They really do capture our attention and keep us interested in the movie. I know it isn't accurate but the way the dialogues and the acting are so smooth it almost makes me believe that the characters portrayed are really enjoyable
All in all, something I enjoyed. Journey to Bethlehem is a decently solid modern take on the Nativity story with a pretty great soundtrack. I enjoyed laughing my way through most of the deliberately absurd scenes bc there's really no /comedy/ in the Nativity story so they had to add some to engage a younger audience. It /absolutely/ feels like those 'he gets us' commercials that have been popping up in the last couple years. It's /clearly/ propaganda for a failing sector of the population, which is young people devoting themselves to a church.
My distance from the religion means I enjoyed this movie on a purely entertaining level. I'd hesitate to show this to tiny humans unless you intend to find equally engaging pieces of media based in other mythologies and creation stories so they can have a broad sense of what all peoples consider good and just and sacred. Let them decide for themselves what mythos of religion to uphold.

maybe religious trauma can be solved and the answer is a high school musical-esque musical based on jesus birth

No, I'm sorry, this musical is so much fun and also do you know how starved I've been for a musical movie where the songs are sung well? And all the people in this movie can sing. Some of them are even singers in their professional lives, and it's just. Fun. It's a fun movie. People should go see it.

What I truly loved between reading the manga vs watching the anime was the fight scenes were not detailed in the manga vs in the anime. It gives me smth to look forward to when I'm watching the anime despite knowing what will happen (≧▽≦)
The manga does show more fight scenes with the demons but of course the animation gives them justice. I love it

Not Madhouse having some pro animators doing simple hand wringing the likes of which has never been seen on screen. And then the weight of Stark's coat and later when Fern yeets hers...

Incredible.

That entire POV. Imagine sitting in a room and being paid to brainstorm that entire series of event?

I'm also thrilled by the way they aren't sacrificing small things for the sake of battle. It's bonkers we can have a fight this good that retains character moments like Fern's delicate stepping aside because she's way ahead of poor Lugner.

His cold and succint analysis of the situation was really superb lol He realised exactly where their differences lay and why he was getting owned.

one of my favorite things in dunmeshi is how chilchuck turns out to be the guy in the party with the least to hide despite how much he goes out of his way to act all secretive. like the more we learn about everyone else it seems like they’ve all got like trauma or crimes or even just oddities that they don’t share explicitly not bc they’re hiding anything, but just because it’s never come up, or it’s too much of a hassle to explain, or it just didn’t occur to them. meanwhile, Normal Man Chilchuck is finding new gray hairs every morning because his friends want to know how old he is and his darkest secret is that his wife left him for being… too secretive. like up against a monster-phile, a dark mage, a circus attraction and Schrödinger’s cannibal, him making such a big deal out of having three adult kids is kinda epic
