Arcade’s Creed of the Gunslinger

Yo~~While I love Matt Mercer’s take on the gunslinger, I feel he was rushed in porting over something from pathfinder and was more ‘make it work’ and as someone who enjoys the gunslinger pathfinder class I thought I’d fiddle around and make a Gunslinger stand alone class!!

Homebrew Sorcerer Bloodline- Oni

Your blood is mixed with that of the Oni and through this you have begun to tap into their fierce manipulative power.

Bonus Proficiencies

Beginning at 1st level you gain proficiency with Wisdom Saving throws as your Oni blood naturally fights off mind controlling magic. You also become proficient with the Katana

Oni Manipulation

Starting at 1st level you add the Friends spell to your Known Cantrips, this is a bonus spell known and does not count towards your total known cantrips. When the spell runs out the target must make a Wisdom Saving Throw against your Spell Save DC to notice that they have been influenced by you instead of knowing it instantly.

Malleable Form

You begin to tap into the shape changing powers of the Oni. Beginning at 6th level you gain the ability to cast both Alter Self and Gaseous Form as special abilities. They can both be used two times before needing a long rest to recover.

Gruesome Regeneration

Beginning at 14th level your power of the Oni begins to manifest itself in your body’s ability to heal itself. You gain Regeneration 5, healing this damage at the start of each of your turns. This ability stops if you take fire or acid damage and does not return until you complete a long rest or receive magical healing. If you are dropped to 0 or fewer hit points you can make a Constitution saving throw where the DC is 5+ half the damaged received. If you pass you stay at 1 hit point and remain standing, if you fail you fall unconscious.

True form of the Oni

Beginning at 17th level you fully embrace your oni heritage to unlock its maximum potential. You gain the ability to change your shape between your natural form and that of any one Large humanoid creature of the giant subtype. You must choose which creature you wish to be able to change into when you reach 17th level; once you make this decision, you cannot change it. You can switch between your forms as a bonus action, and can assume your giant form for as long as you want. While in this form you have advantage to saving throws versus magical effects, resistance to non-magical slashing, piercing and bludgeoning damage, and any enchantment spell you cast while in this form treats your Spell Save DC as being 2 higher.

Imagine a Good Warlock bound to Peter Pan...

so in my setting peter pan exists, and so does neverland. He’s basically an archfey who used a powerful artifact to -create- neverland, and the whole story was basically some human adults found a natural portal into this realm (the pirates) where things didn’t age properly. PAN deciding it would be a fun game travels to the material plane to ‘find lost boys’ to aid him against the pirates. BUT of course, the boys will -eventually- become aduls and ‘betray’ pan. It’s really a bit of a horror story of a malevolent fey demi-god who doesn’t really understand what he’s doing on like a moral scale.

and the idea hit me today of a Warlock who makes a pact with 'The Pan’ (or the boy in green) as he’s known in the setting. and like. ITS very similar to the fey pact from 5e. (pact of the chain) but instead of a regular familiar it’s your shadow and you learn a ritual to separate it from your body and use it as a familiar. maybe changing some abilities around to make your shadow more effective. like the ability to swap places with it or something similar.

And I love the idea that in exchange for this power the warlock has to 'recruit’ lost boys for Pan who’s too busy to find all the 'lost boys’ for himself. and like I love the idea of this just TEARING the soul apart of a typically good warlock who keeps being forced to -basically- create child soldiers for a monstrous god thing in order to obtain power for their own devices.

A character torn from a desire to do good, convincing themselves that they’re sending these street orphans to a better place were they’ll have food and a home, a family in the other lost boys. While the constant nagging is there in the back of their mind that these boys may die fighting against the Pirates or, if they survive long enough face the wrath of their master when the magic of neverland ceases to prevent their aging. 

I think it could lead to a -really- good character arch. a very somber character who has some ultimate goal and is using this mixture of warlock/fey magic and ‘shadowmancy’ to complete their goals but it always pulling at the back of their mind that the things they are doing for this power are wrong. 

Idk I just thought it would be a great idea and I wanted to ramble somewhere so why not my rpg themed blog haha.

As a general update

We have survived the first seven months in Japan so far. There has been little time for TTRPG’s but we’re still trying to game as often as we can! Exploring a new campaign set on Tariur (the primary pathfinder/dnd setting of this account) that we are currently calling ‘What Lies Beneath’. 

Ontop of which we are currently working on more homebrew content to be shared and accessible for free on DND beyond, including an entire suite of animal races for Redwall-esque campaigns! Complete with a small setting document for an original setting called The Land of R.o.s. (Rock o’the Sea)

i think my favorite drunk dnd story was when one of the players brought a keg of peach wine and like, five of the players got PRETTY drunk and the half orc paladin fell into a pitfall trap that had a pool of oil at the bottle and he was so out of it that after everyone else got him and his gear out of the trap he was sure that they had just done a fight and kept asking ‘did we win the fight?’ and ‘are we winning?’ 

So drunk DND is a trip. So the party was about to go attack a dragon nest, which turns into stealing eggs. Our cleric with little to no morals rolled atrocisly bad on perception and the following happened.

Dm: So you reach to grab an egg, and it turns out to be a dragons nut sac.

A solid minute of laughter followed by a deep silence.

Cleric: I firmly grasp my mace, and hit it as hard as I can.

The entire party immidietly dies.
