sukka isn't a great relationship simply because it's bi4bi, it's a great relationship in part because it is defined by the fact that it's bi4bi. the whole point of their relationship is the way that they subvert gender roles, most obviously upon first meeting, when suki beats sokka in a fight without breaking a sweat and proceeds to teach him feminism 101, but also in how sokka says “you came along to protect me?”, shocked by the fact that she is fulfilling what he perceives to be the masculine role in the relationship, a role that he holds himself to an impossible standard in terms of fulfilling. only when it becomes clear to him that he will not need to constantly need to protect suki does he let himself be with her. and at the culmination of his arc, when he's hanging from the airship, forced to be vulnerable and rely on other people, who comes to save him, but suki.
