Reading an A/B/O WinterIron fic atm.

[Yes, I am that desperate.]

Couple things.

First, sure Tony's an Omega and Bucky's an Alpha. I can deal. An Alpha/Alpha relationship would've been more interesting but I digress.

Second - Tony Stark should always be a top. Hands down.

[At least in A/B/O stories.]

Submission simply isn't in his nature.

I physically can't with the stories that do him dirty like that. Omega or not TONY STARK IS A TOP. Periodt.

Other thing that bugs me is the distinct lack of consent in these types fics. The way no one finds the fucked up way they live at all concerning.

[There will be exceptions to the above point, I just haven't discovered them.]

The A/B/O world may be messed up, but your characters are supposed to be the exceptions. YOUR CHARACTERS ARE SUPPOSED TO PROVIDE BASIC HUMAN DECENCY.

Isn't that the whole point anyway? 'Oh look, Mr. Tall-Dark-And-Handsome doesn't expect me to be his breeding whore, his servant.'

Or -

'Mr. Tall-Dark-And-Handsome treats me like an equal. That's quite literally never happened before. The fuck?'

Y'know, build curiosity. Show why the love interest simply isn't like other girls as the infamous Y/N is fond of saying.

Am I completely off base? Did I even phrase everything correctly? Thoughts? Do you disagree? I'm curious, this issue has been nagging at me for a long time.

Tell me why I’m so stuck on the idea of a High School AU where slutty Tony starts dating cute as a button innocent Peter.

Both equally as popular just in different ways. Anytime Peter tries to initiate anything sexual Tony puts him off with an excuse meanwhile he’s beating himself up over wanting Peter so badly but also not wanting to corrupt Peter. Peter though is going crazy with frustration and against his better judgment is getting a bit of a complex about why Tony seems to have done everything with everyone but him.

What Was Once Lost

Only three chapters, roughly seven thousand words. Almost cried when Bucky thought he was gonna be wiped!

Regrettable

What can I say? I'm a masochist. Just under 10k, two chapters. It's a soulmate au, very angsty. You have been warned.

A pinky promise means something (when it's with your soulmate)

Really cute. Features kid!Tony and college!Tony. 6k, a chapter and small epilogue. Pretty much all set pre-IM1.

Sweater Weather

You can tell this one'll be good from the title alone. High school au. Less than 5k oneshot, again super cute. Misunderstandings are heavy for this one. Don't worry, it all works out.

Don't Say It

Soulmate au. You can identify them by the first words they speak but Tony's autistic and nonverbal. Yeah, you can probably see the issue. 25 chapters, 35k. It does all work out I swear. Prepare to suffer in the meantime. Oh and it's stuckony. I rarely read that pairing so let this be a testament to how good it is.

Changing Fate

This one is similarly by Wix. This time a time travel fix-it (I'm such a slut for that trope). Hinted Loki/Tony in this. It's awesome. Tagged as pre-slash. I honestly can't remember. Roughly 30k one shot. Have reread dozens of times!!!

The Guiding of Death

Hades and Persephone au - every pairing needs one of these. Again Steve sucks. Soz (not really). Also female!Tony. I'm not a big fan of the concept but it works. 40k.

Forms of Love

Months after the Avengers' dispute in Germany, the team returns to the US and moves back into the tower. As always, everyone pretends that nothing happened. Tony is just fine with this. He's used to pretending, and he'll be damned if he lets any of them see him flinch.

Tony's the bad guy, after all. He's used to it. He's fine with it. He's good at it.

Only now, there's something far worse loitering around the tower - The Winter Soldier. No one notices the guy at first, but when they do, Tony figures that he should have the soldier's back.

Birds of a feather should flock together, and the bad guys should start a book club.

Dig No Graves

"I'm here to kill you, Terminator," Tony said slowly, "does that compute?"

The soldier looked up at him with wide blue eyes and no expression. "Okay."

Tony froze. "Okay," he echoed. "I tell you I came here to kill you and your response is 'okay'?"

"I am being decommissioned," the soldier said, and for one horrible moment Tony thought he actually seemed relieved. "I understand. I will comply."

Wait wait!!! Nearly forgot this series. It is seriously the best thing ever. Author @everything-withered is lovely.

Basically someone said that the reason Bucky wasn't in a suit at the funeral was because he didn't think Tony would be wanted him there...
