As good a suspect as any 🕵️ #george hodel #black dahlia #losangeles
Did George Hodel kill Elizabeth Short?
For nearly 70 years people have speculated as to who killed Elizabeth Short aka the Black Dahlia. One man was Steve Hodel and the man he suspected to have killed the Black Dahlia is none other than his own father George Hodel. After spending 17 years on the LAPD Steve came to this conclusion.
Police believe that who ever killed Short had a plethora of medical knowledge, something George didn’t have shortage of. George studied surger in medical school which gave him the knowledge need to dissect a body, perhaps it gave him the knowledge to dissect Short’s body in two.
Steve Hodel also found his father had pictures of a woman that ressembled short in a photo album. When a forensic artist looked at the pictures the artist said he was 85% certain that the woman was not Short. But when using facial recognition software in 2014 there was a 90-95% match that the woman was Short. Both these results were inconclusive.
He also believed his father’s hand writing to be that similar of the Dahlia Murderer who sent a letters taunting the police. When a hand writing experts looked at the sample of George’s handwriting and the Dahlia’s killer there were mixed results. Some said probable and some said inconclusive.
The police even suspected George at one point and bugged his home where he had a secret room the children were not allowed to enter. He was caught on tape saying “Suppose I did kill the Black Dahlia. They couldn’t prove it now. They can’t talk to my secretary anymore because she’s dead”.
Did George Hodel Kill The Black Dahlia? We may never know and even if he did there is no justice other than being able to solve the case as George died in 1999.
Let me know what you think. Is George a good suspect or did someone else kill Elizabeth Short back in 1947?
