A Beginner’s Guide To Philosophy, Mahatma Gandhi And Spirituality
Here is an author named Dr. Balamurali Balaji. He has been an author for more than 25 years. Dr. Balamurali is a non-fiction author. More about philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, his ideology, spirituality and major social issues.
This is what he said about why he became an author and why he loves to read and write "I like it. I like to read and write non-fiction of genre like history, philosophy, spirituality, religion etc. So, no characters. I like my books impart knowledge and enjoyable for my readers. My first book was "Gandhi Invoked" in 2008.
As I continued to think about his ideals, and putting it in practice, I thought of spreading it further beyond my own self. So, I wrote second volume of the same book in 2010 comprising more on his ideals such as spirituality, nonviolence, peace and vegan food.
I received good feedback from the critics even though the book was kept aside by the buyers. Hopefully, I believed that as an encouragement, rather than a setback. In the mean time, I established Techno-Gandhian Centre to publish and print, distribute my writings in the form of pamphlets, cards and small booklets.
My philosophical writings took a turn when I wrote "Relevance of Gandhi: Ideas and Issues" in 2017 which went well in my readership circles. My writings usually reflected both ideology and its application in social-political problems and their impacts.
In 2021, my book "Soulful Ideology" was published. And in this book, I focused only on the philosophical aspects that speak of virtues of ideal living.
My latest book "Configuration: A guide for setting up your 'self" in 2022. It is a spiritual, self-development book on mind, body and soul.”
A Beginner’s Guide To Philosophy, Mahatma Gandhi And Spirituality:
1. What is the central theme or message of your book? How did you come up with the idea?: Message of my latest book 'Configuration' is to provide a broad outlook on mind, body and soul, and to develop the spiritual state of one's self.
2. Can you tell us about the main characters in your book? What are their motivations and struggles?: I like to read and write non-fiction of genre like history, philosophy, spirituality, religion etc. So, no characters. I like my books impart knowledge and enjoyable for my readers.
3. What was your writing process like for this book? Did you face any challenges along the way?: I wanted to present this book in a unique way, that is want to narrate spiritual aspects in computer terms. It was the main challenge. Finding the matching computer terms and appropriating to the aspects seemed little more than intersting. Also, I wanted the book to be crisp and within a defined scope. It is hard to do so as both the worlds of computing and spirituality are vast and boundless.
4. Are there any particular literary influences or authors who have inspired your work?: I am influenced by Gandhis' writings.
5. How do you develop and maintain your unique writing style?: I read a lot of non-fiction and news articles. Perhaps this might've influenced my writings. And I Maintain the same style as I don't feel it necessary as long as I didn't deviate much from my genre!
6. Can you share any interesting or memorable experiences you’ve had as an author, such as book signings or reader interactions?: One of the readers was so excited.wanted me to write more like this. asking me when is my next book!
7. My another book, actually a 50 page booklet, I distributed over 100 copies to public as a part of social event. It was a memorable occasion!
8. What advice do you have for aspiring writers who are looking to publish their own books?: Keep trying. Never give up! Write more. It'll work one day!
9. Are there any upcoming projects or future plans that you’d like to share with your readers?: I am planning for another inspirational book. You may expect it by the end of 2023 or in early 2024.
10. A beginners guide to philosophy if someone wants to start writing books about philosophy, how would they do that?: It depends. I write based on my spiritual knowledge and experience. Others may require reading books on philosophy, spirituality if not experience it themselves
11. Well, if someone wanted to write about the same topic you’re writing about what would you tell them and how would you tell them to start?: I dont think so. Believe the topic is unique.
12. How do you handle feedback and criticism from readers? How does it impact your writing process?: I would have to justify the purpose and scope of the book. Will also check the type of readers and what genre of books they used to read. Criticism is always my cup of coffee, being myself a critic. Well, as a non-fic writer, I take them all as inputs to my future book.
13. What inspired you to write a book on Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy and ideology?: He is a unique leader who led millions of Indian people to freedom; inspired other leaders as well, like Nelson Mandela. His principle of nonviolence has admirers from all over the world. In my hard times, I used his principles to get away with bad moments. Understanding him and applying his philosophy in real world problems seem to be a great endeavour. My writings on him and his ideals are just a reflection of that.
14. Can you provide an overview of Mahatma Gandhi’s key philosophical principles and beliefs?: Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (2 October 1869 – 30 January 1948) was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist and political ethicist who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India's independence from British rule. He inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world. The honorific Mahātmā (Sanskrit: "great-souled", "venerable"), first applied to him in South Africa in 1914, is now used throughout the world.
Basic Principles of Gandhian Ideology or Philosophy or Gandhism:
Ahimsa: Mahatma Gandhi’s principle of non-violence is relevant even today as the world faces terrorism and other forms of violence.
Secularism: Gandhism was tolerant of all religions.
Trusteeship: Denying material pursuits and coveting of wealth, with practitioners acting as "trustees" of other individuals and the community in their management of economic resources and property.
Non-possession: Principle of ‘plain living’ which helps in cutting down your wants and being self-reliant; supreme consideration to man not money.
Satyagraha: To insist on the truth, accept the suffering, and resist peacefully, without violence. (satya = truth, graha = adherence)
TRUTH AND NONVIOLENCE are generally considered to be the two key beliefs of Gandhian thought.
15. How do you explore the spirituality aspect of Mahatma Gandhi’s life and teachings in your book?: Through the aspects of Mind, Body and Soul, the book helps the reader in understanding the basics of spirituality. Mahatma Gandhi used to insist on self-discipline, self-transformation and self-realization. This book guides one to set ready their mind, body and soul towards identifying their self and self-goals.
16. What are some major social issues that Mahatma Gandhi addressed and advocated for during his lifetime?: Gandhi worked tirelessly for Hindu-Muslim unity during his lifetime. He also served for the cause of outcaste untouchables, rights of farmers and peasants.
His greatest service was, perhaps, the emancipation of Indian women
17. How did Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy and ideology influence his approach to non-violence and civil disobedience?: His methods included non-cooperation, fasting, passive resistance and self-sacrifice.
18. Can you share some examples or anecdotes from Mahatma Gandhi’s life that highlight the practical application of his philosophy?: https://www.mkgandhi.org/ebks/story_of_my_life.pdf
19. In your book, do you discuss the relevance and applicability of Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings in today’s world?: In this book , no! 'Configuration' has no Gandhi's teachings and social issues. It is all about mind, body and soul.
In this book, I've narrated the intricacies of “self” with respect to mind, body and soul using different terminology.
Understanding the philosophy of mind, body and soul has been harder for those who dwell in the professional world all day long. Therefore, it is intended to use the computer jargon throughout this book to provide extensive knowledge about “self” in much familiar terms.
20. What are some common misconceptions or misunderstandings about Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy that you aim to address in your book?: My latest book is about spirituality, mind, body and soul. It is for self-development guide for who seek to follow spiritual practices. No comparison with Mahatma Gandhi.
Readers will find it useful in understanding how mind body soul interactively take part in the process of the development of the self.
21. How did researching and writing this book deepen your understanding of Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy and its impact?: I connect this book with Gandhi in one aspect: he is a great soul(Mahatma) who attained his supreme self through his self-less service and by living a ascetic, spritual life.
22. What do you hope readers will take away from your book in terms of understanding Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy and its potential for positive change in society?: Gandhi believed in self-rule, self-discipline and self-content. Readers upon reading this book would learn to identify, develop and nurture their self-value, esteem and self-control. They get an overall idea about how their mind, body and soul play their part in achieving that. And this awareness would create a positive outlook towards life which in turn would bring a positive change in society.
23. Yes, what would you tell writers who want to write the same genre same idea and concept you’re writing like if you want to tell people who are beginning to write stuff about this guy or about spirituality what do you want to write in nonfiction inspirational book what type of guy did you tell them to use so they don’t get sidetracked or get lost writing?: I am not a teacher for other writers. They have every freedom to write their own thoughts. For those who want to know what spirituality is, beginners who want to nurture and better understand to develop their 'self', this book could be useful.
Usually authors worry about readers, not other authors. May be take a cue about spirituality books and how to write it or how it should not be. And this problem arises only for a best seller. I am worried about that.
My book is a guide for understanding what and how mind ,body and soul interacts with each other to nurture our 'self'
And, how one has to keep those things perfect to achieve it.
But, I can't guarantee that my book will do 100% self-transformation. Hope, no book does that.

14 Questions You Might Be Afraid to Ask About Horror Books
Here is an author named Deborah A Stansil. She has been an author since 2016 but a year or so later she started writing full time. Deborah is a mostly horror but I also have a thriller and a legal romance author.
This is what she said about why she became an author and why he loves to read and write "I always wanted to be an author as a child but then life got in the way and it sort of got pushed aside although I never really let go of the idea that one day I would like to write. I started a blog in 2015 and caught the writing bug and it just spiralled from there.
I've always loved reading, it's like a tiny glimpse into someone else's mind and of course its a great way to relax by losing yourself in a good book.
Writing I love because I like the idea of my words painting a picture in someone else's mind and I love that the same words create slightly different pictures for everyone that reads them.”
This is a book that she recommends The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley.
14 Questions You Might Be Afraid to Ask About Horror Books:
#1 What made u want to write horror books: I started reading horror when I was a young teenager and I loved the creepy feeling you get and I liked the idea of making others experience that sort of shiver down your spine feeling.
#2 How do u come up with your characters and settings: I usually start with a general idea of the plot just something as simple as "ooh wouldn't this be creepy" and from there the characters and settings are born. Sometimes though it works the other way and a character comes to me and just know I have to tell their story.
#3 What would u tell someone who want to become a horror genre author: Read everything you can get your hands on and see what sort of horror works best for you. After that just write and worry about fixing it once the first draft is done.
#4 What r you inspirations for your characters or books: As I said above, often it starts with just a wisp of an idea of something that might be creepy and goes from there.
#5 Why do u think horror is hard to write?: I don't think it's harder or easier than other genre. I think the key to horror is building suspense and making people care enough about the characters to not want bad things to happen to them.
#6 Are horror books always scary?: No. Tbh I don't think I've read a book that actually scared me and I read a ton of horror.
#7 What makes a horror book different from other genres?: One of the key elements in horror that isn't a thing in other genres is building up not just suspense, but that feeling of dread within the reader.
#8 Who are some popular authors known for writing horror books?: Some of my favourites are Stephen King, Iain Rob Wright, Adam Nevill and J H Moncrieff.
#9 Are all horror books filled with violence and gore?: No definitely not. Some are, especially splatter punk / extreme horror, but there is so much more to good horror books than a bit of gore.
#10 Can horror books have deeper meanings or messages?: Yes, of course.
#11 Can horror books be considered literature?: Literature is just a broad term for written works of fiction, so yes, any fiction book is technically literature. You will always get the snobby critics who believe genre fiction is somehow less valid than other writings but that doesn't make it so.
#12 Are there different subgenres within horror books?: Yes, there are lots of different types of horror. There's extreme horror/splatter punk which I mentioned before, there's creature type horror, supernatural horror, body horror, ghost story type horror. Those are what I can think of off the top of my head there are probably way more.
#13 Can horror books be enjoyed by people who don’t typically like scary stories?: I think so yes. There is a lot more to horror than jump scares and I think if people gave it a chance and found a sub genre to match their tastes they would find some good reads.
#14 How do horror authors come up with their ideas?: For me it usually starts with a simple "what if" and then goes from there. Or sometimes a character just comes to me and I know I have to tell their story.
#15 Do horror authors intentionally try to scare readers?: I think so to some extent. Like any genre I think writers want their readers to feel something when they read. That could be fear, shock, repulsion, or just that sense of being creeped out.
#16 Do horror authors experience fear while writing their books?: Oh my own mind scares me daily not just when I'm writing. 😂
