I just thought of something ironic with the giant amount of undeserved hate that Grace is receiving for the Thought Crime of shipping her character with Eddie:

Did Cara Buono, Karen Wheeler’s actress, ever receive this amount, if any at all, of harassment on social media for her character acting out those scenes with Billy in season 3?? Not saying Cara deserves any harassment at all for (gasp) acting with a fellow adult actor as part of her job, but I don’t recall ever hearing about her receiving hate, so it seems ironic and hypocritical of antis to behave that way towards Grace now over harmless imagination.

You know, i have always wanted to talk about the whole situation but there’s already so many posts discussing it, but since you asked, I shall give you my unnecessary long opinions, so please brace yourself and bare with me lol

The hate towards to the Eddissy ship has been ridiculous from the very beginning, like, it baffles me the age debate went on for this long and is still going. You may or may not agree me on this one, but I am just going to say this, whether Chrissy is 16 or 18, Eddie 17 or 20 or 21, their age gap can be 4 or 3 or 2 or 1. IT DOESN'T MATTER, there's nothing wrong or problematic with this ship to begin with, PERIOD. These are FICTIONAL characters in a FICTIONAL story, how ridiculous and absurd to apply real world laws and morals to fictional characters? By their logic, Vladimir Nabokov should hang for writing Lolita, and wait a minute, Jamie Campbell Bower plays a character that murders people and children in such a horrible way, why would he do that?? Doesn't Jamie know that killing people is illegal?? Does he support killers and promoting it? Why would he agree and took the job? Is he a psychopath in real life that actually enjoys killing?? We need to cancel him now this is so wrong and fucked up!!! #CANCELJCB2022

oh and now that we're at it, we should also throw 80% of ao3 fanfics writers to prison as well, good riddance am I right? Tons of fucked up fanfictions of fucked up ships there, also, people who writes about Joseph Quinn x Reader?? Sue them now, it's disgus...oh what did you say? It's actually 100% fine and legal to write smut about a real-life actor with yourself? oh shit, fucking hell that actually make sense! How silly of me! I'm so sorry, you see the thing is, my brain is very underdeveloped and I don't really know what's right and what's wrong and I certainly can not separate fictions from reality, my bad😔(🥳)

The list could go on forever and you probably get the drift. Anyway lol Bottom line is, either all of the ships are okay or none of them are okay, go figure(antis). We all die and nothing matters in the end, so remember that and indulge yourself in your fantasies and let others do so as well as long as they're not effecting or harming people in real life.

And let's be honest, we all know the reason why Grace received so much hate. (And the fact that it centers around Joseph Quinn felt so surreal lol, because personally I have loved Joseph's work before. I think he's a fantastic actor and he's actually the reason why I'm even watching season 4 of Stranger things lmao. I knew he's going to be phenomenal as Eddie but before ST he's just the typical British actor who's brilliant and minding his own business until boom, the sudden fame and popularity arise and you see all the "Joe stans" and all these dramas unfold which is just...wild. I mean I am really happy for him to be recognized for his hard work and talent, and hopefully this will boost his career even more, but still, the whole thing is pretty crazy.)

Like you said, the whole Grace situation IS indeed very ironic and hypocritical. (talking about double standard lol) we know that some antis sent terrible asks to Grace ANONYMOUSLY 🤣 If the antis are so right, if they get “LAWS”on their side (LMAO) why would they accusing Grace being problematic or weird while being anonymous? Why hide behind it? What are you afraid of? Surely you're not afraid of being...cyberbullied right🤔? If I were the antis I'd have my username on full display and let her know what a terrible person she is, if she is indeed problematic or whatever they think of her. But Grace is not is she? She's just a lovely person who DID NOTHING WRONG. And apparently there’s also people calling her a pedophile for liking Eddissy?! They don’t even know the the definition of that term and they just throw that around like it’s nothing? Take legal actions now Grace!!

Let’s switch Eddissy with Steddie, If it’s Joe Keery or Joseph Quinn publicly speaking about the ship and fanfics and fanarts, they will be screaming crying throwing up foaming at the mouth while yelling “YaaaSsss we stan kings!” Right? And it’s not like they actually care about whether the Eddissy is a healthy relationship or not, the ship is just too canon that it gets in their way of shipping Eddie with another character, and sees Eddissy/Grace as a threat I suppose. Like…why? Why do you feel the need to do so and Why do you need confirmation from the actors or the duffer brothers or whoever for a ship that you like? If Grace doesn’t care or speak about Eddissy, I’d still enjoy them as much as I do now. Because that’s what matters most. I can ship Eddie with a guitar or Chrissy with the Pom Pom if I fucking want to, if the chemistry is there. Do whatever you like, it’s fictions love, there’s no limits, no boundaries. Don’t worry about it, and there’s certain no need to harass/hate on others because of it. Just calm the fuck down please.

Grace's whole situation and what's been happening on twitter really reminds me of the Humanity stand-up Ricky Gervais did, the part where he was talking about social media, especially twitter.

If it's not for you, just ignore it and walk away. It's that simple, yet year 2022 here we still fucking are. And antis are so jealoused and obsessed and in love with Grace they don't even know it. So my friend brought up a very valid point on discord

What if… part of the reason why Eddie got held back for two years in high school was also bc of his crush on Chrissy? And so the reason why he felt that it was “his year” in 1986 was because it was also the same year that Chrissy was supposed to graduate on???? 😭😭😭

hi just got some munningham brain rot to share. Maybe this is due to the anti’s but I don’t think Eddie and Chrissy would get together in hs. Like I LOVE the idea of popular x freak and all the fun that comes w it but hear me out

Eddie is clearly a very caring guy. He actively made a space to help and protect outcast and bullied kids so they don’t feel alone. Chrissy herself isn’t too different tbh she’s just in the popular crowd but she clearly feels alone if she couldn’t even tell her boyfriend about her nightmares or eating disorder. I feel like Eddie and the fact she feels safe w him after a few months of them just hanging out and trusting each other she’d eventually open up to him and Eddie isn’t an idiot he clearly notices something was up within the first few minutes of them meeting so I think he’d totally clock she isn’t mentally okay.

I feel like for the remainder of their senior year he’d care more about trying to help her with her mental health and encourage her to open up more to her counsellor than actively try to peruse a relationship because he isn’t the sort of guy to take advantage of someone in a vulnerable state of mind (not that people struggling mentally can’t be in loving relationships it’s just at that point w her breaking up w her boyfriend and dealing w her home life it would just be less important to him than making sure she feels like she has someone to truly rely on). I think they’d still flirt but just more they are on that line of is this jokes or do we truly mean it. Cue mutual pinning!!

Ofc as they grow the others would make comments about them but I feel like they’d both laugh it off and be like ‘what no us were just friends totally just friends 100% for sure haha…ha’ and be totally oblivious as to if the other actually likes them. Dustin would 100% be getting grey hair dealing w them and Steve (and Nancy…). They’d have moments over the years of them being like oh shit are we having a moment or is this just normal or the typical about to kiss and the kids burst in vibes. But the mutual pinning would be so strong.

Eventually they’re like 23 or smth Eddie is still touring w his band Chrissy number one fan ofc who’s doing great maybe she’s got a job as a dance teacher which is a hc I low-key love I feel like she’d be so cute w kids (but also her studying psychology or smth is also a vibe give me therapist Chrissy telling Eddie random facts about how the brain works). And maybe it’s time for some jealousy… eddie’s band getting attention and we can see he’s a fine man girls and guys wouldn’t be shy to flirt w him in front of Chrissy and ooof our girlie is conflicted rn cos possessive Chrissy is fun. The urge to be like ‘sorry he’s mine’ is so strong and if Eddie was like ‘hey can we pretend to be a thing to get these people to leave me alone’ her brain goes poof and heart goes boom pretending to be a proper couple in front of his fans. And it’s not hard to believe considering Eddie’s already been dedicating songs to her for YEARS hell give me Eddie learning Chrissy’s fave pop song and putting a metal spin on it PLEASE. Ofc Eddie is no better w his reactions he’s getting flushed w his arm around her and her looking at him like that. Now to be honest Chrissy probably has enough people hitting on her in general. She’s the queen of Hawkins high and a rep like that would probably stick not to mention the rumour mill when she started hanging w Eddie. Eddie picking her up from work when random dads try to keep her talking and ofc scary dog privileges come w Eddie and his rep. Eddie would defo feel jealous about the fact so many people hit on Chrissy but she’s always rejecting them which makes no sense to him but then again no one deserves an angel like her. Maybe some Eddie not feeling like enough angst considering he’s quite a vulnerable guy himself.

I feel like eventually all this would ofc come to a head in some big stupidly cheesy romantic scene which Eddie would totally comment on just for Chrissy to finally kiss him to shut him up for once as he’s just like brain empty. And that’s as far as my silly brain rot has gotten so I hope you enjoy sorry for the length just the years of mutual pinning would be so good and I’m someone who calls friends to lovers dull but if it’s them I’m on board.

Please don't tell me antis are still bitching about their age-gap?

Hi and again sorry for the late reply and YEEESSS to the mutual pining/slow burn I live for it lol, and I do 100% agree with you. I think it would kind of make sense for them to not be together like, instantly, despite the chemistry between them. I love the idea of them really get to know each other and spend time together to make up for the lost time🥰, and like you said, Eddie is a very caring person(like even in his last moment, he still made sure that Dustin would look after the lost sheep for him and told Dustin he loves him) and Chrissy, who's clearly suffered a lot. I think Eddie would just put her well-being first and focus on healing her wounded soul (time for Eddie to work his magic and become Chrissy's salvation, and vice versa)

Not to mention they both think each other as "mean and scary", not literally ofc, but because their own insecurity and personal problems, I suppose it will be pretty hard for them to approach each other, to actually make a move and go there? So yeah, would love an ultimate slow burn and desperate longing and all that delicious sexual tensionss then just slowly work their way into a beautiful and healthy relationship. 💅🏻✨

I feel like Wayne Munson would be the perfect character to really help Eddie and Chrissy with their romantic relationship? Imagine the three of them go on a vacation where Eddie was doing some dumb shit or just being Eddie while Chrissy and Wayne just sit there watching him with a fond smile, and Wayne would take the opportunity to open up to her about Eddie and everything...and Chrissy suddenly realize that oh shit I'm in love with him. And we know Wayne and Eddie would give Chrissy the "family" that she truly deserves. Anyway, I'm not a writer by any means so I will stop here but for all the fantastic Eddissy writers out there, please explore the relationship between Eddie, Chrissy and Wayne Munson more I would love to read it 🥺

As for jealous Chrissy, I had this silly little headcanon where Chrissy would get jealous of Eddie's sweetheart🎸

because Chrissy overheard Eddie talking to her 🎸 and how much he loves her when Chrissy literally thought they were going to get together and she became super upset and sulky. Eddie notices it and eventually finds out the reason and can't stop smiling like an idiot while secretly enjoys the jealous very much 😏 and one day He just asks Chrissy out and tells her: “ listen Cunningham, I really want you to meet the woman of my life, and then ta-da it's a fucking guitar 🎸then proceeds to confess his love for her, because Chrissy is the one and only (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و💖 It’s ridiculous, I know 🤣

this scene was my favorite to film.

one of my last days on set, and near the end of the georgia filming block so everyone was rushing around and we didn't have a lot of time.

joe and i read it pre-covid... before ever being cast in our parts, or meeting each other, or filming anything, and immediately held high expectations for it. we talked about how excited and nervous we were to film "the forest scene."

the duffers said they cast me because it was hard to find a girl portraying Chrissy as sweet. but she was always a cinnamon roll to me.

after filming completed, the duffers told me it's one of their favorite scenes in all four seasons. joe and i are so happy with it. i am so overwhelmed by the response to Chrissy.

no one could have predicted this outcome but i am so beyond grateful. thank you

It's so cute to think about how if Chrissy was included in the scooby gang/survived the attack, she and Eddie would've been joined at the hip. And then when Chrissy was distracted by something else, Steve would ask Eddie, "hey, what's with you and Chrissy Cunningham?" Eddie would be like, "what do you mean" and Steve would be like, "she's stuck to you like glue and have you seen the way she looks at you?" And Eddie wouldn't believe she likes him back because like Joe said, there's a vulnerability there and a need to be accepted.

So sorry for the late reply anon, been really busy with work and other stuff.😔

It's funny cause I've been thinking about this scenario these past few days, not with Steve, but Dustin.

Dustin, being the wise man he is, will notice that something's not quite right with Eddie whenever they hang out at the hellfire club or other places, but he could never tell what it is exactly, not until the day when Chrissy finally comes to Eddie's hideout gig. Dustin's also there that day, for some reason, ya know, cause Eddie probably demanded him to be there, for obvious reason😏 and Eddie's just completely smitten with her the whole time and then Dustin's like oh shit 👀👀👀

After Chrissy went home, Eddie still in a trance, Dustin will just be like: so, we gonna talk about it? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)✧

and Eddie "the nope" Munson absolutely did not want to talk about it.

And if it's between Steve and Eddie, Steve would probably just try to teach him everything he knows while Eddie sits there be like, taking note: "gotta have chest hair chicks dig them okay got it✍🏻.." and it all didn't work out because Chrissy simply loves Eddie for who he is (◡‿◡🌸)

anyway on a more serious note lol personally I prefer and L O V E the idea of Chrissy hanging out with Eddie's little lost sheep gang more than anything else. Not that the dynamics between Chrissy Steve, Nancy, Robin etc would be bad, it's just that the unlikely friendship trope does things to me😇. I always think about how happy and content Chrissy would be when she goes to see Eddie and his band perform at the hideout, she'd probably be a bit shy at first, but then just dancing and vibing alongside the five drunks lol Because I think, deep down, Chrissy is also a little lost sheep, a little “freak”, and it would be so wholesome to see the queen of hawkins high sits at the same table as the outcasts, giggling at their silly jokes or nerdy stuff she has no clue about, while the rest of the school goes 🤯😱, and don’t even get me started on how sweet and beautiful the relationship between Chrissy and Wayne Munson would have been!🥺😔

And about the vulnerability of Eddie...Yes.

You see, I think Eddie and Chrissy's story is just absolutely tragic if you look at it from Eddie's pov, like, the more I think about it the sadder it gets lol

That cocky, pretentious and synical Eddie Munson in the cafeteria suddenly became this coy little teenage boy when he's in front of Chrissy, who he probably had a crush on ever since middle school, who he could only secretly admire from afar. Because the freak and the queen? Surely that's never going to happen? And Eddie probably knew that better than anyone else. But still, he longed to be remembered by her, to be noticed by her. "You know, this isn't the first time we've ..umm..hung out. You don't remember🥺?" (´•̥ω•̥｀)

And Chrissy probably longed for him too, she just didn't really know it then.

And when Eddie realized that he was able to make her smile, he just went all in, boy's desperate lol

Anyway, It's just gut-wrenching that the day when they finally crossed path again, the day that's supposed to be the start of something for them, was also the day they lost each other, especially for Eddie(´•̥ω•̥｀)

so yeah, ended up writing a book and I don't even know what I'm talking about anymore lmao. Anyway I hope this kind of makes sense? and sorry for any grammar errors etc, not a native speaker lol
