I genuinely think, all things considered, Star Wars Episode 8 is weaker than Episode 9.
9 at least Tried to be Interesting, Palpatine still being alive is an idea that Could have worked, Rey being a Palpatine Could have worked, the Death Star Dagger could have worked (better if it was the first death star wreckage, to give an idea that he had a back up plan once the first went down).
All I think that would have needed to change in 8 to make 9 a better (not great, just Better than it is) movie is swapping the first order's main ship for one of Palpatine's Death Star Destroyers to say that "Hey, these exist, and they got them from some mysterious benefactor", have Snoke say something about "and so, the old emperor's plans continue to come to fruition" to even put Palpatine back Into the series, have a one off moment where an old imperial comm line pings from an untraceable source, maybe make Snoke decay as "this body becomes undone" because he's a clone pumped full of dark side juice and have him reappear later "the dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some deem, unnatural". Maybe give Palpatine some sort of Anti-Force Ghost, something.
It wouldn't be a perfect fix, nor make 9 a Great movie, but it would at least temper some of the Bad caused by the different directors all moving against each other. At least then it'd largely just be disappointing, not quite Disasterous.
And just, throw away the whole force tele-snatch thing. I can deal with Rey pulling force lightning out of her ass, but that force teleporting small objects half way across the galaxy thing is just, so dumb.

So, Eggman's kinda weird, at least in the neighborhood. Everyone generally likes him and calls him the resident workaholic, but he'll absolutely fix Anything. People will bring him various busted bits of old tech just to see if he can fix it, and also to see how long it takes him to notice that one tiny wire is slightly misconnected.
They also have to stop him from Upgrading their stuff from time to time, he's particularly vocal about planned obsolescence and when he gets Interested by a project, so naturally Tails picked up on it.
Speaking of Tails, that's related to how he got his first pair of work goggles, helping out Eggdad with a project, imitating his boisterous laugh and swooshing his tails to the front of his tiny fox face as a pretend mustache.
Way back when, before Eggman found the lost boys, they stayed at a makeshift camp with a girl named Sally. Tails doesn't really remember her, but Sonic gets really quiet and distant eyed sometimes, usually when she and the Before Eggdad days comes up. Living together with Sally was alright, but as things go when kids try to figure things out for themselves, things happen.
"Come on little buddy, it's time for us to get moving."
"But what about Sally? Isn't she coming?"
Sonic's eye twitches slightly, almost a wince, "She said something about having something to go do, places to be and all. She'll be alright." He tries to placate the fox, his sad smile not quite reaching his eyes.
Tails doesn't notice for years.
He wonders, but never pries.
After all, Sonic would eventually tell him if something happened, wouldn't he?
(Sonic didn't Do anything back then, not to either of them. He never forgets it.)
Had an idea for a Sonic AU where Eggman adopts Sonic and Tails when they're young, but like, there's at least a simmer of angst in the background. He finds them bloody, mostly Sonic, while they're lost in the woods and promptly decides that that's no way for kids to live, so he adopts them basically then and there. Tails only seemed to have a little of the mess on him that Sonic had, like he was just a little too close to whatever happened.
Tails always thought Eggdad's Science Stuff was just, So Cool, and began helping out at the lab where he could. The little fox even learned how to fly from his old man.
Knuckles and Tikal are siblings, their mother is the local pastor and an old friend of Eggman's. Their father lives on Angel Island, and the kids alternate between spending time with either parent.
Shadow and Rouge in this are the cool high schoolers that intern at his lab one year, ones that both the Eggkids agree are just the coolest two people ever. One of their projects at Robotnik Inc is Omega, who they get to keep after they complete him. Tails shyly hangs around them, while Sonic almost seems to avoid them unless he's trying to emulate them.
Sonic, through all of this, has trust issues a mile wide. Eggman tries to get him to come out of his shell a bit, but doesn't to press too hard. Whenever the time before their adoption comes up, Sonic gets visibly tense. Eggdad's attempts at father-son bonding with Sonic are all super awkward, until he catches Sonic looking at a skateboard for a bit too long to not be interested in it. For his birthday like two weeks later, Eggdad gets his blue boy a hoverboard like you'd find in the Rider's series, the first of it's kind.
Beyond that, the only person he really comes out of his shell for that isn't family is the girl next door, Amy. Papa Eggman catches her alone one day and thanks her, Sonic is painfully difficult to get out of his shell, and that trust should never be betrayed. He tells her as much, pat pat on the shoulder, and walks away.
Eggman knows he should press a little about what happened to get them stuck in the woods, but he doesn't want to lose all the progress he made with Sonic. Tails took to him like a duck to water, but Sonic took forever before he realised there was no other shoe to drop.
Maybe the events of the games are Eggman testing his robots, and letting Sonic and Tails feel like heroes. Sonic's self esteem issues are more than enough reason for him to make elaborate things like this. Every time Sonic goes Super, however, it gets in his head. The power, the control, he never wants it to go away. It's thrilling, Freeing, everything he thinks he needs to make sure It never happens again. The Chaos Emeralds become like an addiction, and the Super Emeralds only make it worse.
Endgame: Flash forward several years after Sonic has and returns from his Chaos Emerald induced breakdown, and Sonic and Amy eventually become parents, and their kid is Silver.

So was anyone going to tell me the Kurzgesagt video on amino acid language was going to lead to me finding out they completely mapped the human genome, or was I just going to find that out today when the brain fox said "Proteins as Words? Sounds like the 3d writing we've been looking for forever, let's make this analogy a reality with the power of me!"
Like. Speaking human takes 20 core letters, but proteins are long as hell so you wouldn't want that as a direct Alphabet. But you could, in theory, analogize Amino Acids and Genetics as Language, a stupid complicated one, but one with rules and structure communicating cool genetic things. The One True Meat Language.
The letters are defined, they're the amino acids, afterwards there's the phonotactics, which are the rules for how words are formed, which you can stare at enough proteins and eventually figure something out for. Phonotactics just determines what's gibberish and what's plausible language. Then you look at the known functions of those proteins and make a definition out of them, and bam, now you're making a lexicon. Then there's grammar, which DNA, and from there, bam. Cool Meatlang, translate your friends!
20k different proteins in the human body? I'm brain fox enough to try for at least a week!

I kinda want to try to make a game for the old Atari 2600, partly because it's just a good console with Gamey Games with a Distinct Look and Sound, but also because it Has to be done in Assembly 6502, which is about as bare metal as you can get without going straight binary (side thing, the masochist in me wants to try to make a game of pong for the same console, but only in binary, just to say I did it)
Limitations breed creativity, and if you can make it on the Atari, you can make it on Anything, or at least learn how. 4 kilobytes of rom, paltry ram, and having to draw sprites live per scan line sounds like a good deep end to dive into to Really learn coding, or at the very least get some good habits about creative optimization.
Also kinda want to make some albums just experimenting with the Atari 2600's TIA, club, rock, pop, lofi with rain, just kinda see what works and how. The 2 Sound Channels/Voices with limited 32 Pitch range feels like a good starting point on the whole Music thing.

I think it's interesting that even in ancient days there was the occasional Chaos deity that hatched from a Cosmic Egg and birthed all creation, when the prevailing theory of the birth of the universe is the Big Bang, which feels to me like the same thing, fundamentally.
Indo-European pantheons have the motif, the Ogdoad in Egyptian Mythology has an aspect of the Egg, the Phoenicians dubiously had the Môt, the Greek Orphic tradition has Phanes, there's the Pangu in China, and that's just the first couple ones I can remember.
Either humans have some intrinsic understanding of nature and the universe, or we just like eggs.

In the beginning, for it was the beginning, there was an egg. How many eggs were in that original void is uncertain, but there was an egg, shelled in limitless potential, and it would one day be named the Azathoth-Ubbho-Satlha. The Demiruge.
When is uncertain, for it was before time and space and matter, but once the shell shattered in the blinding light of plasma symmetric, and it was Chaos, Nu, Tiamat, it would know many names but it would always be at core The Azathoth, for it was the Primordial Chaos, The Deep Dark Sea from which all sprung, The Big Bang that tore creation the Black Tapestry.
When the Chaos of Nature Cooled, twins became of it, The Milky Mist In The Void and The Darkness Between The Stars, and with their birth, Creation became a realm threefold. At the center was chaos-born Azath, and from it came the Dark Realm of Shogg and the Material World of Shugg.
From the Mist In The Void would spawn Yog-Sothoth, who is all of Time and all of Space, who is the All Encompassing Lurker At The Threshold, for Yog-Sothoth is the Key, Yog-Sothoth is the Gate, Yog-Sothoth is the way to see the Beautiful and Horrible Truth of Creation.
From the Darkness Between The Stars, Life Mother Shub-Ningkuratlh would spawn who would birth a Thousand Young in her image.
With the spawning of the Life Mother, Chaos Changed. The Original Chaos of Nature grew, expanded, and from a fissure was born The Dream Walker, The Crawling Chaos of a Thousand Faces, Nyarlathotep, Father of the Lucid Dream-Realm of Shagg. It would walk amongst the whole creation where there was life, a more personal chaos than its originator.
From the union of the Shub-Ningkuratlh and Yog-Sothoth were born twin blasphemies, Yeb The Black Flame of Whispering Mists and their twin, Nug The Torch of the Force of Mind. Unto Yeb would become the Gaseous Stars, unto Nug would become the Planetary Spheres. Unto them would be given the power to wipe clean, the Furnace to ignite the Torches and scorch at the whim of The Chaotic Azathoth.
From Yeb would birth Tsathoggua, the Sleeping Seal of the Dark Night-Stars in N'kai.
From Nug would birth Cthulhu, Sleeping High Priest of Deep-Sunk R'lyæxh Who Is To Come And Rise Again, for his sermon is Truth, and Truth is unavoidable. The Truth of the Stars was sealed once in those ancient days, but it shall rise in full again, seeping through cracks where Wandering Nyarlathotep travels.
The Literality matters not, there need not be a shucked oyster at the center of the galaxy for there to be Chaos in Nature, and Nature in Chaos. There need not be a three legged shapeshifter for there to be Dreams and the Chaos Amongst The Crowds. There need not be a 13 Irridescent Sphered Entity for there to be time or space, and there need not be a literal giant goat-adjacent monster for there to be Life, just as there need not be for a man with attitude issues and a cool beard to give and create thunder.
The story remains true, for there is life, and they simply Are. Life Is, Time and Matter Are, Chaos in Nature Is. It Is, They Are, and that is all they need to Be.
Besides, ever notice how in Lovecraft's stories the main "heroes" are all well to do White guys and everyone associated with the Mythos itself are all disenfranchised in some way? The cultists are all either poor white guys or just anyone Not-White, and the next example that comes to mind are the Shoggoths, which are a slave race created by the Elder Things which then rose up and killed their masters. The mythos has a Legacy and Image of being horrible and calamitous, but notice that the perspective is from people so disconnected from reality that they've crafted themselves a throne of lies they're afraid of being torn down.

YouTube recommendations are weird, because now I know clay is decently easy to make with the right dirt (dirt that looks cracked when dry, or holds a tire track shape for a long while), and then I found out what an olla is, and now I want to grab a shovel and make like, seven.
This was occuring while I was downloading some cool vr things for my new Oculus Quest 2.
The duality of man continues.

It just dawned on me that the reason I have a weird time making friends is that I'm a Bizarre person when it comes to the ideas I come up with, so anyone has to be comfortable with my unique brand of Chaos immediately.
Case in point, RPG Maker project where you start as a sperm and go on an epic quest to become born, and that's the player character creation part. The rest of the game is totally normal, and it never comes up again, but the lingering weirdness from the chapter zero lingers and makes you wonder when the next Weird thing is going to happen.

It took years of procrastination, but I finally roughed out the entirety of Eggman's Announcement in Gallifreyan, on a single page. Now I just gotta make it a bit bigger and more readable, and it'll slap.
It took two hours, why did I do this in pen?

I kinda wanna write a BNHA fic where the main focus shifts to give some of the other Class 1A students get some time in the spotlight.
Give Hagakure OFA, make Yaoyorozu her straightwoman to play off of, throw Toyoyami in there because I think thats a fun dynamic, then Shouji and Dual Course Support-Hero Hatsume. By height alone you have Yaoyorozu, Shouji, and their 4 children (Dark Shadow counts) they have to wrangle.
Hatsume could totally be convinced to join the Hero Course with the promise of "Field Testing", Hagakure and Tokoyami have near opposite personalities, aside from Hagakure and Yamikage (Dark Shadow), which could be fun. Hagakure is the bubbly, confident opposite of Yaoyorozu, while not being the overwhelming extreme of Ashido.
I dunno, I think it'd be fun.

I write fanfiction and original stories as often as I can, I draw on the same sporadic whims, and work in retail enough to believe in the Primordial Impersonal Chaos that everything came from and one day shall return to. I want to get into game development, and also rom hacking. I post my writings on Digigal_transbian on AO3 as they get written!

A while back, I wrote a fic about what I think could have happened if Grand Zeno made himself a bit more involved with the Majin Buu situation, because seriously, half a universe's gods dying is something he totally should have noticed, or gotten on Beerus about, or Existed for. (The fact he was made 20 years after Z notwithstanding)

I feel like most aliens would have some sort of traditional religion, at least of some kind.
Various -theons, theogenies, old ways to explain the universe around us and them. Even if they've been an interstellar species for a long time, maybe they would still hold on to that piece of themselves. A bit of a moral guide, a way to explain the "soul", to explain the unknown or simplify into something more digestible to the common audience.
The suns, the moons, the stars and the skies, rising and falling seasons of harvest and protection, blessings for travellers and workers, I feel like that might not be super uncommon, even if not particularly common.
Even still, they don't have to be necessarily Literal, at the end of the day, they're all stories, literality is irrelevant when the moral is "don't be consumed in yourself", there doesn't have to be a guy with a glorious beard and rapey tendencies in charge of Lightning, if the guy with the beard and attitude issues is a metaphor for the fickleness of kings, the grandness of storms and how lightning is a sudden, dangerous, and I'm blanking on words but you get the idea.
But how would the species without gods react to the species with them?
