au in which wicky is traded to the falcs and naturally ollie moves to providence with him. do bitty opens them back into the area with open arms obviously, but to be honest, he is a little confused about why ollie is here as well. like he knows they're best friends, but it seems a little excessive to move across the country just for your best friend. so after 4 months of this confusion, bitty eventually plucks up the courage to ask and ollie just stops dead in his tracks. "what do you mean why did i move with him? i'm his husband?"

nursey ‘jokingly’ says “kiss for luck?” at the frozen four game samwell is most slated to lose and dex doesn’t know why he does it but he kisses nursey on his cheek on his walk out of the locker room toward the ice and then they fucking WIN like it’s nobody’s business so from then every time nursey says “kiss for luck?” dex rolls his eyes but gives in and kisses his forehead or his cheek and then it’s the championship and nursey says “kiss for—” and dex plants one on him square on the lips and you bet your ass they fucking win like it’s nobody’s business

So there’s the Samwell Men's Hockey we know and love. The one that's full of chirping and rowdiness... and ultimately the one that embraced baking and voted Bitty captain.

Though what if it wasn't always that way?

We know that part of how Check Please! got started was through Hardy, which sprang of Ngozi's observation of toxic masculinity among hockey players at Yale, a liberal school that coined the phrase "1 in 4". Also some of the most liberal cities have some of the most regressive hockey teams. And in-universe, we know that A) the hockey team was known to be very isolated from the rest of campus, and B) homophobia does crop up now and then in Samwell (the extra with Whiskey and the Chads).

So that does raise an interesting question of what Samwell was like before Bitty came there (including up till Jack, Shitty, and Lardo/Ransom/Holster's arrival). And how that contributed to the wider student body's view of the team.

And in turn, how Bitty’s influence, and his teammates' desire to continue that legacy, would affect SMH down the road.

i noticed too while rereading that while bitty's bed is often in frame, his bed is usually made & pretty neat. but after he has the moment with jack in the kitchen and has his realization.... his pillows were mussed up, almost like he was screaming into one of them. or punching them? either way he's so relatable i love him
