Yes! There will be one available right away on June 4. :)

(I recently had to record pronunciations of various words for the narrator, which was honestly wild to me because I had no idea myself about how I wanted to pronounce some of these things……but it’s definitely wrapping up by now.)

I've been meaning to ask - are pre-orders helpful to you or does it not matter if we buy it now or wait until the release?

They’re actually super helpful! If there are lots of preorders for a book, it means that bookstores and libraries are more likely to stock it and there will be more interest in it. Preorders can sometimes make or break a book! So if you do plan to get the book, preorders are the way to go. 😁

I'm so glad!! Honestly sometimes I'll read fantasy and if it isn't particularly spicy then I have no idea if it's YA or not 😅 so hopefully it'll be like that for you!

I have no doubt you get this all the time, but I just want to say that I absolutely adore Send Up a Signal. Though I joined the SQ and OUAT fandom pretty late (around mid-last year), I’ve read a countless amount of SQ stories. This one is without a doubt one of my favourites, it’s also made me realise how much I enjoy the meta-genre in fan fiction. Just want to finish by saying you are incredibly talented as an author, and as a less-talented and still-developing fanfic writer myself, I really admire your works. Thank you for putting all the time and effort into creating them :)

Nothing like that! I think there are thousands of successful fic writers out there and I think you’d need to have, like, tens of thousands of kudos to even make an argument for an audience. I did it the old-fashioned way- writing and querying and submitting until an agent and an editor were interested!

It is an exhausting, self-defeating thing, protecting two sides who are so diametrically opposed. “It was…a misunderstanding.” Emma laughs bitterly. “That’s the most unconvincing argument you’ve ever tried, and you’re a professional liar.” She takes in a breath, and her fists loosen. “And I still want to believe it. How pathetic am I?” She paces, her agitation growing with each step. “I have these…these stupid dreams where you somehow make it all okay. Where you say all the right things and it all makes sense and I can finally let myself…” She laughs again. “Like some childish fantasy where it all works out in the end. I used to do this back at Rumple’s castle, you know? Imagine how you’d be singing to me and you’d look at me and I would just know��that you…that we could be… And I guess you were saving it all for Mal.”

Regina feels a flash of fury so hot that it gives her strength to stand, to stride toward Emma with magic wrapping around her legs and keeping them steady. “We swore our allegiance to your mother,” she snarls. “But we are not your prisoners of war to be judged.” A lie, but one Emma must not know. “Don’t forget that you owe us as well. We stood back and allowed your mother to kill Rumple instead of wiping out your army.” “We freed you,” Emma snaps back, her eyes glittering with outrage. “You stood back because we saved you.” “Spare me the nonsense. You didn’t come to the castle to save us,” Regina says, stalking toward Emma. There is heat between them, electric. Emma doesn’t move, and Regina gets in close to her, their glares locked. It’s painful. It’s the most alive that Regina’s felt in a year. “You came to take your vengeance. And you got it. We were an afterthought.” “No,” Emma hisses, and some of the color drains from her face, some of the ferocity replaced with a sudden tiredness. “You weren’t.”

Emma exhales. “I hear– it’s supposed to be lovely there,” she says, and there is so much wistful longing in her voice that Regina wonders if she might have been from there, before. Or perhaps it is only the tantalizing promise of anywhere but here. “By the time you return, my exploit should be finished. Maybe you can try to run with me. If you want to.” Regina’s heart is light and heavy at once. She knows her contract, just as she knows that Emma must have one, too. There will be no escape, but Emma has always been lost in her own dreams. Perhaps Regina can grant her a few moments of indulgence. “Maybe I will,” she says.
