If you want to read more about it, look up the usernames of the blogs involved and scroll through the posts. There's no shortage of explanations or perspectives from the transfems on tumblr. And tbh I'm worried that more will be deleted for speaking out.

For those who don't remember, here's the lawsuit two years ago where Tumblr (or specifically Automattic) settled with the New York City Commission on Human Rights regarding Tumblr's terribly implemented porn ban targeting LGBTQ folk more than it should. Here's an excerpt detailing what the NYCCHR ordered Tumblr to do:

The settlement gives Tumblr 180 days to hire an expert on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) issues and provide related training to moderators. It must also hire someone with experience in this area as well as expertise in image classification, who will review Tumblr’s moderation algorithms to see if they’re more likely to flag LGBTQ content. As part of an overall review, Tumblr will reexamine 3,000 old cases where a user successfully appealed a takedown, looking for patterns that could indicate bias.

Hello to my small pile of followers, we’re gonna do a quick little dive into what the current CEO of tumblr ( @photomatt ) believes to be appropriate on his site.

I’d like everybody to take a look at this blog, @toonimal. This motherfucker has an 80 page pile of receipts for pedophilia and zoophilia that’s repeatedly deleted *by google* because their moderation is so horrified by the content therein that they won’t even tolerate it sitting in a google drive. As I write this post, the third post on there is defending incest & other immoral paraphilias as 'stepping outside the nuclear family'.

Now I want you all to take a look at this post Matt makes, where he admits to specifically targeting and banning (at 1:30 in the fucking morning) a transgender woman for sending a looney toons-level comment in his inbox. Though apparently there is an endless stream of threats in his inbox, this is the best one he could think to show!
