The Transport Trust came to visit us this weekend, bringing with them a pair of fabulous Lancias and a duo of Fraser Nash Le Mans replicas, one of which was originally built by Crosthwaite & Gardiner in the late seventies. It was great to see this car returning home and in the process £230 was raised for the C&G chosen charity, Hospice in the Weald.

Today the halls of the Crosthwaite & Gardiner factory are ringing with the sound of one of our manufactured and built Coventry Climax FPF 2.5-litre engines. This one has just been completed and is running period-correct Weber 58DCO3 carburettors.

Seen here is a photograph we captured on a recent visit to our selected magnesium foundry. This is where our wheels and many other magnesium components are cast, after which they are transported to our factory for machining. This photograph and others of our production process can be found in our exciting new wheel catalogue, which can be seen at http://crosthwaiteandgardiner.com/images/stories/pdfs/wheels_catalogue.pdf

Crosthwaite & Gardiner was recently commissioned by a regular customer with a very original Type 35 Bugatti to source an original Zenith 48K carburettor. With extensive influence and connections within the historic world of Bugatti, we were... able to find one which we then restored to fully working condition, carefully re-using as many of the parts as possible to conserve the originality of the unit. A few new parts had to be used where originals were not possible to restore or not available, but we ensured that the new parts blended perfectly with the look and feel of the finished carburettor.

Yet another Jaguar D Type engine can be found on our dyno today. This one came in for one of our Wide Angle cylinder heads but once opened we found that there were several other areas needing improvement inside the engine. It is now back together and will soon be seeing far greater performance than previously.

Crosthwaite & Gardiner is proud to announce its official victories from The Goodwood Revival last weekend. The Richmond Trophy was won by Roger Wills in the C&G-manufactured Coventry Climax-engined and C&G-manufactured Lotus Queerbox-equp...ped Lotus 16. In the Freddie March Memorial Trophy, victory and the fastest lap were taken by Darren McWhirter in the Lagonda V12 Le Mans - this car uses one of only three AM Lagonda engines of this type, which was carefully rebuilt by Crosthwaite & Gardiner. Finally, the C&G-run Scarabs won Best Presented Team, and the Scarab of Patrick Orosco also achieved fastest lap in the Richmond Trophy. The Goodwood Revival is over for another year, and Crosthwaite & Gardiner has come away with great results from the three entered cars. First was the Type 51 Bugatti which was placed in the Goodwood Trophy. Here it had a challenging time a...gainst far newer and more powerful machinery, however the result was promising for the car, driver and owner as laptimes would have placed it second in March's all-Bugatti race. The weekend also proved that a few minor adjustments made since last month's testing have worked, with the car returning faultless reliability. As part of its paddock position, driver Simon Diffey had Merry Printers produce a poster of the very car in period at the Brooklands 500, 1932; a photo that was recreated at the weekend to be displayed alongside in future. The other two vehicles that C&G were running for the weekend was a pair of Formula One Scarabs, piloted by father and son Don and Patrick Orosco. After practice/qualifying the pair were placed in nine and 10th respectively for the Richmond Trophy. A promising race start for both resulted in Patrick gaining five places and eventually finishing in fourth despite fuel starvation problems, while Don gained an incredible fourteen places to finish just behind in fifth, making them the first Scarabs home. Patrick also achieved the fastest lap, achieving a remarkable average speed of over 100mph. The Richmond Trophy was coincidentally won by the Lotus 16 of Roger Wills, which uses a newly C&G-manufactured Coventry Climax 2.2-litre engine and Lotus Queerbox

Excitement is building at Crosthwaite & Gardiner as our trio of C&G-run cars are having final checks before being loaded up, destined for The Goodwood Revival. This includes not only the Type 51 Bugatti that we recently restored, but a pair of Grand Prix Scarab machines too, all of which will be competing on track this weekend.
