2022 art summary + artist wrapped! thanks for the support!!

rambling under the cut -

i think compared to last year, this year was a lot better, even though it was pretty rough in the beginning... but overall, things have been getting better despite some ups and downs...!

cool 2022 things that happened:

- got!! an!! art gig!?!? short-lived unfortunately but it was a good learning experience and something that was very unexpected!

- tried out some new art mediums! (riso, animation)

- met and hung out with new people and expanded my comfort zone

- created some self-indulgent stuff... and i think i enjoyed art a little more again this year?!

- tabled at a con after covid hiatus!

- got invited as a guest artist to do some cool projects

some 2023 goals??:

- i was supposed to work on an oc zine but i fell off..... bc i was intimidated with drawing bgs and such lol. i want to try again!!

- i also want... oc merch...... for myself

- i’ve been itching to draw more finished pieces and action poses again, i miss them

- re-organize my working area LOL 

- absorb more media (movies/shows/audiobooks/etc)

- i also fell off of journaling a bit and i had to catch up a lot... i want to get back into it and spend more time taking it easy

The zine is finally live! 22 artists and 5 writers worked super hard over the summer to bring you Vanilla Extract: A Vanillaware Tribute Anthology! Over 25 illustrations and 5 pieces of writing spread across Vanillaware’s 7 games— plus some bonus general content as well! The digital bundle is pay-what-you-want and it includes: 🔹 the Vanilla Extract 80-page zine itself, laid out in about 40 spreads 🔹 a bonus WIP zine full of sketches and concepts 🔹 5 pixel badges 🔹 5 discord emotes 🔹 5 mobile wallpapers 🔹 4 desktop wallpapers 🔹 4 printable bookmarks 🔹 & a coloring page!

The zine will be costed until OCTOBER 17th, with any and all proceeds going to The Trevor Project at the end of the sales period. After that, the zine will be made free to download as our treat for the 20th anniversary!

oc rambling bc i realize i never actually talk abt my kids here... reverie and ciel (first img) used to be regular human messengers like aveline and pascal, years ago. assigned partners and eventually grew into a well-known duo despite a one-sided rivalry on reverie’s part, and maybe even ?? more ????

at some point ciel “betrays” reverie and a huge fight ensues. they both die!!! but not really?! they both ascend into a higher plane of existence without resolving their baggage from years ago. now they both work under the same god with a lot of awkward tension :^)
