Dear Spokane,
At the turn of the new year, we started the Spokane Pandemic Postcard Project as a way to stay connected with our community through the winter and spring months of the pandemic. Over the next six months, we were delighted to receive 48 postcards from 21 artists. We're grateful to all who shared their art with us!
Thank you to our contributors: Billi Jo, Chan, Ezra, Horst, Justin, Katy, Laura, Leslie A., Leslie N., Lynnette, Megan, Nan, Nancy, Rich, Robert, Scott, and several anonymous artists.
And thanks to Spokane Public Radio, Spokane 7, Spark Central, Spokane Arts, Centre for Arts Workers, and Spokane Coeur d'Alene Living for helping to spread the word within the Inland Northwest!
💌
Sincerely, Spokane Correspondence Club

Our third postcard for June includes this poem:
"It's the last call For those old, tired ways A new breeze is coming through And we're so ready for it
After all the fires After all the storms Now is our chance To make something different"

Hello, and Happy July!
We hope all of our friends in the Pacific Northwest have been able to stay safe and cool during these extremely hot days. Like many cities in our region, Spokane had our hottest day on record a couple of days ago. It’s a great time to stay out of the heat and write letters!
The first postcard for our June theme of “something different” is by Nancy Eldridge. We thought it was great timing to spotlight this warm weather creature. Thank you, Nancy!

June's theme is "something different." Throughout the month, we invite you to submit a postcard with art inspired by the theme. It can be in any medium you choose, and postcards are welcome from anywhere in the world. Submission details are at correspondenceclub.tumblr.com/postcard-project.

Our third postcard for May is by Ezra, who shared this about the toad in the drawing:
"This is the Surinam (or Puri Puri) toad! She carries her babies in a layer of skin, all the way from eggs to mini toads. When they're ready, they just kind of pop out. It's super gross but also cool. I think they're fun, funky creatures and really dedicated moms."
Thank you, Ezra!

Dear Spokane,
With a delightfully warm end to April, meandering walks to the post office have brought almost as much joy as finding that new postcards have arrived for the pandemic postcard project. It's these kinds of things that have been keeping us grounded when much is uncertain.
Our theme for the month of May is "Carry." We invite you to submit a postcard with art inspired by the theme, in any medium you choose! Postcards are welcome from any location in the world. Please stop by correspondenceclub.tumblr.com/postcard-project for details.
We thank all of our contributors for helping to carry us through these months with their art!
Sincerely, Spokane Correspondence Club

Our fourth postcard for April is by Ezra, with a note that says, "These two are on vacation somewhere, floating in the ocean, living the dream. Is it weird I'm jealous of a seal and walrus?" 🍉
Thanks, Ezra!
