Well I just learned a new upsetting thing about systemic ableism today.

the twitter libs say insane things abt every topic and doordash is insanely exploitative like almost every other section of our current food systems. tht doesnt mean a lot of you arent ableist as hell in the ways you talk about disabled people who use services like doordash. like im sorry are youse guys really gonna side w people arguing that everyone can 'stand up for fifteen minutes' and prepare meals. like yes frozen food is great and i rely heavily on it, that doesnt change the fact tht sometimes the steps it takes to take food out of the freezer, clean the pans, and cook the food are in fact insurmountable tasks for some people.
like? damn i agree doordash is horrific to its workers and so is the factory that packages the frozen food and the farms where the frozen vegetables and meat come from and so is the fast food and sit down restaurant insutrues. the answer to those issues is not just stop eating entirely. it systemic change

this is your thanksgiving reminder that the chinook tribe is still fighting for federal recognition, which means they are unable to access programs and resources. please take some time today to sign their petition and donate if you’re able to. and if you live in washington or oregon please write to your elected officials.

absolutely kills me when people are like “oh, but without police, who will manage the traffic?” as if traffic management requires a license to kill

To be clear: the WGA are still on strike! Them and the studios have reached a deal, but it's not in writing just yet, and the contract needs to be approved on all sides
So the guild still wants writers to strike, encouraging them to join the SAG-AFTRA picket line

Do you write music with the view of being politically active and delivering a message or does it just happen and the rest follows?

All jokes aside I really do see 9/11 as one of the truly most evil and cursed events to happen in human history. Not because of the people who died in the actual attacks - easily dwarfed by a countless list of crimes against humanity and mass acts of violence the US alone commits every year just to sustain itself - but because of their fallout and the world order they produced. My entire life more or less has been lived in the shadow of forever wars, of the national security state, of ever-increasing militarism, of the so-called "Middle East" being torn and retorn apart over and over and over again and it getting worse with every single reconfiguration. There isn't going to be a way out until the entire US empire collapses under its own weight, and until then we'll all continue to suffocate.

So fun story, I took some time off from college because I had to get some mental health treatment. When I left, the dean promised me that my yearly rate would stay the same & all my scholarships would still be there. When I (planned) on returning, the price had gone up five thousand dollars, per semester. I was quite obviously upset and I begged the office there if there was anything I could do to lower the price back down. One advisor had the audacity to tell me just not sign up for the meal plan. I had taken a break due to an eating disorder.

hey just fyi if you want to do something to support the WGA and SAG-AFTRA and other ppl in the industry who are being affected by the strike, you can donate to the Entertainment Community Fund!
if you can't afford to donate, here's the WGA page with more info on how you can support them
if you work in entertainment (not just writers and actors), and you need help paying for housing, food, utilities, healthcare, etc, here is the link to their social service and emergency financial assistance page. and additionally here is more info on how they can help, even if you don't qualify for or need emergency financial assistance

Strike is on. Actors will be joining the writers on the picket lines. This is the first strike in 60 years for SAG, and essentially shuts down the entire US film and television industry.
