WHAT'S NEXT?

COMMON ROOM is currently still exhibited on medienkultur.eu and in Museum Schloss Fechenbach in Dieburg as part of the media art exhibition „Nature and Metamorphosis – Digital Ways to an Ecology“. During the exhibition‘s finissage on 11. July, 15:30 PM (CEST), the City of Dieburg‘s Young Media Culture Prize will be awarded - you can vote for your favourite project for a few more days!

At the same time, I‘m working on making this project more accessible: I‘m preparing image descriptions for all currently published posts as well as German versions of all texts.

There will also be some more LET‘S TALK dates soon in which I will offer you support for creating your own art pieces.

WIE GEHT ES WEITER?

Aktuell ist COMMON ROOM noch als Teil der Medienkunstausstellung „Natur und Metamorphose - Digitale Wege zu einer Ökologie“ unter medienkultur.eu und im Museum Schloss Fechenbach in Dieburg zu sehen. In der Finissage der Ausstellung am 11. Juli, 15:30 Uhr wird der Nachwuchspreis Medienkultur der Stadt Dieburg verliehen - noch wenige Tage könnt ihr für euer Lieblingsprojekt abstimmen!

Parallel arbeite ich daran, das Projekt barrierefreier zu gestalten: Ich verfasse Bildbeschreibungen für alle bereits veröffentlichten Posts sowie deutschsprachige Versionen aller Texte.

In Kürze gibt es auch wieder ein paar LET‘S TALK Termine, in denen ich euch für die Erstellung eigener Kunstwerke Unterstützung anbiete.

THE FUTURE OF THE PROJECT

With submissions for STAGE 2 ending today, my creative support as part of my thesis has ended - for now! But the project will continue:

You can still use the building blocks to create your own COMMON ROOM art pieces and submit them to be posted on the project accounts, but it might take a bit longer for me to get back to you as I am now finalising my thesis. Art pieces submitted until mid March might still be included in my thesis!

After my thesis, I will be available to support you in creating your own art pieces again and will also create some myself to continue this project and the questions it poses - you can expect me back by May/June this year.

PROMPT 4: WRITING

It’s time to create! (STAGE 2: 01. February – 19. February 2021)

STEP 1 - take a look at the building blocks and consider: *Which pieces look most familiar to you? How do you feel about the unfamiliar ones? *Which pieces do you consider most suitable for a community space? *Do some pieces trigger memories? *Where do you think the different pieces could exist? Who uses them? What is their function, what’s their purpose? (more questions to spark your creativity on https://commonroom2020.tumblr.com/about)

STEP 2 - write something: *Choose any and as many building blocks or shared rooms as you like. You can also use your COMMON ROOM from PROMPT 1! *Write a short story, a poem, a few sentences, a song - anything! - about a fictional person, or a group of people, using the objects or simply existing in the room you chose. *What are they doing? Are they sharing a meal? Are they listening to or making music? How are they feeling? Where in the room are they, which objects are they interacting with?
