A small flight cycle for our mailman ! (He had a beard when we started designing him, but he lost it in the end because it would have been a nightmare to animate)
If you haven't yet, you can find our graduation movie La Quête de l'Humain (Search of the Human) on Youtube here !!!
LA QUÊTE DE L'HUMAIN - Animation short film 2022 - GOBELINS
(English subtitles available)
Our graduation movie is out !! So proud of my team (Team Café the best crew ever) and what we managed to get done in a year.
Hope you’ll have fun watching Gerror’s journey across his (flat) world, because we definitely did while creating it !
There is an instagram account for the film at @laquetedelhumain.gobelins where you will find WIPs, exclusive pictures, probably more stupid stuff, and news about possible future projects related to the short (we’ve been working on it)
Keyshots, colorboard and an illustration/cover for Hey Orpheus, a personal project of mine that I started working on during a visual development assignment. It is about the story of Orpheus trying to get his lover Eurydice out of Hell, but based on the song “It’s Never Over (Hey Orpheus!)” from Arcade Fire and in a more general way on the visuals from the whole Reflektor era.
A few animations I worked on during my internship at La Chouette Compagnie in 2021 ! You can see the final result in the Imago series that’s been out for a few weeks now.
I let the storyboard (which I didn’t make) on low opacity of some of them for it to be understandable.
School’s 2D/3D acting assignment from last year :)
As you can see I was a bit more involved into the 2D part. The audio comes from an amazing Canadian series called “Le coeur a ses raisons”.
When she agreed to follow her two best friends to the Naughty Dog that night, Daisy expected many things. Havig fun and drinking martinis, meeting cute boys and girls, dancing through the night... but she clearly didn’t think she would fall in love.
Shots I animated for a music video that won't come out in the end. You can also find them on my instagram (same name), maybe the quality there will be better than those gifs :)
Created in 1985 in the center of Brooklyn, the Naughty Dog quickly became the most popular underground dog bar in NYC. Mostly famous for its huge dancefloor and the disco dancing contests it helds every first Friday of the month, the Naughty Dog is also the place where legends are born, since many famous bands made their debuts on its stage.
As an open-minded and progressive place, the Naughty Dog welcomes everybody, as long as they are neither humans nor cats.
A styleframe for my project UpDog Funk :)
The definitive version is the first one (with all the chromatic aberrations) but since I spent lots of time on the details of the background, I also put the un-composited picture here.
Back in Fall I took part in a collaborative workshop between Gobelins and CalArts. This is the video I made with zooooniverse ! She did the character designs, backgrounds and the colorscript, I did the animation, compositing (rushed it in the middle of the night...) and the “sound design” (rushed it even later in the night). The music is an intrumental version for Patrick Hernandez’s Born to be alive :)
It’s supposed to loop but here it doesn’t, there’s a looped version with a substancial lag on my instagram if you want.
Pidgeons are the coolest birds you can’t change my mind
It's actually a crossbreed between an illustration (the character/drawing is mine) and a study, I think ? I used James Ayer's painting Courage and Honor as a reference for the colors, because it was the exact skintone I wanted. It also allowed me to try new painting brushes on procreate without bothering too much...
