*also note that I did not draw the floral backgrounds or the filigree in the corners (though I did do the shading on those) they were purchased stock images and used with licenses. Everything else is me though.

So in 2013 I had an idea for a fable or fairy tale about how a Turtle got its shell. And I designed a trickster type fox spirit and a turtle spirit for it. I never really expanded on it but I drew up the Fox spirit and to this day I still really like it. I needed a spirit/fae creature for my comic The Way Beyond so I dug up this Fox design and reused her. She is a fae spirit now but still a trickster type.

I'm always nervous about redraws because I'm always scared to see lack of progress in my work but I'm fairly pleased with the differences. I can see an improvement in anatomy and line weight as well as attention to detail. I also changed the general costuming of her to make it look like a bit of a mish mash of things (I could probably push this more) as if to seem she is never really comfortable in this current form.  While I wish I was further along, any progress is good progress.

Anyway, I hope you dig the redraw and Fox will appear in TBW in the future.

Also, this was of course inspire by Soldier, Poet, King by the Oh Hellos. But I prefer this cover.
