Looking Back | KDN Falling into Autumn
Prompt: Crown
Pairing: Park Yoosung + Ko Sungho
Genre: Fluff, Romance, Immortal!AU, King!AU
TWs: Very brief mention of death and blood
WC: 1k+
Tumblr media
The change of time came as steady as the change of the seasons, with new city or technological advance never a shock, merely something to incorporate into everyday life. The change from carrying swords on your person through the streets to weapons being banned in public, diseases that once wiped out entire cities almost eradicated, horse drawn carriages used for nothing more than parades as cars and buses dominated the paved roads.
Yoosung and Sungho met in the ending years of their country’s monarchy before the shift into a democracy, when the crown sat upon the head of Prince Ivan. To Sungho though he was never ‘Prince Ivan’, just little Yoosung whom he went on playdates with every weekend. It wasn’t until they were in their teen years that they realized just where they stood in society, as the son of the King and the King’s right hand man. Discovering that was a shock for Sungho, though it made sense why they protected Yoosung so intensely as a child without applying nearly any of the same rules to Sungho.
Much to his dismay, most of Sungho’s early years were spent learning how to delegate and how to fight, being told he would take his father’s position alongside Yoosung when the Prince became King. Hours and hours were spent in the library surrounded by books and paper, notes being scrawled onto torn sheets into the early hours of the morning. When not in the library, he was outside, being taught traditional and non-traditional combat skills. He came out bruised, sometimes sporting a busted lip, but it didn’t matter if he was hurt in the end.
All he cared about was being able to protect his Prince Ivan until the day he died.
Which, it turns out, would probably be never. It took fifty years and the two realizing they didn’t age to realize something wasn’t right. Yoosung was first to notice, bursting into Sungho’s sleeping room when the moon sat at its highest in the night sky, shaking him till he was awake. They were quick to dress in their respective robes, Sungho securing his sword scabbard to his hip and gently placing Yoosung’s crown in a velvet bag to tie on his horse’s saddle. They snuck out through the very same path they used as children, the soft crunch of snow making their breath hitch as they questioned whether or not they’d be caught.
Their visit confirmed their suspicions. It was almost prophetic, that the two of them were struck with immortality from the day they were conceived. Yoosung’s worry immediately fell to the people. If he was immortal, it’d be almost a dictatorship for him to continue running the country, wouldn’t it? No chance for anyone else, no heir, no successor. It was common knowledge that the country’s King did not fancy women and had no desire to have an heir, ending his family’s rule of nearly four hundred years.
“Let’s fake our deaths and run away.”
That phrase changed everything for the two of them. They lived in a time that DNA examination wasn’t around and it was hard to distinguish human blood from that of, say, cattle. They took their sleeping robes and the blood of a freshly slaughtered cow to make it more believable, soaking spots and spattering others. They abandoned their clothes on the King’s floor, snatched the crown, and ran.
The King’s kidnapping and subsequent murder in the eyes of the people is what led to the democratic shift, something Yoosung and Sungho had wanted to come about for years. They took to living in the highlands, the mountains, anywhere away from the people for nearly a century before mingling again. This process repeated over and over until they were accustomed to it, letting time take them on a journey. They would falsify documents to get jobs and support themselves, living off the land when they could and spending money when they couldn’t.
This brings us to (mostly) modern day time, with Sungho and Yoosung living in an upscale San Francisco apartment together. Sungho was employed as a pediatric nurse while Yoosung taught secondary and post-secondary school classes, spending more time apart than together until they fell side by side into bed, wrapped in each other’s embrace. But, when holidays of any sort came around they took time off, whether it be from an actual work shift or from weekend grading and emails. Halloween was especially fun for the two of them, dressing up in various cheap costumes or pulling out the clothing of past centuries they lived through, being praised for ‘authenticity.’
“Hey, babe, come check this out!” Sungho called from a corner rack, amusement clear in his voice, tinged with mischievousness. Yoosung, picking through the fake plastic swords and mentally rating how inaccurate they were. With a knowing sigh he stood from his spot on the ground, putting all the swords back into the barrel and making his way over to his lover. He was prepared to say something until he saw the crown sitting upon Sungho’s head, the mischievousness in his eyes fading into something more bashful. He let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding when Yoosung reached out and tucked some of his hair further back, readjusting the crown.
“I always thought you would’ve looked better in a crown than me.” He murmured, a small jab at his bitterness from being forced to rule even when he didn’t. He draped his arms over Sungho’s shoulders, pressing a kiss to his cheek while the other laid his hands on his waist.
“Doubtful, my love, you always looked stunning. Would’ve looked better if we’d been wearing them together.”
“Then why don’t we?” Yoosung replied in all seriousness. They still had their robes and the various crowns they’d collected over the years, locked away in the closet. “We haven’t worn them in ages, and no one else would know but us.”
Sungho mulled it over for a moment, swaying them side to side before smiling, his eyes crinkling. “So, should we go get those extensions? You have cut your hair after all.”
Yoosung responded with a smile of his own. “Absolutely. C’mon, the sun's going down. And~ you said you’d buy dinner!” He said, laughing and running off as Sungho’s eyes narrowed playfully.
“Yeah, love you too, pretty boy.”

Souls and Witches (Kingdom)
Pairing: Yunho + Seungbo, minor Sungho + Seungbo
Genre: One-Shot, Witch!AU
TWs: There are a couple mentions of death, but nothing graphic
WC: 1.9K+
A/N: This is my first time writing for Kingdom! After watching Black Crown they just seemed so fitting for this concept. Please go give them some love and stream Black Crown :]
Tumblr media
Living among other witches had become commonplace for Seungbo, their household constantly buzzing with magic from any source thinkable. As the oldest of them all he saw it his job to care for the younger witches, with special care to the newest of their clan. He’d found the boy on his own, hardly understanding the power he possessed, abandoned on the very edge of town with nothing but his backpack from school and a half-eaten slice of pizza. It was a sight that absolutely shattered Seungbo’s heart, and with no hesitation, he offered him a place to stay in his home.
He wasn’t as easily accepted by the other four clan members when they walked in the door, a cat-like hiss even escaping Sungho’s lips when he saw the newcomer. They all tiptoed around him for the first week, and then the light switch flipped.
Though, at times, Seungbo truly wishes he knew what he’d been getting himself into.
Seungjun loved to cause chaos. Every witch had their niche and his seemed to revolve entirely around chaos, leaving Dongsik to begrudgingly clean his messes (though he’d never be able to deny the affection he had for their newest.) There was only one place that anyone, especially Seungbo, would be upset if he caused a ruckus: the eldest’s study. They had a millennia’s worth of spellbooks, journals, rations, and more stored in there, meaning it was off limits unless it was necessary to retrieve something.
“Guk Seungjun, if I find that you’ve made a mess of my study again I swear-” He started as he marched towards said room, the sound of shattering glass and a poor attempt at a withheld swear having caught his attention.
“Don’t swear hyung, you know you’d have to follow through with it.” Sungho said in passing, pressing the lightest of kisses upon his cheek. With a deep sigh Seungbo reconsidered his words, about to begin speaking when their youngest rushed out of the room, all but barrelling into him like a child trying to hide. This piqued the eldest witch’s concern and interest instantly, as Seungjun wasn’t one to be easily frightened. He would fight a grizzly bear bare-handed if he could, making smart-ass comebacks to anything the older witches said, mixing the most volatile of items to find something that caused enough chaos to soothe his soul. He hadn’t run to any of his elders in fear since the first year they’d brought him in.
“Hey now, you know I was just playing about the study right? I can always clean it up.” He said, trying to gently pry Seungjun away to face him proper. He could feel his heart pounding, blood rushing through his veins, and within moments Yunho was rushing down the stairs with the same panicked look. The two were linked in ways no human could imagine, having sworn their souls to each other nearly a millennia ago. Communication through their thoughts, emotions, there was nothing to hide and nothing could be hidden unless they explicitly wanted it to be. It was then that figurative alarm bells went off through his body, someone, no, something, having breached the outer line of their property. It hit him with such force he couldn’t help but gasp, shivers being sent down his spine, clutching Seungjun tighter.
“Soul walker.” Seungbo breathed, understanding flooding through him. “Yunho, call for Dongsik to take him. I’ll handle this.”
“Are you sure? The last time you got into anything with one of them you nearly got us both killed! You do understand that our immortality is tied to our souls, right? Right?!” Yunho said, only mildly defensive as he waved his hand towards the cat slinking between his feet, the black ball of fluff disappearing up the stairs and into the shadows to bring Dongsik into the common area. He tried to maintain a hard, unwavering look towards Seungbo but it dropped when they both felt the walker’s energy grow stronger, meaning one thing and one thing only.
It was feeding.
Seungbo pushed the younger witch from his arms towards Yunho and burst out the door into the chilly air, barely managing to snatch his sword from where it was hung in the doorway. They had a fairly large piece of property but he could see the soul walker’s ghostly form the moment he stepped off the deck, it’s long hands holding a teenage boy, talon-like claws sunken into his skin to keep him still.
“Not on my property, asshole. Come pick on someone your own size!” Seungbo yelled, watching as the walker dropped the boy and turned to face him, a terrifying scream of delight leaving it. The souls of witches would always be preferable over that of a human, but a witch who was as old as Seungbo? It would be a dream come true for something like a soul walker. It charged at him, barely giving him the time to side step and swing, cutting straight through it like a hot knife through butter. He winced at the sound it made, spinning on his heel and taking the chance to swing again before it could turn.
“Fooood, you are fooood! Give me!” It drawled, pulling a smirk on Seungbo’s face.
“Never in a million years. Either get off my property or face reincarnation in the hands of Hades.” He walked backwards, keeping himself poised and ready until he was standing mere inches from the teenagers on the leaf covered lawn. The wind swelled with the force of a storm gale before settling again, the walker now surrounded on four fronts.
“You do understand you don’t have to be so protective of us, don’t you? Let us help sometimes.” Sungho piped up, spinning his sword leisurely as he advanced on the walker.
“Agreed. I don’t get enough action, always tending to your wounds and Seungjun’s spells gone wrong.” Jihun mused, the leaves spiraling around his legs as he walked, head tilted slightly to the side as he timed his steps with Sungho.
“I’d like to be part of the decision making process as to what happens to us.” Yunho said, though his words held no weight. Wherever either of them went, the other would be there, even if he was late. If either objected, they’d pull out of the fight in an instant.
Seungbo looked around, chuckling at how the soul walked spun, as if trying to decide who to go after first. “You know, I’ve been thinking about the last time we did this and truth be told it reminds me of Ghostbusters. Y’know, don’t cross the streams?” He said, raising the point of his sword to the sky, sighing at the energy he felt flow through him, the other three mimicking his movement. The sky above them darkened with clouds, the wind whipping through their clothes.
“Oh shut up, now is not the time!”
“You take the fun out of everything Sungho!”
“I do not!”
“YOUUUU! Youuuu leave yoursssself defenselessss! Easy to taaake!”
There was a beat of silence, a snort of laughter, and nods from each of them before they brought their respective swords down, directing the blast upon the soul walker. There was no worry about injury or blast zone, Yunho having told Dongsik what they planned and allowing him time to form a barrier of sorts. The moment there was nothing but dust between them they all collapsed, exhaustion flooding through them.
“I hate those things, all this because they can’t feed somewhere else! It’s our property, we have a sign that says “no trespassing”-” Sungho mused, forcing himself from the ground as he used his sword for support. “And before anyone comments I do know they can’t read.”
Seungbo tuned the others out and crawled his way over to the two boys, finding one of them soulless, meaning he’d die in a day’s time. He’d gotten to the other in time, though he could feel how shaken up he was. The whole experience had left the boy nearly as pale as his white hair, cold as ice, dried blood covering the skin around the puncture wounds from the walker’s claws and fangs. If they didn’t get himself inside and under their care he’d likely not wake up, comatose until his internal organs failed.
“Jihun.” His voice was quiet but firm, the banter behind him dying down as their head healer crossed the small distance between them and crouched down across from the elder witch. “Can you...save him? We can’t save the other boy.” He couldn’t help the waver in his voice, such a scene hitting too close to home for him. Jihun easily picked up on this and gave a nod, choosing his words.
“I’ll do everything I can to make sure he wakes up.” He gently picked the white haired boy up from the ground, calling for the others to follow him inside. Sungho went with him, sparing one last glance at Seungbo before shutting the door behind him.
There was silence as Yunho settled next to Seungbo, allowing him to sink into his emotions for the first time in a while. He interlocked their fingers and pulled his clan mate, his lover, into his embrace, pressing a kiss to the crown of his head. “He reminds you of Seunghyun, doesn’t he?” He finally asked. Seungbo hesitantly nodded, brushing the boy’s hair from his face.
“He’s so young, why do they take them so young? They’ve hardly lived…” His tongue felt like a lead weight in his mouth, silent tears rolling down his cheeks. “Donsik will take care of him, right? We can’t save him but we can at least make sure he’s put to rest properly. I don’t…” He bit off the end of his sentence.
“He won’t end up like Seunghyun.” Yunho confirmed, pulling him away from the boy. “Come, let’s go inside. We need rest if we’re taking care of the other boy.”
With one final glance Seungbo followed him inside.
The snowy haired boy didn’t wake for three days, and for another three days after that he refused to speak, only taking food from them. It wasn’t until Sungho, in all his charms, made a joke about him selling his soul at such a young age.
“I did sell my soul.”
His words rang through the room as he sat on one of the three couches in the common room, nursing a mug of herbal tea in his hands. They’d come to learn through writing his name was Yoosung, though he’d been nicknamed Ivan through his childhood.
“I sold my soul without believing it was real. Minju and I did it as a joke and that...that thing chased us all the way out here.”
The six witches took time to process what he said before letting out hums or sighs, knowing it wasn’t uncommon for the kids these days to do that.
“But, in order to go through with something of that nature, you have to have a reason. Why, even jokingly, were you selling your soul off?”
Yoosung hesitated with his answer, pale cheeks tinging pink from embarrassment. “We...we both had dumb things about our body we didn’t like. He wanted bigger muscles, and, I, I said I wanted a bigger butt. It was the first thing to come to mind!”
“You sold your soul for a bigger ass?!” Sungho exclaimed, followed by Seungjun and Dongik breaking into fits of laughter. The other three shared an exasperated look, as if to say ‘we saved him for this?!’
Yeah, they were in for quite a ride.

Yeosang had been taking a nap when his mother gently woke him, just barely able to smell her cinnamon vanilla perfume. He reached for her as best he could from under his mound of blankets, smiling as she decided to sit on the edge of the bed and pet his hair, humming a song for him to put him at ease.
“You’ve got a letter, from a Mr. Park Seonghwa in the states. Do you want it now, or once you’re feeling better from this cold?” She eventually asked, the letter in question sat upon his desk, sticking out from all the scattered books and papers he was using for schoolwork.
“Later, I need more sleep. My head hurts.” Yeosang replied. He felt excitement bubble up in his stomach, setting him alight from the inside out. This Seonghwa he was talking to gave him something to be excited about, gave him a bit of light in the stressful darkness of his life.
“I’ll leave you to rest then. Your father is making galbitang for dinner, I’ll bring you some. Sleep well, my little angel.” His mother smiled and pressed a kiss to his forehead, taking the time to tuck his blankets back around him and make sure he’d be alright.
Yeosang didn’t write his reply to Seonghwa until four days later. He had his lap desk and notebook so he could stay in bed, still recovering from the horrible cold he’d caught from staying outside with his sister for too long. He couldn’t help but laugh when he read how adamant Seonghwa was that he stay inside and keep himself warm. He found it quite ironic that he was already recovering from a cold, having done the complete opposite of what the older boy instructed of him.
Seonghwa,
Oh, the irony. You told me to stay inside, to keep myself warm, yet I’m writing to you while recovering from a cold (because I spent too much time outside with my sister.) I am graduating this year but please don’t worry about flying back, I don’t want to take away from your time for finals or your money >_< I really want to attend Seoul National University, and once I have a degree go on to law school! I want to be a prosecutor. I have a small group of friends here but my closest friends are Mingi, Yunho, and San. Mingi wants to be a nursery school teacher, Yunho wants to go into pediatrics, and San wants to be a dancer. The four of us met in second year and somehow ended up in the same class this year and honestly I’m really glad we did. We spend a lot of time bowling and karaoke as well but we don’t go out very late. Mingi doesn’t like the dark very much and if I’m honest I’m not a big fan of it either. It might seem boring but we also really like board games, especially Monopoly. Though...that always ends in chaos. A lot of chaos. I’ve heard about Koreatown and the Galleria! Yunho went and spent a semester abroad in L.A. during third year and he wouldn’t shut up about the market on the lower floor. He also wouldn’t stop talking about the music shops they have there, he came back with nearly ten albums. But don’t we have tons of shops here too? Maybe he just thought they would be cooler from abroad. I mean, I can agree with that. Oh! Once I’m better we’re taking a weekend trip up to Seoul so we can go to Lotte World. I’m excited to take the train and I know it might be a little weird but I really like trains and planes :D I’m starting to get really sleepy though so I’m gonna end the letter here, I hope you’re doing well! I look forward to your next letter.
Sincerely,
Yeosang :D
The letter was folded into four and slipped inside a blue envelope, Seonghwa’s address being written on it before it was set upon the bedside table to wait. He’d wait until after his nap to take it to the mailbox.

Seonghwa was mid-way through an English assignment when he heard the sound of his mailbox being opened and envelopes being dropped inside. Standing from his couch and stretching, he allowed time for the mailman to leave before he retrieved whatever happened to be in his box. He slid his feet into black fluffy cat slippers meant for the outside world and stepped out into the chilly Los Angeles air, taking in the sight of the pinks and oranges that painted the sky at sunset. His breath made little fog clouds from the temperature difference as he collected all his mail, a bright blue envelope catching his eye amongst the stack of white ones.
Making his way back inside, he switched out his slippers out in the alcove by the door, opting for the matching pink pair to the ones he’d worn outside. He sifted through junk mail and ads and even a couple of bills before settling himself on his couch to open the blue envelope, wondering what it could be until he read the address, deciding to open it right then and there. A smile broke out across his features as he read, murmuring a soft ‘cute’ under his breath. Once he’d finished reading he walked down the hall into his bedroom, taking a seat at his desk with the familiar pale purple envelopes and black ink pens.
Dearest Yeosang,
I truly thought I wouldn’t be getting a reply letter so this was quite a lovely surprise. Busan, huh? I’ve visited a lot because one of my childhood friends happened to move there from Incheon. Though, I’ve only ever been during summer as far as I can remember. I find it a little amusing that you're afraid of deep water yet you’ve decided to live in one of our coastal cities (I don’t mean this rudely, it’s honestly quite cute. Deep water is scary, I will admit that.) I assume you’ll be graduating at the end of this year, yes? If we’ve grown closer by then I may book a flight back to Korea for your ceremony. What flowers do you like best?
With the cold weather please make sure you’re inside as much as possible and you stay warm. Bundle up in blankets if you’re home, but if you go out make sure to not forget your scarf and gloves. I prefer hot coffees or hot cocoa, but teas are also great (make sure it’s hot though! As long as you keep your internal body temperature up, you’ll be okay!) I also like to eat hot stews and soups with meat. The places here have some good food but I’ll be honest, nothing comes close to my mother’s cooking.
Do you have any plans for after you graduate? Any universities or career plans in mind? I can help you with your college applications and such if you need it, I want to see you succeed. I think it’s lovely that you attend BIHS, I’ve heard it’s a really good school and it'll look good later in life as well. Do you have friends there? Do the teachers treat you well?
Speaking of friends, I have a couple of friends of my own coming over later today. Their names are Hongjoong and Wooyoung, I met them through an on-campus program for international students. Joong studies performing arts while Wooyoung, much to my surprise, has a major in psychology and keeps dance as his minor. We like to get together on the weekends for karaoke and late dinners down by the Galleria on Olympic Blvd. They refer to that area as Koreatown so it’s not hard to find Korean restaurants and to meet other people. If you ever come to Los Angeles, stop by that part of the city and see if anything catches your eye. Oh, as a side note, on the bottom floor of the Galleria there’s a market if you want to go food shopping.
I would like to continue writing but I’d rather not bore you, and I’ve also got an English paper I need to complete so I’ll cut this letter here. I’ll be awaiting your next letter.
Best wishes,
Seonghwa <3
Seonghwa folded his letter into the usual three parts, sliding it into an envelope and sealing it with a cat sticker. He wrote Yeosang’s address as neatly as he could, placing another sticker on the front next to his name. With a smile, he stared down at the thin paper material in his hands, wondering how such a small thing could bring such joy to his life. He rushed out of his room and back to the door, almost tripping as he once again swapped out his shoes to drop the letter into his mailbox to be picked up the next day.

Boot clad feet stomped through light snowfall out to the mailbox, prying open the frozen door to retrieve three days worth of mail. Gloved hands reached out and took the stacked papers and envelopes into the warm apartment, the smell of barbecued meat and noodles filling the warm and cozy space. Most of the envelopes were placed unceremoniously on the kitchen counter, but one was held on to, ready to be read.
A pen and paper were hastily retrieved from a shared desk drawer before being brought to the kitchen table, dropped upon the mahogany surface. A folding chair was dragged over to the table and set up.
Seonghwa,
It’s so nice to meet you! Well, as best we can. Do letters count as meeting someone? I think they do. I’ll introduce myself first and reply to what you’ve sent me, so I guess this will be my introductory letter as well? My name is Kang Yeosang, I’m 18, and I’m a high school senior. I decided to attend Busan International High School so my family moved to Busan after I finished lower secondary schooling. I have a part-time job at a local bookstore and I get free coffee or tea for working there. While it’s probably the least snowy part of the country it still gets so cold I can’t feel my face or my hands. I think it’s really cool you’re majoring in music! I play violin too, but I haven’t been playing as long. I focus more on guitar and piano. I’ve been playing guitar since I was six so I’d say that’s my special music skill? I like going on walks, action movies, dramas, warm tea, sweet foods, and I also like boba and traveling. I have a fear of deep water and heights though so sometimes it’s a bit hard to travel. Bugs don’t bother me too much but if I see a spider I’ll be packing my bags and moving to Siberia. I’m sorry this letter is so short but it’s only the first letter! I hope we can become friends as well, you seem really cool and I think your handwriting is super nice to look at.
Sincerely,
Yeosang :D
The letter was folded into fourths and placed in a square, blue envelope and hastily ran back out to the mailbox, gloveless hands placing it inside the cold metal with newfound excitement. The mail would run later that day, and from there, it would be a week of waiting for the next colored envelope with the pretty handwriting in black ink.

Sunlight streamed into the small room, dancing across the floors and furniture. The room smelled of peppermint and pine, strings of multicolored fairy lights hanging along the wall and wrapping around bedposts. The half-drawn curtains turned the light a soft shade of pink, illuminating the hardwood flooring and fluffy rug. Soft music played from a radio set upon the desk as pen touched paper, familiar brush strokes creating words and phrases.
Dear whoever receives this letter,
Hello! My name is Park Seonghwa. I am a college freshman living abroad from Korea, and I saw you’d decided to participate in a pen pal program. I also saw you happen to be living in Korea. Neither of us have anything but location listed so I’ll start my letter by introducing myself, so you know who you’re talking to.
Like I already said, my name is Seonghwa. I’m nineteen and I currently attend UCLA, it’s a university in California. My parents wanted me to attend Seoul National University, saying I had to be a SKY student but I didn’t want to. So I applied, and when they accepted me I packed up and moved. It’s surprisingly cold here this winter, I thought that since it was southern California it would be warm but it’s not. While it doesn’t snow you’d definitely still need a jacket.
I’m majoring in music. My whole life revolves around music, between dance and orchestra. I’ve played violin since I was eleven and I’ve been dancing since I was five. Though, I don’t enjoy bragging about it, unlike some of the other people in the orchestra with me. I like cats, soft fabrics, boba, milkshakes, racing (cars and stuff), traveling, and big planes. I hate bugs though, bugs make me feel like my skin is crawling and it’s horrible.
I don’t know what else to put since this is just an introductory letter, but I hope we can become friends and get to know each other well.
Best wishes,
Seonghwa <3
The paper was folded into neat thirds and slipped into a pale purple envelope, pen once again meeting paper as the address was neatly written in black ink. The chair made a low scraping sound as it was pushed back from the desk, sock clad feet slipping into fluffy outdoor shoes. The appropriate labels had been placed already, and within moments the letter was placed in the mailbox, ready to be sent off to it’s awaiting recipient. With one last glance, the door was shut, and it was all a waiting game from there.

Beautiful Feeling
pairing: park sungjin + kang younghyun
genre: fluff, romance
rating: pg because sungjin makes an ass joke
word count: 1815
A month had passed since Younghyun had last seen Sungjin. To say he missed him was a complete and utter understatement. They facetimed as much as they could but the time zones between Canada and South Korea didn’t fit well with their sleep schedules making it seemingly impossible to keep in touch while Younghyun was away.
Today, however, was the day he came home from Canada. He was asleep in the half comfortable chair on the plane when he was gently awoken by the flight attendant, a small smile on his face.
“You requested that we make sure you’re awake as close to landing as possible. We’ll be landing in twenty minutes.” He passed a water over to the blond before walking away to check on other passengers.
Younghyun rubbed the sleep from his eyes and smiled as he looked out the window, seeing the water under them, so close yet so far away. It was almost as if he could touch the rippling blue and white waves from where he was, thousands of miles in the air, fingertips gently touching the glass. He pulled himself away and began shoving all his small things back in his carryon bag and zipped it up, putting in under the seat in front of him as he eagerly waited to land.
Within a few minutes he could see the edge of the land in view, and a few minutes after that he watched and felt as the landing gear made contact with the asphalt of the runway. Surprisingly it took almost no time for them to be at their gate, disembarking from the plane. Younghyun slung his bag over his shoulder and made his way up to the front, bowing to the pilots and stepping into the small tunnel, his feet landing on tile soon after. He checked his ticket one last time to confirm which baggage claim he was supposed to get his other bag and his bass from, then checked an airport map for where exactly it would be. After all, he was quite known by his friends and bandmates for getting lost.
He smiled in relief when he finally found it after getting turned around multiple times even with the help of the airport maps scattered about.. His relief turned into excitement when he saw a familiar face standing there, his bag and his case already pulled off the conveyor belt and resting on the ground next to him.
“Park Sungjin!” He yelled as loud as he could, Sungjin jumping at the sudden call of his name before spinning on his heel to see Younghyun. A smile appeared on his features and he held his arms out, the blond crossing the distance and all but tackling him in a hug. The brunet stumbled back a bit, not hesitating to wrap his arms around him, letting him bury his face in his neck as he always did. He inhaled the younger boy’s familiar scent of vanilla, nearly crying at how nice it felt to be holding him again. A month had never felt so long.
“I missed you, so much, so so so much.” He breathed out, running his hand through the younger’s hair.
“Missed you more.” Younghyun murmured before pulling back just enough to crash their lips together, giggling a bit as he felt Sungjin pull him closer by his hips, hands on his lower back. He cupped his cheek with one hand, the other in his hair, losing himself in the feeling of his lover’s lips.
“You bought the same chapstick I use, didn’t you?” He asked with a small laugh when he pulled away, Sungjin’s ears heating up in embarrassment.
“Maybe I did, maybe I didn’t. Doesn’t matter. What matters is that we leave this busy place, I have a surprise for you tonight.” He pecked his lips again before picking up one of his bags, letting the blond tug his bass onto his back and grab the other bag. They interlocked their free hands, Younghyun laughing as he was practically dragged out of the airport terminal and to his boyfriend’s car in the parking garage. They set his luggage in the trunk before getting in, the older hooking his phone to the bluetooth and pressing shuffle on a playlist he made specifically for his lover.
The drive to the first part of the surprise was uneventful, save for Younghyun pestering Sungjin every two minutes about where they were going and a fight they passed. ‘Teenagers.’ The brunet had mused, soon pulling into the parking lot of one of their favorite restaurants.
“Alright, so it’s not really part of the surprise but I figured you’d be hungry after your flight and thought you might like some traditional food tonight, so I ordered as we were leaving the airport.” He smiled softly at the shocked look on his boyfriend’s face. “I’m going to run in and get the food and bring it back, I’ll be right back love.”
Younghyun waited impatiently in the car for his boyfriend to come back with the food, scrolling through his social media and answering direct messages and texts from before his flight departed the Vancouver airport. He noticed a string of messages from Jae questioning him how long the flight would be and when they could go get drinks and ramen together. The messages eventually just became random memes that he found and Younghyun saved all of them before moving on. Dowoon sent him pictures from his and Wonpil’s weekly volunteer time at the local shelters, most of them being with the kittens. One of them was sent followed by ‘So I guess we just adopted a cat?’ and Wonpil holding a beautiful black cat on his lap. His heart leapt, knowing that the younger boys had been talking about getting a couple of cats, and they had finally followed through with it.
Sungjin startled him by opening the car door with a loud ‘BOO!’ before setting the food in the blond’s lap and moving into the driver’s seat.
“You’re an ass for that!” Younghyun laughed and smacked his arm, the older boy shying away from the hit.
“Just because I have an ass doesn’t make me one.” He retaliated and stuck out his tongue, putting the car in drive and pulling out of the parking lot. “Alright, now we are onto the next stop! This one is the best part.”
Younghyun let out a soft hum as a form of response, staring out the window once again as the lights of the city flew by, the shapes of the people walking becoming a blur as they hit the freeway. He pulled out the to-go box with his food in it and his utensils he kept in the car, digging into the meat and vegetables. Sungjin was singing along softly to the songs that played, and while Younghyun would have loved to talk to him, he enjoyed the sound of him singing even more.
Soon after he finished their food, Sungjin pulled into the parking lot of a light festival that Younghyun had no idea about. The younger was almost immediately entranced by all the different colors, drawing a chuckle out of his boyfriend.
“Come on love, get your jacket on and we’ll go walk around.” He said as he got out, the blond following suit and tugging on his jacket. Younghyun intertwined their fingers, noting how much warmer the other’s hands were as he led the way to the small entrance. He couldn’t stop looking around, the mix of colors completely fascinating him as Sungjin paid for their entrance into the mini festival.
Their first stop was to get peppermint hot chocolate, bringing a bright smile to Younghyun’s face, quickly followed by scrunched eyebrows as he burned his tongue. After checking to make sure it wasn’t anything too serious, they both ran off towards the little booths and such to pick up small souvenirs. Younghyun got a glass butterfly while Sungjin focused on the woodworking, eventually ending up at a table of jewelry.
There was one piece that caught his eye, a small charm bracelet with a heart shaped clasp. He smiled as he began picking out the five ‘specialty’ charms. A turtle, for the first pet the two ever had together. A guitar, since they both played guitars and he couldn’t find a bass. A rose, since he asked him out with a bouquet of red and pink roses. A train, for all the late night subway rides they took before confessing. And finally, a heart shaped locket with his birthstone in it. He hoped that Younghyun would like the bracelet, looking over to see him playing with a small child, blowing bubbles for him as who presumed to be the child’s mother looked on with a soft gaze.
“Ah, here’s the money for that. Thank you, have a good night.” He said and tucked the little box into his inner coat pocket, walking over to his boyfriend and patting his shoulder. The blond boy looked up at him and let out a sad sigh, bidding a goodbye to the mother and child before walking away.
He shivered as the cold air hit his body when they stepped back outside, clutching his now lukewarm drink in his hands in a futile attempt to warm them. He glanced over at Sungjin, taking in just how beautiful he was. The way his eyes and nose would scrunch up when he would smile, his laugh being the most contagious thing. He was one of the mood controllers in a way. If he was happy, everyone was happy. If he was sad, everyone would be slightly down.
“I got you something.” He spoke suddenly, breaking Younghyun out of his thoughts.
“Oh? What is it?” Younghyun questioned the older boy, sitting down on the nearest bench and waiting for him to do the same. He watched eagerly as Sungjin pulled out the small box and opened it, revealing the bracelet.
Younghyun’s eyes lit up and his mouth opened in shock, looking over each charm. He knew why each one was chosen, between the two of them they were special moments they reminisced on often. It made his heart flutter, even make his eyes sting slightly as the sheer amount of love and happiness made him want to cry. With help from his boyfriend he secured it on his wrist before hugging him tightly, moving to sit on his lap.
“I love you, so so so much. Thank you baby.” Younghyun said happily, leaning in to kiss him before he even had time to reply, melting into the feeling of his lover’s lips, Sungjin’s hands came to rest on his hips, while the blond had his hands cupping his cheeks. He pulled away with a soft blush and a smile.
“I love you too. Forever and always.”
It was a beautiful feeling.

Better Better
pairing: day6 ensemble
genre: fluff
rating: e for everyone
word count: 543
sleepovers at jae's house were always, always chaotic. games of 'beer pong' (same concept but with soda instead of alcohol), twister (someone's butt was always in someone else's face), and monopoly (the board ended up on the floor every game) were a few favorites among them. karaoke and bad dancing became another custom for them, as younghyun was the only one who good dance properly.
jae had arranged a sleepover for the first weekend of christmas break, the city covered in a thick layer of snow. sungjin and wonpil decided to walk together since they lived just a couple house apart.
"it's too cold for this. why did i agree to walk? why couldn't we have just gotten our parents to drive us?" wonpil complained, his nose and cheeks a deep shade of pink, teeth chattering.
"awe, is piri cold?" sungjin teased before sliding his coat off and wrapping it around wonpil, the younger going to make a snarky remark before closing his mouth, basking in the newfound warmth around him. sungjin was quick to fix his scarf so that it covered his nose and cheeks.
the two continued their walk to jae's house in comfortable silence, wonpil knocking on the mahogany wood door when they got there. they barely had time to breathe before they were being tugged into the warm room, jae bringing them into the living room and sitting them down.
"i could've come and picked you guys up! why did you walk? aish, you're gonna get sick!" he brought two mugs of hot chocolate, wonpil recognizing them as the ones they had all made together the year before. he ran his thumb over the glitter reindeer on the side, remembering how he ended up with glitter in his hair for weeks after.
he took a long drink of his hot chocolate, letting the hot drink warm him up from the inside out. 'peppermint..jae has always had a thing for peppermint hot chocolate' wonpil thought to himself.
dowoon and younghyun sat together on the floor playing videogames, quietly sticking to themselves until jae rsj into the room holding a familiar mat and spinner. the other four made eye contact with each other, smirks on their lips.
"set it up jae, lets get this going." sungjin said. "and its my turn for the spinner." he held his hand out, taking the cardboard square from the older boy.
the next hour was a blur of screams and laughs, younghyun somehow ending up with dowoon sitting on him and wonpil clutching his thigh for dear life.
"wonpil. left foot, green."
as wonpil moved his leg, his arms gave out, sending him forward into younghyun. this threw the older off balance and as he fell, dowoon hit the floor. sungjin was the only one left standing, quiet literally as he was just doing a simplified version of the splits.
"and sungjin wins!" he called out, bouncing up and down happily. the three 'losers' laid in a heap on the ground, grumbling about their loss.
"dowoon your knee is in my ribs."
"hyun get your elbow off my stomach."
"dowoon no-"
"wonpil get up!"
they bickered like a married trio as they untangled themselves and sat up.
"so, how does a movie sound?"

Warning
pairing: park jaehyung + kang younghyun
genre: angst?
rating: pg13
general tags: angel!jaehyung, demon!younghyun, they're lovers awe, i suck at tags
warnings: attempted murder(?), gunshots, gun wounds, mention of the words abuse and manipulation, mention of sa(?)
word count: 861
Younghyun always had a soft spot for humans, especially children. The way they found love and happiness in the worst of times, how they treasured even the smallest pieces of life. He admired their bravery, their compassion, their ambition.
At least most of them.
There were, of course, the worst of every kind. For angels they became fallen angels. Demons who became too evil had their wings clipped. Fairies were turned into permanent plants. Humans, well, humans were a wild card. Some were killed, some were let go. There was a minute few who went to prison to serve time for their crimes, the horrible things they did making Younghyun's blood boil. Forcing themselves on innocent men, woman and children. Abuse and manipulation of those who couldn't even defend themselves, and those who could. The murder of people who did nothing wrong and were just in the wrong place at the wrong time, trapped in the crosshairs.
Yet still he never gave up hope in humanity. He always believed that light would shine through. Yes, he may have been a demon himself, but he was raised with morals and taught the proper way of living. 'Race does not matter, as long as they are a decent being.'
His hope in humanity began to fail when he fell in love.
He fell in love with the most beautiful angel by the name of Jaehyung. His smile made his heart leap, his eyes holding the whole universe. When they held hands Younghyun felt like he was whole for once, not able to stop smiling. They became one with each other, almost never apart. Seperate homes led to seperate rooms, to seperate beds, to sharing the same room and bed in the same home.
Younghyun even mentioned marriage, and Jaehyung wanted to adopt kids. He wanted three, and Younghyun agreed; a human, an angel, and a demon. They spoke about raising them well, raising them to be the best they could be. They wanted them to grow up knowing that not everyone was perfect, but not everyone was ruined either.
It was three weeks before Younghyun and Jaehyung planned to get married. Younghyun's arm wrapped around Jae's waist, the older boy rambling about anything and everything as Hyun listened with a fond smile. They hid their true forms from humans, not wanting to startle anyone, especially Hyun. Their eyes were the only thing giving them away, Jae's almost glowing blue as his fiance's shone with a beautiful silver.
"Wait, Hyun stop." Jaehyung suddenly whispered, tugging Younghyun closer and moving towards the door of the nearest store. They paused for a moment, the demon's ears straining as he tried to make out the sound he was hearing. He jumped when he heard the gunshot, looking over to see if Jae had heard it too.
His heart felt like it shattered.
Jaehyung had his hand pressed against his side, his white shirt slowly being stained silver. He wouldn't die, human bullets couldn't kill angels or demons, but it would severly wound him. Younghyun caught him as he fell, gasping in pain.
"Hyun..Younghyun..l-leave, they won't shoot twice if they think I'm dead, but they'll, they'll try and, and shoot you." He stumbled over his words.
"I'm not gonna leave you. They'll regret what they've done." Younghyun slid his sweater off and pressed it against the bullet wound. "Hold this here, apply as much pressure as you can." He said before kissing Jaehyung's forehead, running off towards where he heard the sound. He stopped suddenly, and just after the ground next to him erupted slightly from the impact of another bullet.
All Younghyun could see was red. He could feel himself changing, his true form becoming noticeable. Nails lengthening, teeth sharpening, the red dye in his hair being bleached into his true white hair color. Moments later pain ripped through his shoulder and he brought his hand up to touch the spot, his hand coming away covered in crimson.
"You dare hurt the one I love? Attempt to kill him? To kill me? What have we ever done to you?" Younghyun screamed, the ground cracking beneath his feet as his hands shook with anger.
He let out another scream, hands and knees making contact with the ground. He felt like his back was being torn apart and in a sense, it was. He'd never had the energy nor the rage to show his wings, but right then and there, he had never felt so much rage coursing through his veins. His shirt was shredded as his wings ripped through the thin fabric.
An angel's wings were large enough to wrap around their body to safely protect them. A demon's were slightly larger, enough to protect themselves and another at the same time. But Younghyun? His seemed to be three times as large as a typical demon, the leathery like skin an ombre of deep red and black. He stood up, spreading his wings and taking flight for the first time, his deep red eyes boaring into the man who hurt him and his lover.
"I swear I'll make you pay."
