I wake up to warm breath softly puffing over my face and my nose wrinkles even as I smile. His morning breath is awful, but that doesn’t really matter.

What matters is that Shouta has his forehead pressed to mine, a hand loosely fisted in my shirt, still asleep. He’s beautiful like this, so much so that I can hardly stand it. Even with the bandage over his missing eye, face still slightly swollen.

It would be easy to lean in, brush my lips against his. He probably wouldn’t wake up. But I’d know, and the guilt would get to me more than it already has been. He trusts me, seeks me out for comfort, and here I am looking and thinking of him in ways a best friend really shouldn’t.

Hell, I’m the only one he’s even letting help. Not that he asked, but he didn’t fight me either. He’s already pretty good on the crutches, so he doesn’t need a lot of help, but after losing an eye, a leg, and yet another friend I wasn’t going to let him off without leaning on me at least a little bit.

I’m sure part of it is for me, too. I need something to keep my mind off everything. I need to feel useful. But grief and loss have always been so much harder on Shou, so I know how much effort it’s taking just to wake up and keep going.

I settle for reaching out and running my fingers through his hair, smoothing out the tangles gently, not bothered by the slight greasiness of the strands. Things have been hard lately. They both lost someone. And he’s still getting used to living with one less limb and no depth perception so if all that’s suffering is personal hygiene, I’m not going to complain.

He shifts and sighs, but doesn’t actually wake up. His forehead shifts down and he buries his face against my chest. I know he’s probably just blocking out the early morning sunlight, but that doesn’t stop the way my heart leaps in my chest or how my hand reflexively cradles his head.

After defeating Allforone and fighting through multiple surgeries, Toshinori has given up. Well, not entirely, but he's pretty close. He is tired and old and just wants to drift for a while. That is , until one day, when he wakes up to find himself covered in scars that he does not recognize. And then one of them opens, and starts...talking??? And oh god there's eyes too-

Aizawa usually prefers to manifest himself as an eye (or several, depending on the situation) but can appear as a mouth when he needs to

Hizashi prefers mouths! And they will gladly speak up for their energy saver

They can eat! Hizashi prefers crunchy stuff while Aizawa likes gum and gummy consistency stuff

There is a limit to the amount of orfices they can summon at the same time

In the beginning, Toshi was very uncomfy with the idea of sharing his body with anyone, let alone TWO people

Now though, he doesn't so much as blink at the sprouting of teeth and a mustache in his elbow

These two are constantly hounding him on the importance of self care and will bite if necessary
