I think a fanfiction recommendation app needs to exist. Something similar to Likewise, but specifically for Ao3 works. Because right now I am trying to find a Mauraders watch it fic. Not a specific one, but I never read Harry Potter fic so I don't know what to look for right now. Who agrees with me???

More fic recommendations!!!! Merlin edition. Specifically Merthur. Let's get into it. (BTW, these are all from ao3 and completed)

1. Next to You (It's the Rule) by LunaMyLove 62k words. Rated Teen.

This fic is wonderful. Basically, the whole fic is about Merlin being treated like the queen by everyone, without him realizing that he has basically become the queen. It is mostly fluffy, low angst. Really cute.

2. Complementarity, Entanglement and the Uncertainty of Destiny —or— A Feminist Mage in King Arthur's Court by Jenrose and Procoffeinated

117k words. Rated Mature.

This fic is really good. If you're gonna read this fic, you have to be in the mood to think because some of the jumps between timeliness can be a bit confusing. I highly recommend this fic. It is very much a post-season 5 fix it. Everything in the show is canon, but there is time travel, and we get a theoretical season 6 universe. HEA. Plus super powerful, BAMF Merlin.

3. As Good as You Can Be by kitfornow

105k words. Not rated.

This fic is great and really well written. It is fully from Arthur's POV and it is basically about Arthur realizing that what his father has been making him do in the name of magic being evil is wrong. Plus Merlin magic reveal. Plus Arthur loving Merlin's gold eyes trope.

Keep in mind Arthur is Asexual in this fic, so there isn't any smut or sexual content. (Rec 3.5. This fic does have a counterpart from Merlin's perspective. It can be read without reading the original fic. It is currently at about 96k and being updated regularly. But it is not completed. It is called But What Does Good Really Mean? )

Zach and Alex

Okay, so. I did not personally love this show. It was okay. I did, however, fall in love with this ship. In my humble opinion, there are not nearly enough fanfics for them, but here are a few

1. Deserved by TheLovliestCrime on Ao3. Okay. This fic is my favorite. It is so good. This fic starts with Charlie and Alex together, but Alex realizes he is in love with Zack. But there is NO Charlie bashing. Zach is kinda dumb in this for a while, but it gets better. Rated Explicit and has over 80,000 words.

2. Damaged by thatcrazymj on ao3

This fic is about 23,000 words. It is rated T. This fic starts with Alex and Jess together, but it is going badly. Basically, Zach comforts him in the aftermath, and they discover something more. Highly recommend. Kinda angsty. Be warned.

3. We Don't Need to Whisper by just_chiara on Ao3.

This is technically the fourth fic in a series, but it is the main one that the series resolves around. They are already together when the fix starts, and they are just figuring out their relationship. Rated Teen. About 85,000 words.

4. Baby Steps by Alex_Standalone on A03

So this one is kinda angsty, too. Zach is super depressed in this one. Eventually, he and Alex get together, and Alex helps him because he knows what he is going through. Great writing. Rated Mature, about 31,000 words.

5. Mouth to mouth, heart to heart by ZachandAlextime on A03

This takes place during the camping trip after Alex realizes what Winston's motives were. Zach has a bi crisis, as per usual. Explicit, about 42,000 words.

This next recommendation does not include Zach and Alex. It is a series about Justin and Clay being brothers where the dreaded 4th season does not exist. Read it. Please. It is so good.

6. A Maze of Moments by RealDaveofDaves on A03

This is an AMAZING fic series. It starts right when Justin and Clay have to start getting used to being brothers. The series as a whole has about 280,000 words. They are all rated G or T even though it is fairly mature content based around the content of the show. I really loved this series, and you won't be disappointed with the ending.

*OBX3 SPOILERS*

Seeing Kiara being so vocal about her love for JJ was so beautiful to see. Kiara has always been the type of person that isn’t afraid to show how much she cares. Despite her facade, she wears her heart in her sleeve. However, this is the first time we see her actually going for it in a way she never did with Pope (or John B but I don’t really count him). In a way that allows for vulnerability. She allows herself to feel all of those emotions and vocalizes them to a JJ that needs to hear those words. Seeing JJ resist that love because he still thinks he is worthless and that he can’t really give her anything else was so heartbreaking. It felt very warm to see JJ finally accept that love and let it just happen.

What is it about PJo that makes it your all time favorite OTP? What makes it top off all of the ships you've ever had? Especially considering it's from a show that first aired almost 25 years ago

Enemies to friends to best friends to lovers. They challenged each other, they balanced each other, they had explosive chemistry. They grew from kids to adults together. No matter what happened with them no matter what they went through they were always there for each other, they never lost sight of the other. No one ever cheated, no one was toxic or abusive but it was still a wild ride. It had everything you could want from a couple. Banter, wit, drama, romance, passion, friendship, a love triangle, pining, chemistry, heartbreak and happiness. And, the underdog won. Plus he bought her a wall. They’re it. They’re everything.

When it aired has no bearing on any of it.

Okay now that you’re mentioning Jacey and you compare them and Jiara?

I think the general energy between Jacey is a LOT like Jiara. I’d say they’re the most similar of all my ships to Jiara in vibe.

We’ve got the solid foundation since (I’m assuming since) childhood or at least middle school for both. Jacey obviously started off a little more hostile to one another and were frenemies to best friends to lovers rather than best friends to lovers. But the banter and the way they talk to each other is quite similar, especially best friend jacey and canon jacey. Like, I expect the way Jiara behaves as a couple to be almost Jacey exactly (the pda, not disgustingly mushy but just cute, there for each other). Check out this scene of Jacey babysitting Joey’s nephew and tell me it doesn’t scream Jiara!

I think Pacey is a lot more romantic than JJ and is a lot more likely to do grand gestures. Joey and Kie are both very much “we take no bullshit” and have a lot of grounded common sense, but Joey is absolutely more uptight.

The way they view each other is very very similar. Like, the high regard Pacey holds Joey in (while still seeing the real her) is so like JJ. He would do anything for her, even though he fully thinks she’ll never like him back. He thinks he’s not good enough for her. And Joey depends on Pacey, sees him as this reliable rock she can always count on but very pointedly does not unpack it, and I think we’ll see Kie come to see JJ the same way. We already saw he was the only one who fully stuck with her in the last couple of eps. And both absolutely have the whole “holy shit if we kiss the foundation of our lives will literally shift and that terrifies me”. The whole “it made me feel alive thing”... I can see a similar thing with Jiara. Big time.

I think the issues in their relationship would also be the similar: JJ/Pacey’s low self worth making them ruin things. I hope (and fully see) their first kiss is similar too!

I am back with fanfic recs. Today we are doing Logan and Veronica. Enjoy. Links included.

1. First up, Lemonade by Trogdor19 on Ao3. One of my personal favorites. It is a 121092 word fic, rated Explicit. It is one long consecutive time line, but it does have a few chapter during one time period, then the next section of chapters will jump ahead. I love this fic so much because of the way that it explores there feelings while also being satisfying. It is smutty, fluffy, and angsty. The perfect combo. Absolutely recommend. Please read. (Ps. All if Trogdor's stuff is AMAZING)

2. Drunk Logan by obsessedlikeneverb4 on fanfiction.net. It is a 183k+ word fic, rated M. Amazing. Everything from before the beginning if the story is assumes to be canon compliant, but the story itself is not. It begins toward the start of season 1 and has this crazy plot. I love it so much. It is an enemies to friends to lovers slow burn that satisfies every trope in the book. Sharing a bed, enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, hurt/comfort, you name it. 100/10 for sure.

3. Dissolutioned by Irma66 on Air. It is a 160525 word fic, post food court scene rated T+. It is only canon compliant up until that scene, from there it goes in a completely different direction. It is a What if Veronica went back to Logan after that scene? It covers their summer together, post season 3.

4. You again by Oliviet on Ao3. It is a 49387 word fic, rated M. It takes place between Season 3 and the movie. It is Veronica's last year of law school and she runs into Logan by chance during fleet week. LoVe rediscovers their unavoidable feelings and they try and figure out how to get past their issue. It is also very spicy. I definitely recommend.

5. Sometimes by SilverLining2k6 on Ao3. 352971 words. Rated T+. It starts at the begining of season one. Everything that happened before is still true, but everything after is AU. It involves more Duncan than I am usually up for, but it is 100% LoVe. No worries. It is incomplete, which I don't love, but it is still being updated. It is enemies to friends to lovers, which I appreciate. You should read it.

6. Ocean's edge by admonamlulu on Fanfiction.net. It is 153k words. Rated M. It takes place early season 1 and a series of events leads Veronica, Logan, and both of their families to be on the same cruise ship. It is enemies to lovers. I highly recommend. Lots of hurt/comfort, banter.

7. Of Bloodshed, Babies, and Epic Love by ProstheticLoVe on Ao3. Rated M, 168945 words. Pre-series to early season 1. Logan and Veronica sleep together after Lilly's funeral and she gets pregnant, but the trope is actually done well. I am usually not a fan of these kind of fics, but this one is really good.

8. Second Chances series Heavenli24 on Ao3. There are 8 fics in this series. Most of them are rated M, but a couple are G or T. If you are interested, this is EXTREMELY long, which is why I love them. Probably about 400000 words in total? The first one starts during the movie. It follows Veronica and Logan's life and relationship over the course of years. It is VERY well written. One of my favorites. Took me ages to get through. 100\10 recommend.

9. The Most Epic LoVe Story series by Buffyworldbuilder/ LateVMlover. The first few of these are posted in Ao3, but the entire series is posted on fanfiction.net. These take place season 3. Piz and Veronica are still dating at the beginning, but it is a LoVe story. It also has other prominent plotlines that involve MaDi( Mac and Dick) and stories with the other characters. All of them are great. Duncan is in this too. It is one of the more elaborate stories I have read. It addresses the Russian mob storyline. All of them are about 100k-300k words. They have different ratings, some T, some K. It is very well written and very detailed. I will just link the author and you can figure it out from there.

10. Everything's coming up roses by CrazyCatLady9 on Ao3. I know I said that I don't usually read pregnant fics, but this one is well written too. It is a post season 3 story, rated Explicit. 145220 words. It is a really interesting story that also delves into the Russian mob story line. There is a sequel, so check that out. I haven't read it, so I can't say anything, but I bet that it is really good too.

I don't usually post anything on here, but I read enough fanfiction that I have decided to make myself useful. My first installment of recs...

Pacey and Joey

1. You Can't Lose at Love by darkangel1978 on Ao3- a 115105 word post "Castaways" fic, Rated Mature. It is canon compliant and keeps most major plotlines. It is one of my favorites and it the way the show should have been handled. HIGHLY recommend.

2. From One Harbor to Another by M and M works on fanfiction.net- a 94k+ word fic, rated T, that covers every episode of season 3 and all of the Pacey/Joey moments from them. It also takes creative liberties and adds some missing moments. It is entirely canon compliant and goes until they sail off into the sunset at the end of the season. A wonderful dissection of the season covering just the Pacey/Joey portion.

3. Brief Conversations with Hideous Friends by Avacadomoon on Ao3- A 10513 word AU, rated T, that is basically if Pacey and Joey were always best friends and they weren't ever close with Dawson. It is just the two of them trying to figure out what they are to each other. I definitely recommend.

4. The Man to Hold the Water by ScullyLikesScience on Ao3, Incomplete, rated Mature. It is an 880510 word fic so far that begins before the beginning of the show and covers the entire series. It is currently up to mid season 5. It is AMAZING. It is mostly canon compliant. It veers into AU territory towards the end of season 4, which is a good thing, ifyyk. It is written beautifully and I was completely immersed in the story the entire time I was reading it. I usually don't read anything that isn't already completed, but this one was just so amazing that it is totally worth it.

5. Daily Distractions by Ophelia on a private Pj Blog called, odetopjfanfic.tripod.com, it is 21 chapters and it takes place in season 4 when Pacey and Joey are together and happy and it doesn't really divert from major points, but it really is its own story and it is really fun. It also has a few plot lines that don't revolve around PJ, but it is okay because they are good too.

6. Oops, Doubtful, The Favor, and Just Breathe are all fics that are on the odetopj website. The first one takes place during the Summer between seasons 3 and 4. And the rest of them take place during season 4. They are all rated NC 17. They are cute fics that are canon compliant up until that point, then there are a few changes.

7. Clear Blue Skies, also on the odetopj website, complete, rated pg-13 is a post "Two Gentleman of Capeside" fic. It is basically Pacey and Joey comforting each other. It isn't as long as the others, but I still like it.

8. Fernweh by RustyRed on Ao3 is an incomplete fic that is currently at 17 chapters and 253255 words. It takes place in season two after Crossroads. It is entirely AU from that point.
