sunset battles make every kaiju movie more epic. bright enough to see what's going on. dim enough to look indistinct and ominous.

At one time the final battle in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire took place in Moscow instead of Rio de Janeiro. I assume this was changed in light of Russia invading Ukraine (preproduction on the film began the previous month).

The first three pieces are by MUTO designer Matt Allsopp and the last is by Raj Rihal (with full Instagram post included because he used an amusing name for the Skar King).

Given the massive tonal shift across the five Monsterverse movies you know what's the funniest thing the MV could possibly do?

Now this gritty, serious, shell-shocked war veteran who fit right in with the first movie'a foreboding gloomy atmosphere now feels hilariously out of place next to an Ace Ventura-esque Titan dentist, a conspiracy-obsessed podcaster and a psychic deaf girl who's friends with a magical moth goddess and a titan gorilla with an axe and a robot arm.

Ford: (sighs) "Look what everything's come to in a decade."

(Also it'd be adorable if Godzilla sees him again and remembers him.)

The whiplash would be hilarious, and as the movie progresses Ford just goes along with everyone's nonsense with the same grimly determined face as when he prepped for a HALO drop back in 2014, and even pulls his own nonsense. Like if he's separated from the group and they're locked up in a cell.

Ford: Huh. Looks like this cell needs some hacking to unlock

Trapper: Oh, that explains why my lock picking didn't work! Military taught you how to hack, right?

Ford: No. *EXPLODES THE DOOR OFF* All right, let's go.

Pride: have you seen the arrogance of the hamster. they have the misplaced courage of a lion. actually forget that comparison. a lion is a ferocious apex predator with every right to be courageous. a hamster is a 5 ounce nugget that will bite a giant hairless primate 50 times its size. there's a reason they infamously die in bizarre ways like a rodent Diavolo

Greed: those cheeks are meant for hoarding seeds like a furry Smaug on his treasure heap

Gluttony: again the cheeks. also they will eat their own children if they're so much mildly inconvenienced. "oh shit someone rearranged my cage. time to murder my progeny"

Envy: extremely territorial. will hoard food so no one else can have it. will raid other hamsters' food stash. friendship is an alien word in hamsterspeak. there are only "enemies I hate slightly less"

Wrath: keeping hamsters is a bit like Game of Thrones. lots of murder. lots of violence. and...

Lust: ...lots of inbreeding. they'll screw anything that moves. they'll make lots of babies quickly and eat some of them and it wouldn't dent their numbers much. "your mother was a hamster" is definitely a meaningful insult. not sure about the elderberries tho

Sloth: nocturnal, sleeps most of the day and still somehow finds enough time to be horrid little fluffballs. can sleep so soundly that kids mistake them for dead and bury them

during a dinner table discussion with my family over the meaning of animal symbolism my mom made a conclusion that the hamster embodies all seven deadly sins all at once
