I’ll never understand people who hate sad things. The whole reason I read and watch shit is so that my soul can be chewed up and spat out in a slightly different way than the last time.

Shoutout to Arcane for saying, “Here, watch a group of young children fight for their lives on the street, commit crimes for the sake of survival, and end up receiving unimaginable consequences. At the same time, you can watch a grown-ass man, who lives a life of luxury, commit crimes so that his life and his city can be more luxurious but receive no consequences. Watch innocents die while the political leaders, who should be protecting them, spend years focusing on ambition instead.”

I’m not saying Tangled is objectively better than every offensive action movie a man has told me to watch while assuring me it might be too complicated for me to understand, but that’s exactly what I’m saying.

The hard truth about autism acceptance that a lot of people don't want to hear is that autism acceptance also inherently requires acceptance of people who are just weird.
And yes, I mean Those TM people. Middle schoolers who growl and bark and naruto run in the halls. Thirtysomethings who live with their parents. Furries. Fourteen-year-olds who identify as stargender and use neopronouns. Picky eaters. Adults in fandoms. People who talk weird. People who dress weird.
Because autistic people shouldn't have to disclose a medical diagnosis to you to avoid being mocked and ostracized for stuff that, at absolute worst, is annoying. Ruthlessly deriding people for this stuff then tacking on a "oh, but it's okay if they're autistic" does absolutely nothing to help autistic people! Especially when undiagnosed autistic people exist.
Like it or not, if you want to be an ally to autistic people, you're going to have to take the L and leave eccentric, weird people alone. Even if you don't know them to be autistic. You shouldn't be looking for Acceptable Reasons to be mean to people in the first place. Being respectful should be the default.

I can’t imagine Vi’s hair sticking out like that without the help of hair gel, spray, or some shit. So what if, when she washed up before the council meeting, she was just in Caitlyn’s bathroom for twenty minutes, doing her hair, and Caitlyn kept yelling for her to hurry the fuck up?

Do I need to elaborate, or have I made my point clear?

Y’all could have fucking told me Arcane was gonna screw me up, but no. You lured me in with your gay shit, and I got traumatized sisters.

No, because if there isn’t a scene in season two where Vi and Caitlyn are lightly arguing and Vi gets on her tippy toes so that she can be nose to nose with Caitlyn, what’s the fucking point?

THIS^
I’m having a lot of feelings about with the way Arcane allowed Vi, as tough as she is, to be soft.
I feel like in nearly every action-based show with “strong” main characters, they have a tendency to make them closed-off emotionally, leaning into the whole “stoic loner” vibe, etc. etc.  But Vi is such a meaningful portrayal to me because yes, she has been through hell, she was traumatized by the losses in her childhood, then spent her teen/adult years in prison getting beaten by guards while agonizing in guilt over losing her sister.  She’s a tough-as-nails fighter and a “beat-’em-up” action hero and exactly the sort of character you’d normally expect to see burying their emotions so they don’t seem “weak.”   But instead, Vi comes along and just… loves so fucking deeply.
We saw how she was willing to sacrifice everything for her family as a teen, of course, but even as an adult who has been fucked over by the world, she’s managed to keep her “good heart.”  Vi believes her sister still has good in her and wants more than anything to reconnect with her again, she hugs Ekko and pulls him out of his “i can’t trust you” attitude, and Caitlyn— god, Caitlyn.  aside from being (understandably) a bit standoffish at first, she is so willing to give and accept affection from Caitlyn.  Vi hugs her, leans into her touch, holds her hand against her face, trusts her.
Vi, despite a gruff exterior, allows herself to be vulnerable around those she loves, time and time again, because at the very core of her character, that’s who she is.  Every major decision she makes, in one way or another, is motivated by her love for someone else.   And if you ask me, that vulnerability makes her character all the stronger.

I am once again screaming over the way they portrayed Jinx’s mental illness in Arcane.
The blackouts?? Jinx referring to her current self and past self in third person, as if neither of them are really her??? The fact that her biggest trigger is being/feeling alone???? I mean, every scene or, at least, almost every scene where she’s by herself, she has an episode. It’s consistent; shit doesn’t just happen at random or because it moves the plot along, and the way her episodes happen is also consistent. She has habits. Mylo’s always the devil on her shoulder; she sees images in her art style; she hears voices that change from whispers to noises so loud she can’t hear herself think, and it all scares her so much that if she has a gun in her hand, she always shoots.
Idk, I just think it’s nice to have some accurate representation of what this shit looks like.
