier options soon, since I'm gonna play him in the future.

I tried to keep myself from over-rendering here- This was meant to be just flat colors, but I failed (again)- Anyhow, reblogs are much appreciated!

The suffering was over: I finally started to enjoy working on this redraw, my pace quickened as well thanks to that. Everything just changed once I almost finished the lineart, and adding the colors even made me excited to see the end result as soon as possible. Although I wasn't as excited to draw animals :DD

The colors are from my previous redraw, I was (and still am) that satisfied with the palette, and I'm not planning to change it this year either. Though I definitely darkened her hair here (it should be much-much lighter), but color theory is a tricky bastard, so trust me - the rendering made it just the right shade and tone. You'll see :D

I was also started to work on her background a bit to make myself interested in drawing her again. I basically deleted everything that went down during her adventures, because I wasn't fond of those storylines and situations weren't handled very well. Probably the biggest change is how she'd lost her arm - originally it froze off for reasons I still can't understand. Now she is cursed. So much better, haha.

Sketches from last year when I was redrawing my sweet Lashrael. It's kind of a yearly tradition, and I'm already working on this year's version of her, aand... I already see differences xD But I'm gonna talk about it in another post.

I know I struggled with this a lot, mainly because I was a bit burnt out, making every single stroke look kinda bad. She isn't my main OC for years now either (and probably never will be), so I could find neither inspiration nor motivation to just draw her. I wasn't satisfied with the poses, I wasn't sure about the clothes - it was a full negative experience from the get-go, so much so that I almost replaced Lash with Thilia in this tradition. But I pushed through - I was already drawing Thilia a LOT, and Lash deserved at least a little attention.

I redesigned her quarterstaff, because I didn't like the previous one anymore, and added caracals, since that's her main wild shaped form (and because I don't usually draw animals. Just had to kick myself with something :DD) Later on I also changed her outfit just a little bit, and I had such a difficult time figuring out how her living tree-arm works... BUT! In the end it was all worth it, 'cause I still like the end result <3
