Been thinking about a headcanon I have for Darlin lately

Darlin has a proclivity for imitating accents and ways of speaking. It's something they picked up since their family moved around a lot before they joined the Shaw pack.

After they spent time around Milo, they started to mimic his accent, which led to some misunderstandings between the two. Milo thought that they were making fun of him, until he saw them doing the same with Christian and they finally just sat down and talked about it. It was laughed off and just accepted within the pack as one of their quirks.

When they got mixed up with Quinn, it happened again. Except he wasn't one to laugh it off or believe them when they swore they weren't mocking him. They were such a terrible person, ridiculing how a person spoke, right? It was just another reason why they should be grateful to him, for being with them despite all their faults. (You know, typical gaslighting on his part)

Darlin tried to not do it when they started seeing Sam, but once they were living with him, it started to slip out. They imitated his Southern twang or his sayings. And every time they worried if they'd offended him, if they'd hurt him. That's what they were good at, after all.

It wasn't until Sam laughed softly after they'd slipped up, pulling them closer so he could press his lips to their cheek.

"I think you've been spendin' too much time with me, Darlin'. If my accent is rubbin' off on ya."

But human existence...er....is not just staying alive it's finding something to live for. You can't do that when you push everyone away. Your work... is great. But what is the point of making machines alive, when you yourself are dying to make it?

Tattoo artist AU + Flower store AU where Angel is the tattoo artist and David is the florist.

It's both adorable and hot as fuck when David sees Angel's tattoos. Because in all the times he's seen them outside, they're wearing a jacket or cardigan. He walks in their shop for a lunch date and they're just there in a tank top, looking fine as fuck. Then they'd steal David's line in the pool audio: I know I'm pretty but the food'll get cold if you just keep staring.

Also, florist David makes total sense if you remember the audio they were fixing up the backyard of their house. But it's adorably funny that he sticks to the style he has in canon, leather jacket and everything.

Their first meeting would be the same as canon but the stalker allegation is slightly true. They're at a garden that works as a sightseeing area and selling plants. Angel sees that David analyzes every item before putting it in his cart, even asking the staff assigned to that area about the proper way of taking care of it. So they just sort of stand somewhere near while listening to their conversations like the weirdo that they are instead of asking him or a staff.

The place they live in have a balcony and they wanted to use the place for a mini garden. But they couldn't just pick a plant and put it there. Hence, their reason for going to that garden.

The frequency of David's visit to their house makes you think they're dating. Especially with how he moves there like he's been living with them. He uses the excuse of making sure the plants they got were alive and well.

Oh the miscommunication + angst potential of this!

i would like to go to bat for cutie real quick, not to excuse anything they did because it was consistently fucked up, but because i love them and how imperfect they are. geordi was so correct for pushing them towards therapy because they seriously needed to work their shit out. having their powers manifest in (presumably) their teens really fucked them up to the point that telepathy is a compulsion. you can feel it in 'asks for your trust' at the end when there's that long pause between geordi saying goodnight and cutie listening in - like they were wrestling with that decision before ultimately making the wrong choice because they just had to know. and hell, even geordi says multiple times that this is a deep-seated issue.

like, it's a compulsion. sometimes thoughtless, sometimes all-consuming. it's not just something they're doing for the fun of it. they're in unfamiliar waters and something (likely their unempowered childhood around empowered family) led to them being so weird about having to know everything. personally i also think they've developed a habit of molding themself to fit the expectations and wants of whoever they're with and not being able to track that all the time with geordi makes them act out, but i digress. i couldn't even finish this audio because i had to get up and walk it off and now i've forgotten my original point. sorry for rambling about cutie again i just have a lot of feelings and thoughts about them that i don't know how to put into words
