lol, tumblr
So, this whole NSFW deletion debacle. I was already resolved to not coming back to Tumblr for personal reasons and this just reinforces it, but it’s such a shitshow that I can’t help but be kind of amused. Of course, this fucks over the livelihoods of many artists who’ll have to start over from scratch. In my case, I’ve already moved on to Twitter a long while ago.
So for shits and giggles, I’m going through my blog and checking out what’s been flagged. Here are the results after 72 pages.
Actual NSFW Posts (all under readmores or thumbnails): 8 out of like ~40 posts
Shirtless Male Characters: 2
RL Photos/Videos, Such as Cosplay or Pets: 10
Video Game Screenshots: 1
Greg Land Escher Girls Trace-over: 1 (admittedly understandable)
SFW Art: 12
I’ve requested reviews on all but the appropriately flagged NSFW posts but I doubt any actual human being will look at the requests, because I doubt any actual human beings work at Tumblr. Personally, I’m actually fine with my NSFW work being deleted; anything on the internet can be traced back to you, and so I would prefer to keep my work on private accounts from now on. My past works are a source of embarrassment for me anyway.
Now the question is whether Tumblr will actually reverse its decision after all the negative backlash. I don’t remember a time it has actually undone any changes that people were displeased with, so I’m not holding my breath.
